Ape Escape Go coming soon to iOS and Android

    6. Marcello

      Probably a mobile game.

Thought you were on about Planet of the Apes 4 for a sec

    8. Teoskaven

Silly Sean, Sony doesn't care anymore about Ape Escape. Every AAA release now has to be over-realistic looking with over-the-shoulder camera and with prevalence of green and brown as colors. I mean, Marvel forced us to use red and grey for Spider-Man and poor Daniel over there almost had an heart attack, pray noone tells him about the Medievil remake or he will have Shawn Layden fired.

  2. Also putting aside how terribly Netflix treated the situation with the old VAs, within a bubble the various script changes, lack of kanji translation and the fact that Kaworu got fucking COUSIN'D is what dooms this version to immediate irrelevancy. If you want to watch Evangelion and actually enjoy it, just check out the original dub or ADV subs instead.

  3. V2kRKJ2.jpg

The Netflix release is a fucking disaster in every respect

    1. Teoskaven

      Why did they even bother?

    2. Perkilator

@Teoskaven I think I know; they knew how hardcore the fans are and did this on purpose just to push them off.

Why can we ever have nice things?

  4. https://store.steampowered.com/app/219990/Grim_Dawn/

Grim Dawn is really fucking good. So good, in fact, that it's actively ruining my daily life. Like do I really need to study? or wash dishes, or sleep? when I can play one or four more hours of this game instead? Games like those hardly come by for me these days but when they do it's like no other game even matters right now lol

    1. shdowhunt60

I really want to give it a try on GOG, but I was basically a kid when I played Diablo 2, and I really don't know if I would get into a game like this. But it looks cool tho...

  5. So now we have to worry about our favorite Pokémon not making it in and being usable? That really offsets a lot of my excitement going forward, as if the dumbing-down of difficulty and removal of numerous other useful/fun features weren't enough.
  6. All is well

  7. Calling it now: Metroid Prime Pinball 2, and I won't even be fucking mad

Whatever, even a Other M sequel.

Okay, forget Psychonauts 2 being own be Microsoft now; this is robbery.

    2. Sean

Psychonauts 2 is still coming to all platforms, the buyout won't change that.

    3. Strickerx5

Eh, I’m still firmly in the “It’s still the PC either way so I can’t really get mad at this” camp regarding games going to the Epic Store situations.

More concerned about that 100gb file size like damn

    4. Bobnik

I would've been in the "at least it's still coming to PC" camp if EGS wasn't a piece of crap to this day.

It still doesn't work properly, Epic still goes very agressive with their exclusivity deals (as in, they moneyhat publishers so that they can't release the game on Steam and Steam only), the store STILL DOES NOT HAVE A FUCKING SHOPPING CART, THEREFORE CAN STILL BLOCK YOU FROM BUYING MORE THAN A COUPLE OF GAMES.

It's a disgrace to all the other digital stores and them agressively moneyhatting games is disgusting.

    5. Sean

I'm not a Steam/Valve fan, Epic just strikes me as an especially arrogant company I don't want to support.

I care more about companies killing off online-only games than any other issue in the industry, but it's still annoying considering who it is

    6. Strickerx5

@BobnikI mean, I feel like that second issue is still a “at least it’s on pc” thing but I guess that’s just me.

Can’t really argue with the third. Though, I feel like the first one is a case by case bases. While I haven’t had a single issue with it yet, I know others have.

I agree that Epic should really focus more on improving the platform at this point but I also believe in two other things here. 1, that Steam itself is far from perfect and, 2, at the end of the day I really only see both of them as game sellers and launchers. Every other little feature Steam deploys is almost always done better by another platform like with voice chat and Discord. I don’t really lose anything by playing something through Epic rather than Valve. Sure those features should probably get there sooner rather than later but... can’t really say I’d utilize them once they do arrive.

Also, truth be told Valve needed this wake up call; fair play or not.

    7. Sean

Epic doesn't strike me as very pro-consumer which is why I don't like them. A lot of their touted benefits regarding EGS seem to favor the publishers over the buyers, and they don't even accept Paypal wallet because they pass the credit card charges onto the consumer. The one good thing I've seen come out of EGS is its regional pricing for certain countries, but it's better than Steam in some countries but worse in others, so it's a case by case basis and since I'm in the US this doesn't affect me.

With that said, I'm in a pretty steadfast "GOG/itch.io/other DRM-free storefronts vs. everyone else" camp myself and I always buy from those stores over Steam when I have the chance. Having a game that's DRM-free and doesn't require an account login easily trumps any feature that any storefront can throw at me no matter how nice they sound. The Steam client's features aren't important to me but I understand that they're important to other people, especially stuff like streaming, cloud saves, and Proton for Linux users.

And at the end of the day I don't like Epic because they seem like they think they can brute force their way into my wallet rather than try to earn it as other stores like Steam and GOG have.

    8. Bobnik

Also, truth be told Valve needed this wake up call; fair play or not.

Doesn't look like it's working, Valve ain't doing shit.

    9. Strickerx5

They’re finally upgrading their store front among other things

    10. Sean

Valve is always working on changes and improvements to their storefront, I don't think Epic has had any real effect on how they operate things. Valve in general is pretty recluse and seems to be doing behind-the-scenes stuff all the time without making a big deal about it until they have something to show.

    11. Strickerx5

Honestly, I can’t really remember the last time Valve felt the need to update the store front as majorly as recent reports make it out to be but I guess I’m just missing something there. Really, Valve’s complacency annoys me just as much in this case.

But real talk, I’m just happy more publishers are actually releasing their games on PC now.  Like, I’d use Excel if it meant getting a decent port of Unleashed or something. It’s not ideal, but once I’m in the game I can’t really say I ever care about what launched the code.

I do get the issues and why a lot of people are upset though. It’s just, for me at least, in the grand scheme of things I just don’t see it as the biggest issue in the PC market.

    12. Sean

That's fair. The issue I care most about is companies killing off online-only games and I'd rather direct most of my anger toward EA, Ubisoft, or MMO companies who do this shit all the fucking time than Epic who at least isn't doing this one thing I hate the most about the game industry. I don't like Epic and stand by my reasons but their store's games are still infinitely more playable than all the dead games out there that I literally can never play again.

  8. People who don't replay games at all are fucking weird

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

But also people who grind endlessly in a single game instead of playing new ones are fucking weird too.

Looking at you, Shiny Pokémon hunters

    2. Sean

~50 hours is my limit when it comes to those sorts of games these days, any more and I start having existential crises

    3. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

I can go for longer if there's actually progress and varying content to experience. But even just fighting in a Battle Tower/Tree/Maison/Frontier etc etc gets very boring, very fast.

    4. Marcello

I've played Assassin's Creed Odyssey for over 120 hours...

    5. Blacklightning

There honestly aren't many worth replaying anymore. Way too many modern developers have a "fuck you, got mine" attitude when it comes to making games, caring more about whether they can bait somebody into buying their shit than the amount of fun or mileage you can actually get out of it.

    6. Kuzu

I play what I want, when I want. You can't stop me :V

    7. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

@Blacklightning I play way fewer games than I used to. Mainly Nintendo ones, Sonic (maybe some other SEGA stuff) and various indie games. Puzzle heavy indie games aside (which can be breezed through in a heartbeat when you know the puzzles), they're all well written replaying. The more "mainstream" popular games these days tend to be crap for replayability, but they also tend to be not so great to play in the first place IMO. I'd even lumber most Sonic games post Unleashed in that concerning replay value.

    8. Indigo Rush

      Indigo Rush

I've put a concerning amount of gameplay hours into Sonic Mania

    9. Sean

Not saying every game is worth replaying but then you have those people who don't replay anything whatsoever, even games they loved as a kid, on the basis that they're old or whatever and I don't get that.

  9. As one of the seven total Commander Keen fans left on Earth I'm not thrilled about the mobile game but I'll probably forget abut it tomorrow

    1. tailsBOOM!

Look at how they massacred the boy (Also, a lot of people on Twitter are apparently fans as they are hurt about their childhoods being ruined, and Tom Hall (One of the creators) has already said he hated it).

    2. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

If it doesn't have this guy

      what's the point

  10. I started playing ECHO today. It's an intense sci-fi stealth horror in which your every action shapes the enemy AI and you have to adjust your playstyle on the fly in order to survive. It's great stuff, but takes years off my lifetime.

  11. I really want to love Mirror's Edge but the shitty combat is not making that happen

    1. Lord-Dreamerz

I hear the game rewards you for not fighting whatsoever. So not a surprise the combat system is not the best as it is not the focus.

    2. KHCast

      Was the sequel any better?

    3. Polkadi~☆

You're not actively fighting, you're attempting to avoid it. Pick up a gun to fight for a short while, but you're not expected to keep it.

But if it's still an issue, that's a shame :( Mirror's Edge is definitely one of my favourite games.

    4. Sean

No there are definitely moments when you're forced to fight. I can't see how you can do this entire game without engaging with a single enemy. I've tried

    5. Ferno

Really was my favorite 1st person game and favorite non-sonic game on the 360. True it was clunky at times though. Wish it got the full blown franchise treatment to iron out the kinks over time (besides the 2nd one that apparently made things worse somehow based on the reviews I read)

    6. Wraith

The combat is pretty bad. There's no woke explanation or excuse aside from the fact that it was forced on the devs by higher ups and isn't that polished because of it.

There's more ways around it than you probably realize but I don't think players should have to avoid it to have fun. It should properly synergize with the movement

    7. Sean

Yeah. Like the "boss" in chapter 7 took me forever to do because you HAVE to survive long enough to trigger the part where they start running away. It's ridiculous how difficult it is to just hold my ground and I almost wanted to quit.

It doesn't ruin the game for me, it really just bumps my feelings for this game down from "love" to "like". If there was a way to play all these levels without any enemies in my path I'd have a lot more fun with it.

  12. The new YL looks like it could be pretty good. I'm interested, if not excited.

    1. Wraith

Looks like a mini slice of DKC so I'm all in

    2. Sean

      DKC formula > BK formula

  13. The first Banjo is one of my favorite games but I stopped being excited for another sequel long ago. I just want the first two games to be ported to Steam; I don't have a 360 and Banjo-Tooie on N64 is fucking impossible to emulate (Kazooie is more or less perfect). If MS ever announces PC versions I'll be pretty happy and never ask for anything Banjo-related again.
  14. Baldur's Gate 3 announced:

    1. gato

As someone who never touched the series, isn't this kind of a big deal to reveal just like that?

    2. Sean

@gato Not sure I follow what you're asking. It was announced at Google's Stadia presentation and subsequently confirmed for both Stadia and PC.

  15. That's a whole lot of words backed up by absolutely nothing. You got some quotes by Sega that prove the reason they neglect Sonic 3 is due to popularity? Because I already provided a quote that backed up the legal issues surrounding the game's music. If you don't have quotes then you're just talking out of your ass and I know I'm going to believe two music composers on the game (one of them VERY disgruntled, even) over some random person on an obscure internet forum trying to tell me that I'm full of shit because that's just what they think.
  16. "Sega hasn't released Sonic 3 since 2011, has never remixed any of the offending tracks in Sonic 3, has turned Taxman and Stealth away from remaking Sonic 3 despite them working on a pitch build, and has remained completely silent on the issue despite one Sonic 3 composer confirming back in 2012 that a lawsuit was about to go down and another composer REFUSING to discuss the game due to the 'legal shit' he's been dealing with regarding the game's music and Sega themselves. "But it's all just a fucking conspiracy and it's only because Sonic 3 isn't popular."
  17. This is some of the most batshit insane mental gymnastics I've seen on this forum in a long time
  18. Sluggish walking physics aside, Spinball is fine for the first couple levels. The Showdown is complete ass, though I can have fun with the game if I sit down with it but it's one I've never beaten legitimately in my life time
  19. Nothing comes close to triggering pokéhype for me than seeing new non-legendary 'mons

    1. Spin Attaxx

      Spin Attaxx

In fairness, the Legendaries this time have honestly the most anti-hype designs I've seen since... well, Zeraora if we want to count Mythicals.

But yeah, I love edgy taxi driver crow and Shaun the Sheep.

    2. Sean

Legendaries are always a mixed bag for me. I've come to expect that there will always be new ones I like and others I completely can't stand.

On the other hand, I get weirdly excited over common 'mons that are revealed some time after the starters. Dunno why

    3. Diogenes

"do the pokemon look cool" is basically the only reason i even pay attention to pokemon anymore

also legendaries suck like 99% of the time

  20. Just mod S3K in. Since we have Sonic 3 Complete and Sonic 3 AIR I don't really see the big deal behind wanting Sega to port S3K anymore The rest of the roster makes up for it tenfold. Would have liked to have Ristar though. I'm also assuming there's going to be no region select which means we're stuck with the shitty harder version of Dynamite Headdy
  21. It took me three weeks to get around to it but I finally finished act, uh... 1, in Diablo 2

  22. Stop back-talking and drop the argument before you net yourself a suspension.
  23. Distance is a good racing game

    1. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

SERIOUSLY. It kicks so much ass and not nearly enough people know about it!

    2. Sean

I just finished the main campaign earlier, can't wait to dive into the DLC stuff and custom content tomorrow.

    3. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

Even just the regular arcade levels and the Nitronic Rush campaign (which might be DLC??? I dunno) are great enough on their own, and I haven't even finished all of them, since they get pretty hard and my craptop is actually too slow to keep up with many of them

    4. Lord-Dreamerz

I watched a lets play of Distance before. It looked awesome!

On a side note: I also wondered what A Sonic game done in that style would feel like, including the spooky techno atmosphere for the whole game... except for the characters to still be on foot obviously kinda like the boost games and with boss fights still included.

  24. Ignores everything after 2? Brings Linda back? Honestly, I can get on board with this. Though yeah I can understand the skepticism but I haven't seen most of the newer Terminator movies so I haven't been burned too badly yet. I wouldn't put this trailer on the same level as first impressions of Salvation or especially Genesis though, I'm pretty interested in seeing how this turns out.
