  1. *Ice Cream Truck outside plays Christmas songs*

    You're FOUR MONTHS LATE buddy!

EDIT: And now they're playing "It's a Small World"...

    1. blueblur98

i had an ice cream truck pass by that played the SMB1 overworld theme once.

    2. Big Panda

      Big Panda

Aren’t you guys on lockdown like the rest of us?

    3. Monkey Destruction Switch

      Monkey Destruction Switch

@Big Panda Yes and no, I think all that's mandated is keeping a fair distance from people and not having group gatherings of 10 or more. I guess technically going to an ice cream truck could be allowed...but it's still a bit weird to me.

    4. SenEDDtor Missile

      SenEDDtor Missile

@Big Panda @Monkey Destruction Switch I'm not going out to the truck; I can just hear their songs being played outside my house.

    5. Big Panda

      Big Panda

I get that. The part I’m questioning is why an ice cream truck would be out at a time like this.

  2. Huh, weird. 720p is no longer considered HD by YouTube.

    1. Thigolf

      That's...not how it works, youtube

    2. Sonictrainer

      That explains some things...

    3. Solister

      *suffers in barely 480p*

    4. Indigo Rush

      Medium Definition?

    5. Strickerx5

I mean in a way is makes sense. With 4K quickly becoming the standard in a lot of areas, a lot of people just aren’t thinking of 720p as high definition. For most, “HD” mean 1080p and up.

Imo, if I asked for HD and got a 720p file/ tv, I’d probably feel slightly ripped off lol.

Like, the actual (at least according to Wiki) definition for the term is 480p and up... that’s dated af and probably needs an update.

    6. Thigolf

Really? Where? All I'm seeing is that it starts at 720p o:

    7. Strickerx5

High-definition video (HDTV Video or HD video) is video of higher resolution and quality than standard-definition. While there is no standardized meaning for high-definition, generally any video image with considerably more than 480 vertical scan lines (North America) or 576 vertical lines (Europe) is considered high-definition. 480 scan lines is generally the minimum even though the majority of systems greatly exceed that.

@ThigolfDon't know if you were talking about the Wiki definition or not

Maybe you were looking at the TV version of the article?

  3. why did I just imagine a My Hero Academia and Beyblade crossover, where the MHA characters are Beybladers?

    1. CrownSlayer’s Shadow

      CrownSlayer’s Shadow

I read that as “keyblade” for some reason and though you meant an MHA and Kingdom Hearts crossover.

    2. SenEDDtor Missile

      SenEDDtor Missile

@CrownSlayer’s Shadow Well it is only one letter difference, but yeah I meant the spinning tops, not the giant swords in the shape of keys.

  4. Damn, Beyblade's themes have gotten really good.

    1. PC the Hedgehog

      PC the Hedgehog

Dang, that is good. Of course, Beyblade has a history of epic themes since the original.

    2. Strickerx5

It's always strange for me seeing things from my childhood, that I thought of as more of a fad than anything, somehow still surviving and even being verily popular.

    3. Kuzu

      Bitch, they've always been good

    4. PC the Hedgehog

      PC the Hedgehog

@Strickerx5 Yeah, out of all the late 90s/early 2000 toyetic animes that aren't Pokemon, pretty much all that have survived to this day are Beyblade, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Never really understood why Beyblade in particular has managed to stay strong off-and-on all these years.

  5. Tails' tails are severely underutilized. Fighting him could be like trying to fight a really small fast target with 4 arms. Maybe each of them equipped with different gadgets.

    1. Milo

okay but how about using it as one big fan

    2. Diogenes

if his tails are caught up in fighting he probably wouldn't be all that fast

    3. SenEDDtor Missile

      SenEDDtor Missile

@Diogenes Well you get my meaning; he can be a fast fighter with 2 extra limbs, a fast flying fighter with gadgets, or a 4 armed fighter each limb armed with gadgets.

    4. dbzfan7

Dude has basically the ability to attack from 4 places at once. Can quad wield even given his tails have shown they can grab things. But that means letting him be useful, and sega hates that idea.

  6. Me going outside in my car, Bluetooth radio connection for iPhone on car turns on, plays “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins at random.

  7. I made the right choice to buy those personal weights. I don't feel so stiff and blobby anymore.

  8. Made a call to my cellphone service provider regarding a text I got for unlimited data related to the coronavirus, ended up getting a 10 dollar discount from this point onwards for the same plan. Unexpectedly nice outcome all things considered.

    1. BlueSky

Well, that's cool! All things considered I find the limited data ones kinda clunky, paying for the speed is kinda more reasonable in this time and age anyway due to all the stunts people pull with their phones thsee days as far as I'm concerned.

It's hard for me to remember why we were ever so afraid of these flying puppies.

But man, does that end message sting in hindsight.

  10. If you didn't see this 8 hours ago,

if you're interested in finding out how much your political beliefs align with 2020 candidates, you can use this site here. It quizzes you on major election issues, then helps to show you how much your beliefs align with the candidates' statements and plans. It's pretty eye opening really, and gets to the point without social media or media clogging things up. It's nonpartisan and nonprofit too, so there's minimal risk of bias.

  12. So apparently my dental filling appointment has been cancelled and they'll call me to reschedule due to the coronavirus (they didn't say that explicitly, but given the circumstances it's the implied reason).

    1. BlueSky

That sucks, hope you can cope.

Kinda funny, normal flu isn't usually considered something that should cause a dentist cancellation, prolly this happened partly because people are still wondering if the corona virus spreads by just existing in the same room than the virus-carrying person...

  13. Does anyone have any experience with asking a small restaurant with a "Now Hiring" sign outside about a job? Do you need to dress or act a certain way? I've been a consistent customer here as well.

    1. Big Panda

      Big Panda

I don’t know if the process is different in the States, but in my experience you just need to drop in a copy of your CV and see if they get back to you.

    2. SenEDDtor Missile

      SenEDDtor Missile

Is there any merit to calling them about it?

    3. Big Panda

      Big Panda

I don’t think so, at least not at this stage. If you called them now, all they’d say is “cool. Send over your resumé and we’ll consider you”.

    4. JezMM

If you really want to be confident about it, I suggest dress nicely (you don't have to groom yourself like you would for an interview but like, don't look like a slob), go in at a time when they're not busy and ask if you can speak to the owner/manager.  Introduce yourself, just say you're interested in the position and wanted to drop your CV/resumé in.  Obviously try your best to make a good first impression. A nice introduction like that will work to your benefit if they have a bunch of applications to go through - and if they are as old-fashioned as to have a basic "NOW HIRING" sign with no instructions or e-mail address etc on it, they might appreciate the physical touch of introducing yourself.

If they want to talk to you more, try to have the stuff from your CV memorised, since most of what they ask should be covered there - but also have in mind stuff they might ask like "how flexible are you" etc.

If you aren't able to speak to the manager, making this same good first impression with the staff member you're speaking to is the next best thing since hopefully they'll pass on the word.  Be honest if they ask why you're there - they might insist on just taking the CV and letting you leave, but if you want you can always still ask "is it possible to introduce myself to them?"  If not then so be it.

Of course, the other benefit to all this is you get to let them make a first impression on you too.  If the manager is rude or seems bothered by meeting you and it's not busy, to be honest that would feel like a slight red flag for me. I work in a management position for a customer service job myself and I can't imagine a situation where it wouldn't be preferred to meet a candidate for a position as early as possible so I have a fuller picture of them when making my preliminary decisions on who to invite for an interview.

Of course, all the above is just suggestion, hopefully it helps but if you don't feel comfortable with it or feel it may not work from what you already know of the business, trusting your gut can be important too.  Good luck!

      SenEDDtor Missile

      @JezMM @Big Panda Okay.

I should note that for all the times I've been there, it's a pretty small place staffed by about 3-5 people at any given time, at least visibly.

  14. [reddit] someone went and brought a llama in a tuxedo to their sister’s wedding based on a promise made 5 years ago. They even had the llama measured for the tuxedo dimensions XD!

  15. Reminder that Gary at 10 years old in the original series had a pimp mobile with college age cheerleaders for some reason. And somehow no one cared.

EDIT: GARY OAK from Pokemon, not Gary the Snail.

If that actually happens, I think the movies should be renamed "Famous Hollywood actors featuring Sonic the hedgehog".

      PC the Hedgehog

Johnson's voice works surprisingly well for Knuckles. Actually sounds quite a bit like his game actor(s).

    4. QuantumEdge

Honestly, that'd be good casting.  He's got just the right voice for him.  I'd actually say it's a better fit for Knuckles than Schwartz is for Sonic

It’s fake. Very fake. And I would recommend never giving that site any form of credibility.

Can't wait for The Rock to play PRESIDENT KNUCKLES

  17. I feel like based on what I'm seeing on the TVTropes that I'm probably not going to care about Phase 4 and onwards for the MCU because I don't really like the idea of the TV shows being more heavily integrated into the movie verse. It honestly sounds like too much to keep track of, and I was barely keeping track of the films in the Infinity Saga Phases as it is.

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

I'm just glad that this franchise has still ended on a very high note for the people who see Endgame as the true ending to the MCU and choose not to follow along afterwards. I mainly expect to watch films from a stand alone point of view, like Spider Man, with no regard to any overarching arcs they make from now on with such a perfect jumping off point.

  19. Do you ever find yourself having a random nostalgic moment for something that you don't have any access to and can only vaguely remember what it was actually like? Because I'm literally remembering a BBC radio dramatization on cassette tapes version of the Chronicles of Narnia that I pretty much cannot find anywhere on the internet audiowise. I remember the gist of the theme song used and the image (it's likely this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chronicles-Narnia-Witch-Wardrobe-Cassettes/dp/0642557551).

I remember this documentary about the ice age from the 90s. It scared the hell out of me when I was a kid because they had this stop motion terror bird attacking a small horse.

might had found it but I don't have the cash to buy it right now.
