This is the official remix of Dreams of an Absolution from Sonic Misadventures, made by the fantastic Faseeh and Zachary Frazier (That's me)! You've also may have heard this when we previewed it at SEGABits' Sonic and Sega Fan Jam!

"Hey everyone. I, first, wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to listen to this cover of Dreams of an Absolution. I had the honor to work with the fantastic Faseeh and the amazing Noah Copeland. Without them, this song wouldn't have happened. This means so much to me. So much. I've been wanting to cover this song since 2006, but I was super afraid if I could do this song justice because the original is iconic.  This is basically a dream come true to me. I truly hope that you guys will like this song. I want you guys to have as much as fun listening to it as we did making it for you all. That's all. We spent a good 4 months making this song as great as we can. I just hope I did Bentley Jones and the rest of the team proud with this song." - Zachary (Konoha)

Please share this around or tell your friends about it!!! Tell us what you think as well!
And watch out for the show coming to Tails' Channel soon!

Hope you guys enjoy the remix and video, it's been a long ride of work, but a fun one nonetheless. This song means a lot to me, as Silver is my most favorite Sonic character and a character I could always relate to, and this song I meant to convey all of his feelings, with a sense of power, showing his lost potential. I understand that some of you may not like the drops and stuff, but hey, I wanted to bring in something unique to the project. Zach has done great, and I'm so happy for him that you loved his vocals.   Leave your thoughts below! Thanks again guys.

You know what the sad thing really is about the whole thing of "we're reinventing Sonic for a new age".

Apparently reinventing means minimising what made Sonic unique, and emphasising typical generic platformy brawley gameplay like every other kids action game is doing.

I'm not necessarily saying that I'm like, blaming SEGA and BRB, pointing fingers and saying they're taking the easy way out by trying to appeal to "the kids" this way, maybe it is the case that these sorta games just genuinely sell better but... yeah it's sad.

Like, what makes vanilla Sonic special?  Whether it's the coveted classic physics design, or even the modern boost gameplay, what makes Sonic special is its the only platformer series where speed is an integral part of the experience.  No other platformer series goes at the pace Sonic does.

"It's a platformer, but super fast" sounds like something unique in of itself, ready to provide all sorts of new things.

What do we have with Sonic Boom?

"It's a brawler with platforming, but with co-op and switchable characters, and lassoos"... doesn't quite have that same something.  They're gimmicks that have been done before in a myraid of different ways.  This combination is unique but, it's a combination of stuff that's been done before.

    I dunno.

Any feelings that anyone has on this are based on an unfinished product, because the product is unfinished.Or like watching someone make a cake, realizing that they've replaced the eggs with eggplants and the flour with flowers, and being pretty sure it's not actually going to turn out to be a delicious cake regardless of what they add next. And I don't disagree with that in theory. You can do different things while still feeling "Sonic". But not everything that you can do, will feel "Sonic". And quite a lot of people feel that this game doesn't feel "Sonic", but you seem intent on shouting them all down, as if there's nothing that doesn't feel "Sonic".

Roger Rabbit is always the cited exception to the rule, but it's not relevant anymore nor even an exception, considering most of the blockbuster films we watch nowadays are already a mix of CGI characters and live-action to varying degrees. Aside from the companies and people involved understanding the properties in Roger Rabbit, highlighting the differences between the humans and the toons was both a deliberate stylistic and thematic point. This isn't so with the children's films people are citing as indicative of trouble ahead with this production. It is always played perfectly straight, as if these creatures and their physics and brand of humor always existed in the "real world," and it's that very disconnect that allows you to realize that the filmmakers missed the point of the original property entirely.

However this is, again, ignoring the fact that one of the key people has worked on a slew of films with middling to awful quality. He is undoubtedly going to have an impact on the film as the main overseer, and I'm not willing to bank on him giving enough of a damn about Sonic to understand the property intimately. The fact is, this shit should have been fully animated.

Which begs the question of why not just take the city elements and do them in CG? Moving heavy equipment and crews, buying city permits, and the other financial pitfalls of making this live-action aren't cheap or convenient, so no one would spend the time and money just for background elements or aesthetics that can just be recreated on a computer. By making this live-action, the money spent has to at least reasonably go towards major story elements, and after all, it's much easier to just use human actors instead of fighting the uncanny valley. So we can expect human interference.

Also, yearly releases? Not even fucking Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Smurfs had yearly releases.

Unless they do some awesome, cheap, self-aware work in the vain of Scott Pilgrim or Speed Racer, this is going to be a clusterfuck.

I enjoyed how exploratory the platforming looks, as well as how the characters are capable of doing their own thing. The puzzles might not be the most intricate (although a difficulty curve never hurts BRB *wink wink nudge nudge please Stephen make it hard at the end*), but I find being plopped in such a world and working my way through the puzzles inherently satisfying anyway. It's not mind-blowing, but it still looks enjoyable as a game. Mainly interested in how the context will be formed with the narrative.
