  1. So I'm using my Nintendo Switch Online free trail...I still don't know if it's worth the money to continue the subscription.

I did play a one-on-one in Smash and the connection was terrible. Pausing every couple of seconds, I wanted to self destruct just to end the tedious torture. But you could get punished for doing that sort of thing.

Try a few more, because it might be the quality of your internet OR your opponent's internet.

unless you REALLY want to play online in Smash or idk Mario Kart, then it's not worth it.

Nintendo's netcode is shit and they just wanted to jump to the Xbox Live and PSN train and have paid online. Problem is unlike Xbox and Sony, Nintendo never managed to nail the internet aspect down with their consoles. And for how good and innovative Nintendo can be I'm fucking SHOCKED that they can't get online right.

I really just have it for Mario Kart and nothing else.

If you want a game to make it worth your while, try getting Warframe. It's free and you can do and get everything without having to pay extra either. It's a good action game.

@Blue Wisp You forgot to mention NSO online is also absolutely barebones in features. Switch online infrastructure was already rudimentary when the service/system launched, and yet the only meaningful differences that changed from when online was free and online was locked behind NSO were the free NES games (yay....) and cloud saves (which are sealed off from certain games like Splatoon 2 to prevent "cheating"....).

Forget comparing it to XBL, PSN, and Steam of today; it doesn't measure up to the XBL and PSN of the 360/PS3 or even the Wii U (and at least some of those I mentioned actually have free online).

Just to clarify my first post here might sound defensive of the service so I'll just say yeah it's pretty lame feature-wise.  I don't plan to continue it beyond my trial, but I can't say I had significant lag issues, I just don't play online much.

Downloaded that Warframe. Figured I'd give that a try, at least.
