  1. Just learned in my Autism Group that the term Aspergers had to retire from use due to the man it was named after having secret ties to the Nazis.

      @Polkadi~♪ It looks to be a fairly recent discovery, like over the past couple of years. The article that Indigo shared goes into greater details but the reason it hadn't come to light sooner, appears to be because it was thought that Hans Asperger's records had been destroyed at a specific bombing incident which hit a hospital he worked at during World War 2.

      There was already talks of removing the term Aspergers, but only in name. The condition is still a recognized social difficulty but I think the people that decide these things have merged it into the Autistic Spectrum.

      That's what it sounds like to me anyway.
