  1. Is there anybody else on here that still plays on a PS3 apart from myself? This stuff worries me but maybe I'm the only one...

I just set up my PS3 once more about an hour ago to begin making a list of games to pick up before the store goes.

Yeah, I still run my PS3 regularly. I've yet to actually buy a more modern PlayStation, Blu-Rays are becoming more common place, and I just picked up FF Tactics for it off the shop, and I'm planning to make a final run on the store a little closer to the shutdown once I've worked out a list of my own.

Always use my PS3 when playing DVDs/Blu-rays (mostly out of habit + leaving my PS4 free for games) and am actually currently working my way through all the main PS3 Ratchet & Clanks after digging the remake enough to plat it. (All I had previously were ToD and the Trilogy, but the store closing gave me the initiative to grab ACiT and ItN plus bonus QfB digitally for ten bucks a pop.)

Because my brother took over the TV and the fact I've been using my PS4 more, no especially since its a pain to constantly hook everything up every time.

I do love the PS3 and its lineup though. I really should get stuff I want before its gone.

While I have a good number of PS3 games, I jailbroke my system and use it mainly for running Retroarch as well as booting PS1 prototypes and Rom hacks. While this does suck I obviously don't take mine online but still. Between the PS4 situation and now this it seems Sony is straight up trying to force people to buy PS5's, and that dosen't sit right with me.

This year has been the first time in a while that I have played on my PS3 and only because I am pruning my collection that I have done over the years as I had that hunch something might happen along with the Vita that I am departing with. To think that my console is going to be 9 years old by the end of the year...

What is left to do is going through the rest of my games, patch the remaining games (including gulp Gran Turismo 6), checking a few games that I have purchased but stuck on demo version and probably the last time that I will use PSN. Not to buy since the remaining games that I had interest were removed literally years ago (before I had the console such as GTI Club or Gran Turismo HD Concept) or trophy sync though. Keeping a majority that I like such as Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, the Japanese more or less exclusive developed games, some like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure have gone up a lot in value. The rest will be getting rid of or replacing it with the cheaper and better 360 version (or another console).

Anyway I knew the news before the "clickbait YouTubers" got their hands on it. It has been going since February when PSN went down but it was only since March that people discovered it. Apparently most of these patches still exist on Sony's servers but a certain type of file is missing. People have been buying the UK version of Castlevania Lords of Shadow just to have the two DLC chapters because the US patch is missing and both Konami and Sony blame each other. Then again Sony would rather delete them than add the missing file back as they want people to buy PS5s. I wouldn't buy a PS5 and the PS4 was a gift.
