    Fat?

    Fat?!

Dude, Tails can spin his tails fast enough to obtain flight.

That is not fat, that is muscle. A full on rock-hard ass.

It's just that he doesn't have it much anywhere else being a kid and all, so it tends to stick out. Both literally and figuratively.

OH. Oh you're talking about level design of the games, not Sonic himself.

Yeah, we need more of that. The game was certainly capable of it (I remember this pipe in Adabat, you could easily run on any part of it you wanted) but it also seems like something really hard to put into the game. I mean, you'd end up running straight forward, unable to jump, and dodging things. Turning it into more or less a QTE with more control is the only way I can think of doing it well.

Platforms do not equal platforming. Sonic 1 was focused on platforming, not speed. Sonic 2 was focused on speed. Sonic 3's focus shifted between levels.

None of them contain an equal balance. Does this make them less fun? No. They just aren't this paragon of speed and platforming mixed that you take them to be.

By your own words speeduelist, Adabat and Eggmanland

The extra acts are just as much part of the day stages as the normal levels. You can't disregard them because they disprove your argument.

Also, I love this little line,

Oh? You have an unfair bias to a game you haven't played and don't even really know about? And you judge said game based on literally nothing but speed run videos and you can't even take time to play the game?

    Who would'a guessed?

Oh no! the first two levels are easy!

    who da thunk it?

Also, you are really just repeating yourself at this point. I've addressed this. Are just just ignoring my posts? Most stages? Not boost spam, unless you are speed running.

Play the game, you don't know what you are talking about.

You are literally telling people who have played the game that it plays a certain way because you haven't played it but you've seen videos.

While the people who have played the game pretty much disagree.

    Oh my god seriously.

Speedrunning any stage except Apotos and Spagonia is incredibly difficult. Just playing several of them the first few times is hard enough. Going though Holoska the first time takes so many lives.

You cannot say "oop speedruns in this gaem r easy" when that is all you have seen of the game.

Speed runs make every single Megaman game look easy. Guess what ones are easy? (hint: none of them except 3)

I see a difference, yes. No fucking shit Unleashed doesn't have as much platforming as the classic games. That's more than obvious. Nobody is disagreeing with that.

But you have not played the game, correct? You're basing what you see on videos that are speed runs that purposefully skip the slower parts of the game. You don't seem to understand that part.

I've seen speedruns of the classic games that deteriorate Death Egg Zone into holding right and jumping three times. Speed runs turn every platformer into a shriveling mass of speed. Sonic Unleashed just has side paths for quicker completion that bypass the platforming so people can get higher times.

Play the game, the full game, from the very start, and then tell me that there isn't any platforming.

Better tell Mario that his wall jumping and whenever he's not on a floating platform aren't platforming. He won't take it well, I promise you.

Also the platforming in Sonic games was made to complement, not hinder, speed.

Really? I see two, and several parts this guy skips because he knows the level incredibly well.

This is pretty much a speed run, you know? It shows every single sign of being one, except also a walkthrough.

Yet the extra acts are still daytime stages, so they count.

And they have so much platforming, you have no idea.

And to show that they have a good mix of speed and platforming, you choose the slowest and most annoying stage in Sonic 3 & Knuckles!

You can't determine Sonic Unleashed's quality from videos, because nobody is going to put one up of them not looking amazing at the game.

If you can find one of someone totally ordinary who has just started playing that game, that'll give you a better idea. Not someone who knows the level by heart.

    Uh.

    What.

I'm not sure even what you're saying, but I do not remember much need to go slowly in... hell, any Sonic game. Sure, the need was there, but often enough you really were just running through the levels and jumping.

Once again, lies. Boosting in plenty of places in both Chun-Nan, Spagonia, Holoska, Adabat, Eggmanland, Empire City, and even APOTOS on a few parts can lead to death if you don't do things exactly right.

The videos you've been watching? Those are people purposefully going around the stage as fast as possible. It involves memorization of the level and pure luck. It is not a good example of normal gameplay.

Except in every single stage. Mazuri has a whole section of the level dedicated to platforming.

Do you know what a speed run is?

A speed run is using every possible trick and amount of skill you have to get through a level faster than someone normally would.

The videos you used? Not normal people playing the game, they are people who focused on getting a certain time over a matter of weeks, possibly months. They more than likely memorized the stage layout.

You mean like several of the places in Sonic 2 and 3?

Yeah you have not played the HD version of the game. You don't know what you're talking about.

That is pretty much the Wii version though.

    Also jumping.

    And obstacles.

And the lack of a track.

And the different style of physics.

And nothing that makes it even close to being a racing game except running REALLY REALLY FAST.

    You boost the whole stage?

    You fall off a cliff.

You boost half the stage? You might miss the cliff, and run into a wall.

Boosting the whole stage breaks nothing, and really it just makes you look like you suck at the game. Unless you're speed running, which normal people are not doing.

I love how you chose people who have obviously figured out paths through the level where they can keep boosting. There's a lot more platforming in the game that what the videos show. Not as much as Eggman or Adabat, but if you're not speedrunning, it's pretty fair amounts for a game like Unleashed.

Also there is no need to bold all of that.

Neither does any 3D Sonic game, except Colors.

They're all generally focused on speed. They do have the momentum, a bit too much though.

    Racing games: No jumping
Unleashed: Lots of jumping, even during the constant boost parts.

    ???

    Does not compute.

Also that is the weirdest sentence ever. That is some terrible wording right there.

No he shouldn't, he's appeared in the fucking Game Gear games and Fighters and nothing more. He's literally less canonical than '06.

I sprite. It is a thing I do. I'd like to think I'm halfway decent.

Lack of technology is not an excuse. The could make new sprites for Knuckles for gods sake. Mighty is a quick edit in every sense of the word.

Really did you just use that. Did you just say that.

Why ask questions about things you already know.

You just answered that. Just above. Right there. I see it.

Not even close. Shadow has pointy eyes and generally a rougher face, Silver has that... thing on his head, Amy's eyes are more rounded along with her eyelashes and rounder facial structure, Charmy has huge eyes, and Espio has his horn instead of a nose and more slanted eyes that don't connect.

Hell, even Ray the Flying fucking Squirrel has a slightly different face and he's almost no better than Mighty.

Literally a few added pixels on the nose.

    Pallet change.

What? No he doesn't. It's exactly the same. It's just black and not blue.

Hey! They both go on adventures and have fun! Except Sonic will fight if he gets into trouble.

    Wait. So will Mighty.

    Huh.

    Knuckles' Chaotix.

    SegaSonic Arcade.

Wow, the two games he's appeared in, he does exactly that.

That's what Sonic does. Until he has to save the world.

But your argument literally just put Mighty into the Indiana Jones style of adventuring.

Sonic would be Jones, but if Jones was the most cocky motherfucker you have no idea.
    Mighty would just be Jones.

    Wow giant differences there.

Indiana Jones is an archeologist. He travels around hunting down historical sites. A lot like the guys in Jurassic Park but without ohmygodraptors.

    So yeah they kinda are.

Because he's cheap. Completely cheap. Worthless. He's Sonic if Sonic were into cross-species dressing.

Power? He's got jack shit, he hasn't been around since the mid 90s.

So do the newer characters. Bigger ones too.

A new character would more than likely have a good design and not be the second closest thing to a recolor Sega ever made.

"Hey! Lets use something we've left unused for years instead of taking some time to create something new! They think that's effort!"

Bringing someone as old as Mighty or Nack back?

Yeah people would still complain. They'd be officially in the roster at that point and none of the extra-haters would care about being classic. People complain about Tails.

Silver = New design that's different to both Sonic and Shadow, along with a new personality and hey, a pretty damn creative superform compared to the rest.

Mighty = Sonic with a shell.

    - No map, just a round room with all the level teleporters.

    - Elise is the only choice in the "love" trial.

    - No more loading screens, the game just freezes for 15 seconds when it needs to load.

    - The Xbox version has controls mapped to a PS3 controller.

    - There is no PS3 disk, buying the game for PS3 gives you an Xbox disk, PS3 mapped controls and all, the disk causes the PS3 to RRoD.

    - The game comes with a blue chaos emerald and a Certificate of Paradox just to piss people off

    - Blaze is now from the present and was sent to an alternate future to protect Silver because he is the chosen one and blaze is also from an alternate past that is really the future-present and was sent to the present as a baby and none of this explains why she's in an alternatedimension in the rush games

I think there is a difference.

Sonic can reach full speed by RUNNING. He can reach high speeds as a ball, but in the end it's simply a quick start until he slows down, unless there is a hill to increase his speed. Shadow is exactly the same. We don't know the speed of the Spindash as it starts out, but it will slow down unless acted on by an outside force.

The spindash is more than likely not the fastest Sonic can go, even starting out. Even the BOOOOOST isn't as fast as he can go. Not to mention, if Sonic uses his feet to spin himself while in a ball, Shadow would have to do so also, which would involve his rocket shoes.

Hell, honestly (this is totally baseless but whatever) I always thought the yellow when he jumps and spins was his shoes' flames. I mean, everyone has a color effect that's their color, but Shadow dosen't have black or red, he has yellow like the flames his shoes shoot out.

I dunno, it's always seemed to me like it was his shoes the whole time.

But he's still never matched Sonic's speed.

Here's the thing about his jet skates, they're JETS. They lift him up off the ground and propel him, greatly reducing friction and giving a literal rocket boost. For him to have any natural speed, he has to take them off. We have never seen this happen.

Sonic, however, can fight friction and run faster than Shadow has been seen too, without even really trying. His shoes don't give him his speed, his body does.

Shadow has shown no signs of being really as fast as Sonic. He's super strong, but that's because he was engineered to be. I doubt Gerald Robotnik thought super speed would REALLY be useful.

There's no evidence for it, so currently, no, he is not naturally able to reach super sonic speeds.

If it DID, then we STILL wouldn't hear about it. You have to remember, Andrew Ryan was a very proud and foolish man. If Columbia was any inspiration to him, he would never admit it to himself, and he would be the only one to know about the inspiration of it otherwise. In fact, it's entirely possible that anyone noting similarities was killed by Ryan for that very reason.
