  1. You guys think classic tails will talk in Adventures? I mean this is canonically the same tails as the classic one in Gens, and he talks.

    1. Forte-Metallix

I think it was confirmed that no one will talk.

    2. Strickerx5

I think classic is now linked in with no talking.

which is fucking stupid imo but hey

They said no one would talk. I think it's a good idea, actually - not because "muh classix" but it forces the story to be told through expressive animation and music, which could make for a much more engaging short story, especially given the fact these are small episodes.

Animations like Simon's Cat or Paperman are good examples of this

It actually weirds me out that Tails has been used almost exclusively for exposition since Unleashed and now he's in a silent flick.

And he might actually... do stuff.

      What year is this again?

@Indigo RushI would agree with that if it weren't for things like the mega drive comics (which thrived with its dialogue along with the express art-style) and this being more than 1 short episode. If they plan to tell any kind of an arc with these things, why limit it to pantomiming? That can only get you so far. We have a great voice cast now so it's not like bad voice acting is a risk. To me it just comes off as limiting yourself for too short of a gain.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good animated short film that relies solely on its animation to tell the story but this is a multi-part thing with established characters... it just seems like a bad decision that's only going to hurt it in the long run.

I'm kinda struggling to figure out how this is a bad decision in the longrun.

It's just 5 animated shorts. It'll be okay.

I'd prefer spoken dialogue. They can cast appropriately for characters that might need their voices "aged down" and it'd fit fine. That said, I'm sure Tyson and crew will have some really fun visuals and character acting on display to make up for the lack of voice acting.

@Indigo RushIt's just that there's only so much you can really convey if you're telling an arc without narrative. I know it can be done (and lord knows they're not doing anything that big with this), but to what extent remains to be seen. That and, again going off the comics here, we're simply losing the potential for some more great narrative moments between these characters.

Seriously, when I first heard of this I was excited at the potential to basically have something like the mega drive comics in animated form. The decision to not have dialogue effectively kills half of that potential.

It was never confirmed that this was going to have an arc, as far as I know.

Again, it'll be okay. I'm not anti VA, just... this is an extra fun little thing? Why the commotion? Start small, work up to bigger things along the way. We'll see how it works. I really doubt this will hurt it's potential; not any more than no VA or written dialogue hurt Sonic 3 or Mania.

From what I heard, they did confirmed during the panel that they want to have some form of an overarching story throughout these. Like, I know if there was a team that can pull this off it's these guys but still... just seems like a pointless limit they're putting on themselves.

    11. Dizcrybe

      Wait, Adventures what now?

Not especially. This sounds like it's their vision, and I still don't see why dialogue is necessary or how it'll enhance things significantly. If this is on par with Sonic Mania, which had no voice acting anyway, then it'll be just fine. We don't really know the scope of this, but if we can get something as intense as Sonic & Knuckles' endgame without a word of dialogue, then we're probably in for something great all the same.

Just a small 5 short episode cartoon set in the Sonic Mania universe post-Forces. The lack of dialogue is... apparently a hot contention.

    13. Strickerx5

Eh, I don't hold Mania that highly when it comes to plot. 3&K to an extent though.

I hope they can pull it off, but let's just say I'm not betting on it atm.

    14. Dizcrybe

Well, as for the apparent lack of dialogue, I don't see how it's any different from the "Man of the Year" short in that regard.

If it were like a big series or something, i’d rather have VA, but since it’s just a mini-series, no VA is perfectly fine.
