  1. Foot locker and Best Buy are closing too??? Damn, kinda started to hate the “online shopping” age

    1. Ferno

I wasn't all the way awake before but now im awake. Not Best Buy. Took me ages to get over Circuit City, which I actually prefered over Best Buy..

Yeah this is sad. Soon no one will want to go outside and actually shop.

I actually love going to malls and stores because its like a treasure hunt. Soon we'll be indoors all day. :/

Seriously, I've only ever found internet shopping a viable option for times when I can't find something in a store, or if I buy something that I don't mind waiting for.

But none of that compares to the fun of going into a store and browsing shelves, maybe even spotting something that you decide to buy on a whim because "I may as well, I mean, it's right there."

    4. Ferno

I LIKE paying for something and coming home with it on the same day. Like yeah I use Amazon alot, but I don't like waiting days after paying for something for it to arrive, or playing a game of chance when buying used items to see if they're in good condition/ working properly, and going though complicated adventures with the seller/ the post office etc. if they aren't. Maybe I'm getting old but I still prefer physical stores.

Edit: Just looked it up and it looks like it's just the smaller mobile Best Buy stores that you often see in malls that're closing, the main big box stores will be staying.

      for now

      >best buy

      excuse me w h a t

Someone in work said to me "Why can't I just order Pops online, Amazon has the ones I wanted".

I replied "There's a slight thrill finding it in a shop. I like using online as a last resort."

Sad to hear more shops closing, we don't want all digital, makes it too easy and slow.

    7. TCB

wait wait wait they're closing down all the Best Buy Mobile stores, not their larger parent stores http://fortune.com/2018/03/01/best-buy-stores-results/

that same article even says the opposite about their business against Amazon...

    8. Tracker_TD

Yeah, I can't find sources for BestBuy or Footlocker shuttering honestly

    9. Penny

best buy's only closing the mobile mall shops, not their big stores

    10. TCB

dude should have gave us the sauce before confusing us like that lol

      @Penny oh thank god

    12. KHCast

This has been floating around online. I never even stated it was closing, I asked it in a question form.

    13. TCB

But you did state it here

"Foot locker and Best Buy are closing too???"

which made us believe you meant they were closing down permanently, as in all their major and minor stores

we wouldn't have know if you didn't specify, especially since this photo is telling us it's their Mobile branch of stores lol

    14. Wraith

Even if that's true that's just them closing a number of stores, not all of them.

    15. KHCast

The question marks still imply it as a question not a guaranteed for sure statement.:/ it’s not like I’m going “guys the stores are closing, holy shit.”

If there’s question marks, you’re not stating, you’re asking. I’m open to being corrected. Me being shocked because I’m in disbelief does not change I’m not stating shit

The photo, SAYS Best Buy, no Best Buy mobile.

@Josh fair, but the meme I think is banking on the assumption of these brands closing, hence why “closing” is bolded

    16. Ferno

all those question marks should equal a triple negative making it a statement

    17. TCB

this photo was supposed to be meme

      Monkey Destruction Switch

Sorry, but the question marks simply did not convey your meaning as effectively as you had hoped, because it's ambiguous whether they're actually asking or just out of shock. I do see what you were trying to say, the problem was the ambiguity.

    19. Wraith

It's not banking on anything you just didn't really read it lol

    20. KHCast

The political term for photos like these is “meme”, which isn’t limited to “dumb jokes that overstay their welcome”

@Josh if they’re not banking on people reading the bolded to make it sound worse than it really is, then bolding “closing” is fucking pointless (on top of having x’s next to these instead of bullet points to implicate dying.) It /should/ read “best buy mobile closing 257 stores.” if they wanna not be misleading. I read it, but fell for what they were falsely trying to paint it as, so you can stop with the assuming “I jumped the gun”. I never stated, even if what I left it as was ambiguous.

      ...internet was a mistake

Forgive me for not dropping this but...

Why were you saying it as a question in the first place? Did you expect any of us to have an answer?

But you appear to say it's a rteorical question. How were we supposed to know it was rteorical???

    23. KHCast

I mean considering we got a reply in this very status, clearing it up, yeah? That’s typically why we ask questions. In retrospect I could have looked it up myself, but that’s hindsight. I don’t think I was asking it rhetorically, that would imply I wasn’t wanting anyone to question or respond here. Again, I wouldn’t ask it as a question if I just wanted people to agree

I think it was the wording of the question. It didn't know whether it was genuine, jokey or just something.

Seriously though Best Buy has already gone in the UK but Foot Locker seems to be doing okay. They just opened a kids only version not too long back, how long that'll last I don't know. Personally I think Best Buy will do okay for the next couple of years because there aren't as many places to buy TVs and people who like games seem to praise BB for their discount scheme (closest type of store for us but without the games is Currys who I'm surprised are still around).
