  1. You know, had the Persona Q games been a console experience that looked like a project with a lot of effort put into it, I’m sure it would have nicely paid off more for Atlus instead of it being a spin-off people forget exists. I mean, it’s a canon crossover between the Persona casts with fairly deep plots and interactions, people would have given a shit for that. I wholly think it could have worked in a traditional Persona style. Would have been a great love letter, even if it would have cost them a bit more to turn it into a console experience. The ideas were pretty ambitious. Heck, they could have easily kept the chibi style and just gave it the HD touch, and release them on the Nintendo consoles like the Wii U and Switch(or the PS3/PS4). Like you can’t tell me Q and Q2 couldn’t have worked just fine as console persona games(albeit a bit shorter). It just...frustrates me a concept like this was ultimately wasted and ended up feeling not as charming as I’d wanted. But eh, that’s my rant done.

    1. Thigolf

I mean, the whole concept exists only because people wanted a Persona game on 3DS and because they wanted to do something unique with the series. "A normal Persona game but with crossover" was never on the table. The whole Etrian Odyssey style also just works so well because of the dual screen, so other than the Wii U, a console version might've looked better, but would've been heavily compromised in the gameplay department.

Also, while I kinda get the complaint with Q2 being on 3DS, with it being already absolete for some time (even if, again, I think the gameplay just fits way better there), being annoyed that Atlus released a 3DS Persona Spinoff during the 3DS' prime kinda confuses me. Like, why wouldn't they? The only reason people didn't really care is because Persona only really took of with P5.

“A normal Persona game but with crossover" was never on the table”

should have been if you ask me. Cause, no offense what we ended up with is boring from a gameplay perspective imo. Especially with Q2 and it’s heavy focus on the P5 cast, a more fleshed out Persona style game could have done wonders. Especially since 5R isn’t coming to switch, I would have taken Q2 with a watered down P5 battle system with its own gimmicks, over scramble.

Also people didn’t care about Q1 because it was a boring game that did shallow portrayals of the characters used because it couldn’t flesh out each one like the console iterations due to the hardware limitations

    3. Haalyle

Legit, the only reason I haven't been bothered to pre-order Q2 is because it's on 3DS and I can't be bothered to dust that thing off, since I rarely play it now.

    4. Wraith

If they were to throw around enough cash to make a new game I'd rather it be a new experience with new characters than just fanservice.

    5. Thigolf

I dunno, maybe it's partially because I love the Etrian Odyssey series, but I really don't mind if game series spinoffs take a, well, new spin on the formula and experiment, instead of being more of the same, and I don't think the crossover aspect is wasted or something if it's happening in said spinoff.

Though I can see why it would be disappointing if the gameplay doesn't gel with your tastes.

    6. KHCast

@Wraith I mean we didn’t really end up getting that with Scrabble either, so it’d be a pick your poison situation at that point. A fully fleshed out Persona Q game that takes more of a inspiration from its persona side gameplay wise and improves on each of the characters and their personalities, or a dynasty warriors hack n slash?

  2. Watching a walkthrough of Persona Q2. God, I’m sorry but I’m still annoyed at the lack of English dialogue, it just reminds me of Koei Techmo and their corner cutting tactics when it comes to localization a lot of times. Especially when your someone that enjoys casual dialogue during battles and such and such since it gives personality to the party. To have most of that in a language you don’t know, with no subtitles just makes it annoying and pointless. This shit better not happen with Persona 5R and Scrabble, otherwise Atlus is going down as complacent cheap lazy hacks to me.

    1. KHCast

Also, holy shit, wanna know how lazy this can get? Some of the characters mouths won’t move during dialogue lol. Just... Jesus.

    2. Failinhearts

5R and Scramble I guarantee will be dubbed. Q2 didn't get dubbed most likely due to the 3DS nearing the end of its lifespan and Atlus seeing it as not worth the effort.

The dub has a lot of love than what I would usually see from an English Localization of like, anything. And with its use in Smash, it's only gonna get more widespread from here.

    3. Crow the BOOLET

      Crow the BOOLET

I mean I prefer the Japanese voices but damn I really don't think they really cared for the Q series.

...Not that I did in the first place.

I think I'm gonna stop being a Persona fan now and just settle in the countryside with my wife, Persona 2, and live a quiet life with her.

    4. KHCast

To be fair to Q2, it seems to do a good job with the characterization and interactions compared to the original. They don’t feel so far as shallow. So far.

Also I know why it wasn’t dubbed. It’s still annoying regardless imo to deal with as someone that heavily preferred the dub over the Japanese VA.

  3. Jump force:

    Yugi: I accept!

*kaiba then proceeds to beat up Yugi and use his cards to just attack mercilessly*

Yugi: I-i’m pretty sure this isn’t how you play duel mons-

    1. Tara

Back in the day I really wanted one of those stupid cumbersome Duel Disk toys.  Explaining to my dad what it was proved to be surprisingly difficult.

Not as difficult as actually playing the game with it though.

  4. Once again, Goku was officially deconfirmed. Interesting tidbits: -Sakurai wants to move smash away from the competitive angle -he doesn’t like the idea of constantly updating/supporting the same game -Smash ultimates concept was finalized December 16th, 2015 -no more Smash ballots, however the one we got was used for Ultimate -a character joining smash has advertising effects hence why certain characters may get in despite a lack of Nintendo presence -Sakurai played a beta botw to come up with links moveset - He believes games shouldn’t be made based on market research -The dlc was planned without Sakurai’s consent -sakurai is not a fan of season passes, that was Nintendo’s call -Sakurai didn’t seem to enjoy bringing back every character, so probably safe to assume this is a one time thing -Nintendo didn’t even know about the “everyone was here” thing, so a lot of the staff lost their shit too lol -WoL as a concept existed since Brawl -Spirits were a last second idea, probably won’t return in future games
  5. And now there’s a new Smash “leak” people are automatically latching on and hyping themselves over. For those not aware

a image is going around SUPPOSEDLY from a upcoming Smash trailer showing ness from the back looking at something fiery/glowing. The text “not actual gameplay footage” is also in it cause why not. So naturally people are now hyping up for a earthbound character. I swear man people will easily jump to the next “leak” and believe it nowadays.

    1. Thigolf

Unless they're gonna release something related to EB in the near future, a EB character seems pretty darn niche for character DLC

    2. Zaysho

boy can't wait to see Papa Genos in my recommendations again

    3. KHCast

      Here’s the video

interestingly enough, I can’t find the actual image online

@Zaysho Betting he’ll still attempt to plug in his google theory he and his friends started and use that to decred this one.

    4. Diogenes
    5. JezMM

Why would people hype up Earthbound over an image like this? The newcomer trailers almost always start off with a familiar Nintendo character setting the stage (see: Luigi for Simon Belmont).

I'd honestly be surprised if we get any first party characters as DLC, considering they heavily implied that all 5 DLC characters will be as earth-shattering as Joker.

    6. KHCast

@JezMM Apparently, even though I can’t see it, people are claiming Porky is in the image.  Was watching BillyB0’s vid on this and he brought that up.

Also, maybe it’s just me, but that looks like Ness’s trophy pose the more I look at this

    7. Dejimon11

I kinda got burnt out on smash hype now. Whatever happens happens.

    8. SupahBerry

The glowing/fiery thing has a name. XP

If that shadowy figure's suppose to be Porky, then that would certainly explain why his Brawl boss fight did not return here, or his absence as a spirit. He also fits alongside Ridley and K Rool for bringing more villians into the roster.

I would actually be way more hyped if this means that Giygas will appear as a new boss or stage. That'd be badass.

But that video raises a good point that DLC characters from 3DS/Wii U did not get animated trailers before. Joker getting a hand-drawn trailer seems more of a convenience on getting the Persona animators to do it. For a CG trailer, it would be reasonable if they'd make one for a first party character, but even that seems like a stretch.

Watch it be an overly elaborate setup for Sans instead

    9. Celestia

The trailer won't be for a new character, the fire is actually a hint that Ness' PK Fire (historically a terrible move, I think we can all agree) has gotten a well-deserved buff. The trailer will be five minutes of Ness just destroying everyone.

  6. As long as it’s not graphs and pie charts I should be alright with the length regardless of the content.
  7. Are people really still pulling the “allegedly” argument to get on people’s case for talking shit on projared? Yknow the ones, “well until it’s proven, in a court of law, you can’t attack the man. He could be innocent we don’t know!”

    1. PublicEnemy1

Even though they have ACTUAL EVIDENCE AGAINST HIM.

    2. KHCast

But you don’t get it. It could be ALLEGED evidence against him! It hasn’t been 100% proven legally!

    3. Bobnik

I haven't seen anyone use "allegedly" non-ironically when it comes to Jared.

    4. KHCast

I’m seeing people claim that since he hasn’t been sentenced yet, Jared could for all intents and purposes, sue for defamation since they’re still legally “alleged” claims against him. I’ve also seen a few of his fans still use that phrase to argue for him

    5. Polkadi~♪

Fans dismissing arguments against their favourite creator, because they can't turn down their commitment of having followed a creator's content for years?

Suck it up, I've been on this ride before. Sometimes, a person will end up being an arse, or the wrong words slip out of their mouth.

    6. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

My favorite people are the ones saying "man we should apologize to JonTron", like one dude being an adulterer (and maybe a pedo? I haven't been keeping up with this stuff) somehow excuses another from expressing white supremacist sentiments

    7. Solly
    8. KHCast

@Shaddy Zaphod People didn’t already do that? Considering jontron still shovels out videos that get tons of views, if not more than before, I took it people moved on.

I gotta wonder if there’s correlation between these kind of people and those that got on peoples cases for “jumping to conclusions” about Brett Kavvy.

  8. So apparently it’s going to be an hour long. Guesses on what’ll be shown?
  9. It hurts that the Artorias in Smash thing is still being heavily argued for as being very likely

  10. >when twitter takeover makes better use of the characters and their personalities compared to the games nowadays

  11. I can’t believe the Jonas Brothers are back

  12. Remember when Mario & Sonic used a Sonic Chronicles stage?

    1. Nast

      that was bizarre

    2. mayday2592

      Which one?

  13. Reaction: A dynasty warriors styled megaman game using characters from through the different franchises within the series

  14. Kinda wish Mario in Ultimate had more of a moveset influenced from Odyssey

  15. latest?cb=20091218005520

    Remember this?

And Sega can say they included him first in a crossover party game lol.

    1. Perkilator

My lord, that already-mediocre design looms so shoddily cut out.
