Not checking out the MASA conference or Boston Straight Pride then, I take it?

Not there's anything wrong with either, I guess, at least as far as I know. *shrug*

Did you just day that there's nothing wrong with the Make America Straight Again conference?

I can understand a bit of ignorance towards the issues with straight pride, but holy shit...

Well, I didn't know what MASA stood for. Like I said, as far as I know.

Now if that's what both of those are for, then yikes.

The implication of your post being that you did know though, otherwise why did you even say anything.

Plus there's still the straight pride issue.

I'd hope I've made myself well enough to know I don't support homophobia. Yikes. Not a fan of false accusations.

Anyway,  I don't see anything wrong with either a gay or straight pride parade by default.

I didn't accuse you of anything. I said "x and y are bad", you said "x and y aren't bad". If you didn't know what something was, you'd typically say so rather than giving an opinion on it.

As for straight pride though... Pride for the LGBT community isn't about saying "we're gay, give us attention". It's time to celebrate social progress towards recognising and accepting different sexualities (and related issues) that have been largely condemned throughout history. They're still stigmatised in much of the world, and people face hardships because of their differences even in progressive parts of the world. It takes nothing away from heterosexuallity. Heterosexuallity doesn't have a plight. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of what pride looks like on the surface. I don't give a shit about what your sexuality is, and it doesn't need to be flaunted. It has a purpose in fighting for a good cause though. But straight pride? It's because people feel some kind of misplaced sense of oppression for not being celebrated. What does straight pride stand for?

Hmmm. Makes sense when you put it that way. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

@Jovahexeon Ogilvie Maurice You don't need to apologise to him.

I always saw pride as a time to come together as community, and give those that face struggles for who they are, or can’t come out for one reason or another, a place away from all that so they can feel loved and accepted for who they are. Just a time to get away from it all and stand against the oppression. I’m not a fan of how companies and the gay community have morphed it into a more shallow thing, but I still appreciate it for the general idea.

straight pride “awareness” or month, or whatever they wanna call it, has none of that. No reason outside “look, they have something we don’t I want it too cause I don’t feel as special for not being acknowledged” which misses the whole point. By all means, be proud of who you are, but the takeaway from when I hear demand for a straight pride, is more something akin to simple jealousy and wanting to shove their heterosexuality in peoples faces(in a world that already does that constantly, but alright.). Almost like they feel threatened by not being the focus for once and wanna purposely ignore the fact they know they don’t need one due to their status societally, so they can attempt to equalize everyone in another #AllLivesMatter type way and make them seem like a oppressed group.

There's no need to be rude to @DanJ86 on that one.

Didn't even know I was replied to. lol

@Jovahexeon Ogilvie Maurice It was a misunderstanding so I figured no apology would be necessary.
