  1. I still don’t think there’d be much harm in porting past Smash Bros games with online compatibility onto the Switch. Lots of other fighter game franchises do it just fine

<--Wants Brawl and Smash 4 stage editor elements added to Ultimate.

It would divide what is left of Ultimate's online community. Half the kids would jump to melee and 2 smaller communities is less desirable than 1 big one.

I think you're overestimating Melee there.

@Sega DogTagz Again, other fighting games have done just fine with having multiple entries on one system, or porting older entries to current hardware, I don’t see how Smash would be this special exception to the rule that would harm Nintendo and the, incredibly large, fanbase

To be fair I don't feel like Melee's fans would find Nintendo's quality of online play to be acceptable lol.

It would be nice to have at least straight ports of the old games for preservation's sake, but I'd want them to include the option to have everything unlocked from the start.  From Melee onwards, Smash isn't really a game where it's that fun to start over on a fresh save and do everything again.

Melee can be played online with rollback netcode via slippi. The Melee community won't give up rollback to play on the switch at this point

I just realized if they do this it will be limited time until March 31st 20xx so nevermind
