  1. “Why does this casual Pokémon game get such good music.”

Because the RBY soundtrack was the only main game ost that was overall demonstrably good, probably.

Gens 2 and 3 are right up there with 1 imo. It's only with Gen 4 and onwards that some tracks started to sound samey/ not as inspired in some places.

I don’t really play Pokémon much anymore, but I did in fact enjoy gen 1’s music from what I can remember

    Dragon Ball (Warning: Untagged Spoilers)

What, the same lore that said that the Super Saiyan state could only be achieved as a Great Ape? The lore that said the power was so great that he blew up the planet he was on unintentionally? Did you think Goku becoming one without going Great Ape was contrary to lore? Legends get exacerbated. Nothing concrete saying you can’t become a Super Saiyan without sacrificing your identity. The exact opposite happened four times before the Broly movie.

Live Action Detective Pikachu Movie (Summer 2019)

They had the opportunity to make every Pokemon look as mass-appealing as possible. Make everything colorful and cutesy, for the sake of the brand. The fact that they didn't is a vote of confidence that I can respect. Every Pokemon has a design choice in mind that goes above and beyond, but doesn't detract from their original designs at all. They have an atmosphere and ambiance in mind for this movie, and they are going to stick with it. I'm genuinely interested in seeing this movie.

  6. Kinda random, but I think "Super Sonic" is a stroke of naming genius.

Snappy, alliterative name. Supersonic is an actual word, and its definition still resonates with the theme. And it still invokes a sense of power and gravitas.

Yeah, naming Super Sonic as such may be simple and perhaps predictable. But it doesn't take away from the impact the name has.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (December 7th)

Wonder if there's even a passing hope that Eggman's in there serving as a boss. We've got Dr. Wily acting as AT, might as well get the other doctor here in some form.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (December 7th)

The original 8 Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Zelda, Ganondorf, Mewtwo Marth, Ike, Robin Dedede, Meta Knight, Pit, Palutena, Olimar Wolf, King K. Rool, Lucario, Villager, Little Mac, Shulk, Ridley Potentially Sonic, Megaman, and Pac-Man That's a good 32 characters to work with for a "rebooted" Smash Bros. that covers most of the bases. Not impossible to get some story-centric content out of that, though it does come with the cost of losing some key players and some of the quirky blokes that have contributed to Smash's charm over the years. And then you have to add newcomers on top of that.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (December 7th)

Nair would always call out the Bronze Sword even if Robin was holding the Levin Sword in Smash 4. They simply just removed that trigger, and gave Nair a power boost with the Levin Sword factored in.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (December 7th)

The final build is in Spain now, and people are going right into it. Particularly, Pichu seems to built like a berserker glass cannon. Tilts are so quick to end and aerials autocancel and end super quick, so he's in and he's out. And Luigi's grab is indeed a tether grab. He uses the Poltergust and shoots a plunger to grab, like he did in the Simon cinematic. And Robin straight up got a new move added into his kit. He can use the Levin Sword with his Nair now.

Leave it to Sonic to intentionally slow down and risk getting caught by the beams just to save a woodland critter.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (December 7th)

Their reaction to this leak has just been so out of GameXplain's M.O. compared to all the other times stuff has leaked. They're "supposed" to explain; they haven't explained shit. If you were to go look at a reputable source that has made their mark on thoroughly explaining stuff to a meticulous degree while weighing the pros and cons, if that source were to respond with "Nah we'd rather just lie on our backs and blow these bubbles into the wind and see when they pop, fuck this so-called leak.", real or not, you'd probably be pissed off. It's not what you were expecting, it's contrary to their practices, and it sours goodwill and reputation later down the road.

    Pokemon Anime General Discussion

This episode was just a cavalcade of anime references, not just Utena. That glorious Jessie screenshot! A knowing shoutout to most of Megumi Hayashibara's iconic VA roles through her 30+ years of voice acting. From left to right, to the best of my knowledge: Himiko Shinobibe - Mashin Hero Wataru (her third role in her career, dating all the way back to 1988!) Ranma Saotome - Ranma 1/2 Lina Inverse - Slayers Rei Ayanami - Neon Genesis Evangelion Lime - Saber Marionette J Literally Hello Kitty/Sanrio Faye Valentine - Cowboy Bebop Ai Haibara - Detective Conan Minky Momo - Magical Princess Minky Momo Paprika - Paprika Fantastic stuff.

    Dragon Ball (Warning: Untagged Spoilers)

Yeah, the Freeza Force had not in any way “fallen” by the time the trek to Namek started. He was just down one race of mercenaries, but given that race died out twenty years prior and he still had a good grip on the universe to that day, he was still going strong. Freeza just made the retrospectively questionable decision to bring his entire elite force with him to Namek, and when he and them subsequently fell, Sorbet was the only left to keep things together and pick up the pieces. He didn’t do a good job of it.
  20. Remember that scene in Dragonball Z Buu Saga where Van Zant and Smithy snipe an elderly couple walking down a path trying to find shelter?

Yeah, fuck that scene. My most hated moment in Dragonball, just from how it got under my skin and pissed me off.

    Dragon Ball (Warning: Untagged Spoilers)

I prefer the Dragonball Minus backstory for Goku tbh. Bardock's & Gine's genuine love for each other is completely alien to the Saiyan culture. Ofc that nurturing and empathy, that carried on to Goku's time on Earth, would end up creating the first Super Saiyan in a millennium. It also presents a fascinating parallel with Broly. Paragus genuinely seems to love his son, just like Bardock and Gine did with Goku. But Goku had the privilege of living on Earth and really come to peace with his life and his friends through the years, while Broly was all alone until Paragus found him, but then molded to hold bitter resentment over Vegeta all this time. It comes across as Earth truly being the deciding factor for changing the ruthless Saiyans for the better. The three Saiyans all show different levels of growth as it pertains to Earth: - One loved as a baby, growing up on Earth and rightly calling it home. - One that's seemingly born for power first and love second, growing up with the cold and cruel Freeza, but came to Earth and learned to love and care for others - And one who was similarly loved as the first, but with no history with Earth at all. Three Super Saiyans born at the same time, becoming vastly different and their own persons through their different lives. It's just thought-provoking.
