Johnny Boy reacted to DabigRG in What is it about Sonic that makes so many wish to disconnect him from non-Eggman humans?
You know, having humans walking around basically makes Sonic and his friends more special while making Eggman that much more impressive.

There are some who are against having humans at all and there are some who are against the photorealistic Final Fantasy-esque humans. Humans are okay, as long as they look like the ones from Unleashed.
As for the question itself, many of those people grew playing the classic games (where storytelling/worldbuilding was minimal) or watching the SATAM cartoon (where Robotnik and Snivley were the only humans).

Another vote for 2005-2006. Sonic had some bad games before, but none of them damaged Sega's reputation and the franchise so much like Shadow the Hedgehog, GBA Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 did. To add to the injury, 2 of these bad games were released in the year of Sonic's 15th birthday.
I usually see fans complaining about 06 (and sometimes Shadow) still being mocked on the internet after 13 years, but if there's one thing I've learned is that the internet doesn't forget big blunders so easily. Nintendo's current reputation didn't stop the Youtube Poops and video edits with cutscenes of the horrid Phillips CD-i games, for example.

It's kinda more like, what periods have actually not been bad for Sonic. Whenever it manages to have a couple of good games it ends up shooting itself in the foot soon after.
If I had to pick a "worst", I'd have to say the mid-00's. I don't think anything has done more damage to the series than the one-two punch of Shadow and '06. By that point they had broken everything about 3D Sonic gameplay that had ever worked and made a complete joke out of the story and characters, and sometimes it feels like every bad decision since has been either directly or indirectly a response to that period.
Johnny Boy reacted to Myst in Worst period for Sonic?
Apart from Rise of Lyric, Sonic has been the sole playable character in all of his mainline 3D games since 2007. That's ridiculous.
Sega is pandering to people who don't even like Sonic in the first place by excluding the vast library of side characters, thanks to that 'Sonic's shitty friends' meme, (which was coined by people who have no interest in purchasing a Sonic game either way, not the fans who are actually purchasing the product and part of the fanbase.)
Sega also caters to the 'Sonic was only good in 2D' crowd by needlessly shoehorning classic Sonic into Forces. He really didn't need to be there.
Sega should stop trying to win over casual gamers who think Sonic is a joke now and was only good in the 90's. Ian Flynn is currently doing a fantastic job with IDW in my opinion, cramming in subtle references, flashbacks, winks, nods, and a wide cast of characters. Sega should be giving Sonic that same kind of love.

These Republicans do realize they don’t have to go down with Trump, do they?
They’re part of a co-equal branch—if he does something they know is wrong, they can reel him in, Twitter Tantrum be damned.
Shit’s already looking bad in the area that are likely going purple.

If Republicans want to lash themselves to the mast I say let them. The harder they fight impeachment now the more ammunition they give Democrats in the future. It's going to be hard for the Republicans to pull the "holier than thou" antics they relied on during the Obama years now that they've been in bed with Trump.
In other news: Pete Buttigieg has surged in Iowa and is now basically tied with Biden and Sanders.

I can tolerate "the classic games are a different dimension" thing when it's elaborated to mean that the events of Sonic Generations altered the timeline and split it off due to paradox, but I wish they didn't have a rule of making some characters exclusive to Classic or Modern Sonic.
Beyond that: Shadow the Hedgebhog. So many of its additions to the backstory in SA2 make so little sense that I wish they'd just amputate it. It's not exactly something Sega seems willing to revisit anyway, but as they haven't revisited SA2's version of the events either, I consider Shadow the Hedgehog to still be causing damage.

Thought you all might like to see this. So, it turns out, the last request ever given to Sakurai by the great and late Iwata-San, was in fact a Smash Bros game for the Switch.
Which really puts into perspective, the amount of love and time dedicated towards this game above and beyond.

I'm sure it's fine. It's not like Sonic will make deal with Mephiles to make 06 erase itself from happening, but in turn he and Amy never married, she just hanged around as, IDK, crazy fangirl or something and due to reality shift none of us will remember how it really went...what?

It sounds like a nostalgic cash grab at the moment. I'm a bit confused as to whether this is a new Zombie Island that just inexplicably has similarities to Moonscar Island from the original, or if they forgot that Zombie Island was in a BAYOU, not a tropical area.

You know what is extremely common and easy for the moderation staff to grasp? You treating people who disagree with whatever dumb take you've decided to pretend you can support like they are too fucking stupid to form sentences. It's so easy to grasp that we've even had members express that they stop being comfortable posting in threads they were active in once you start posting in them.
So you know what? This is your last warning on this nonsense. Argue the point and not the man, or don't post at all. Those are your two choices from now on when you come back, in any thread you post in; or we'll make it for you.

Except it wouldn't because the entire point of the popular vote electing presidents is that every vote would actually have a say in a damn election and every state would actually fucking matter.
It's not about a state being fucking big or small, it's about giving the person that got more votes from Americans the presidency and not having 3-4 states decide everything. I'm fucking tired of this outdated system of electoral votes. Land mass doesn't vote. People do.
Johnny Boy reacted to Sapphirine Wind in Pokémon Sword & Shield (Coming November 15th, 2019)
No, people are not entitled for wanting to bring their favorite/sentimental Pokemon into newer games like they always have, especially since GameFreak has gone on to emphasize that they know how their fans hold their Pokemon close to their hearts due to unique experiences they've had with them.
This didn't just happen to them; they knew that this would not be popular with long time fans who have been transferring Pokemon since gen 4. They decided not to put in the effort. They're deciding to rush this game to get it out rather than honor the time, work and attachment that they've encouraged their fans to put into their Pokemon. They did this to themselves.
Because Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, on the 3DS, had a total of 807 Pokemon, which does not account for gender differences, mega evolutions and other sort of variants and forms. That without a doubt places us close to 900 if not over it, and each different model has a variety of animations (eating, sleeping, happy, angry, special attack, physical attack, attacked, fainting, running, walking, signature; some had more or fewer than others).
The 3ds had all of that. The Switch is obviously much more powerful. It can run Skyrim and Witcher 3. There is no doubt that it can hold all of USUM's assets and then the new Galar content. This isn't GF pushing the system to its absolute limit, this is their programming/optimization skills cracking under pressure to meet a deadline.
For such a controversial statement, they've done nothing to soften it. These are the same people who knew Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee would be polarizing, which is why they mentioned that they were working on the then unnamed SWSH after announcing LGPE. If this was the case, they would have said that.
And that doesn't look like it will happen, and we also have precedent that it may not; new ORAS mega evolutions didn't get patched into XY, the new Pokemon and forms in USUM weren't patched into SUMO. This is apparently going to be the norm now as well.
Because of that, people are rightfully angry that what was once a guarantee is not anymore. Those "self-entitled goofs" have Pokemon that are over a decade old, traded from special people in their lives, or are simply attached to them for literally an other reason, and if said Pokemon aren't popular enough, are unpopular, or GF plain old doesn't think they fit for some reason (reminder; Solrock and Lunatone weren't in Sun and Moon, you had to transfer them, so it can "fit" but not get in), they may see years of storage in Pokemon Home. That prospect is ridiculous, so it's no wonder people are mad.
