  1. And - - it has wings on the back of its head! lol I was hoping we'd get some kind of goblin for Galar, and there it is! I really hope it evolves.
  2. They'll probably be wanting to show off the four player Dynamax battles, at least.
  3. I wondered why Leon wears such an odd combination of clothing, but thank you Twitter:
  4. Someone just noticed on ResetEra that the wolves' bizarre names, Zacian and Zamazenta, probably come from "cyan" and "magenta". And that would mean
  5. I would guess that Wooloo is based on the Valais Blacknose sheep:
  6. Ravens are literally just big crows anyway. But I agree. As cool as those two are, Game Freak has stepped up their crow game. Yeah, I don't know quite what to think of this. It's weird that they mention only one wolf legendary when the direct was very clear about there being two separate Pokémon.
  7. OK, so Wooloo and Corviknight look very promising. I'm assuming the latter isn't the regional bird, as it doesn't look like it will evolve and it would seem odd not to start with the first stage. Gossifleur and its evolution do their job as the usual early game plant (which I'm rarely interested in), but Drednaw looks a bit off to me. The wolves seem fine I guess, but I won't be making a decision on Sword or Shield based on them anyway.
  8. Since we're less than a day away now before we likely see some early game Pokémon, I just want to say that I'd love for the regional bird to be Water/Flying and based on a heron or northern gannet. The gannet (above) is our fastest bird and utilises some pretty distinct diving poses. "Gannet" is also a synonym for glutton here, so that could influence its potential name and lore.
  9. I guess I'd forgotten all about it. It seemed odd to me since she flies a bit in one of the Generations missions (although that wasn't very high, I suppose).
  10. I have to say I'm enjoying the in-race banter a lot more than I expected to. While I found myself skipping most of the story automatically, since it was honestly a pretty hard listen, the little moments where characters complain or gloat to each other are pretty fun. Since Blaze is my go-to racer, I've really been loving her little complaints about the various environments. She doesn't like being airborne, cold, wet or sandy, which I find quite amusing, as we don't really know enough about her as a character outside of her status as princess. And speaking of which, the likes of Amy making jabs at said position is really fun too. I also didn't expect to like Zavok's lines so much. Yes, I would have preferred other characters over him, but I can see why they went with such a vocal villain.
  11. Hi! Welcome to the forums. If you want to share your videos, art, music, etc, please be sure to post it in the Showcase forum. You can still use this topic though, as I've moved it to the appropriate place. =]
  12. It may not make it in after all. Apparently the design was already commercially available as a T-shirt, which was against the rules. It's not clear whether it was plagiarised or the original designer entered it. Perhaps they'll go with a runner-up instead?
  13. Here's Digital Foundry's tech analysis of the game: It sounds like the frame rate was a big part of the reason for the delay. I didn't realise it was so iffy last year.
  14. It would be way, way too much work to change his proportions this late in the game. Scenes would have to be reanimated entirely. The best we're likely to get at this point are larger eyes and less teeth.
  15. You can just type that information and link to the post? Anyway, that's all I'm saying on the matter.
  16. It doesn't change the fact that they take up the space of about 5 or 6 posts. Posting six image macros just for laughs is too much, as it clutters up an otherwise good discussion (a positive change for this topic).
  17. They did for Sun and Moon, so I wouldn't count out the E3 Direct.
  18. Which is pretty normal. Marketing tends to increase from May onwards though, so we likely don't have long to wait for more news now.
  19. So it will look slightly less bad. I wouldn't even be surprised if they always intended to reveal an inferior version to make the final look "good" by comparison.
  20. Because many kids in their target demographic are more likely to think something being realistic makes it cooler. Shadow the Hedgehog was probably enjoyed more by pre-teens than teens, for example, despite the alleged intended audience. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, it's more of a risk financially to make an effort and produce a good (and faithful) film. It's a shame, because I think Sonic has more going for it than most video game series do. It has a wide appeal among children and adults, well-designed characters, obvious links to the popular superhero genre and lends itself well to comic moments. Perfect ingredients for a fully CGI movie and of course, merchandise. There are enough characters and lore for a talented writer to work with, but nothing so important that couldn't be altered to serve a more story-driven format. We've also seen how incredible Sonic and his world can look, thanks to the pre-rendered animation in Unleashed and beyond. But big budget animated films are relatively rare for a reason and taking any kind of chance on a video game property is not all that attractive to studios after so many failures. Then there's SEGA, who would actually have to take an active role without interfering too much (a balance they rarely seem to get right). Let's not forget how Ubisoft managed to end up with the horrendously boring Assassin's Creed of 2016 despite the talent involved. While I think Pikachu looks a lot better, I don't think it's a fair comparison when the success of Go likely proved to Hollywood that the franchise could attract as many as adults as children. Pokemon's also proven a multimedia success with anime, movies, trading cards and merchandise in a way that no other video game series has been able to match. It's literally the most successful franchise in the world. Adapting Ash and chums or a more traditional Pokemon story in general might have been a challenge, but they didn't need to, since Detective Pikachu had come along and given them a solid narrative to work with. Sonic was never going to get the same treatment. Very few IPs would. It fucking sucks, but it's why I'm not too surprised by the result. EDIT: Went on a slight tangent there, but I wanted to get my thoughts out at some point and this is as good a time as any.
  21. I'm just trying to point out that Jim Carrey is playing heavily on nostalgia in the trailer (which is likely what he's been directed to do), rather than putting in the kind of effort that Raul Julia did with Bison. It's likely that we've already seen some of the best stuff too...
  22. Yes, but this is neither of those films. It's a low budget action film aimed at kids.
  23. He's just being stereotypical Jim Carrey. I wouldn't expect anything we haven't seen before.
