Nintendoga got a reaction from UltraGizmo64 in The Bodacious Badniks Of Eggman's Funky Rhytmn (AKA The Badnik Topic)
    Oh, Hello there loyal reader!

Welcome to the Sonic Stadium! I can see you've already got your shirts off and pants down, so join me as we take a look into Sonic's world, and more importantly-

    How to Be a Badnik!

Step 1. Know your fellow Badniks!

Why now how on earth are you going to be a Badnik, if you don't even know about Badniks!? Well have no fear, for learning is our specialty, and continue and learn a bit about your fellow badniks!

First off, what is a Badnik? Well for those who don't know, it's the loyal army of the all-wonderful Dr. Eggman! In order to make a Badnik, one must utilize a power source. The power source can vary from innocent animals, to flowers, to energy balls, to almost anything powerful, such as the mystical Chaos Emeralds/Master Emerald. These are needed to make the Badnik feel alive and well.

(The Eggman Chemical Plant Industries Strike of 1989 forced us to give every Badnik it's own power source, instead of sharing a source.)

"Hey Nintendoga, can I just take a Motobug, slap a horn on it's head and call it a new Badnik?"
    *SLAP*
    "NO!"

The special thing about the many Badniks, is how they are made, what they look like, and how differently they act from one another. Sounds confusing? Well just remember our special word, Penis.

    "Penis?"

That's right young lad, Penis! As is
    P.eople
    E.nvision
    N.ew
    I.deas
    S.teadily!

"Ooh! Penis!" That's right young lad, now how do you use a Penis?

"Well first you think of the pretty lady from down the street and you-" No no no no no! Not that one! Here let me explain. Badniks are a special thing. You must care for each one as you would care for a child. And like a child, you give them a personality, individuality, and confidence to march out there into the real world. That's why each Badnik is so different, because we make each one with true love, care, and equality. Sort of...

Of course we haven't discovered a way to make an all-terrain Badnik, so we create each one differently, a "species" of Badniks if you will. Some of them are stuck to the ground, while others soar the skies in search of that wretched Hedgehog! There's even some that model fish, or can survive in extreme temperatures in Lava, or cold temperatures in Ice! It's quite ingenious actually, and the brilliant mind of Eggman makes sure that not only do Badniks look cool, and are cool, they must also have specifically designed attacks/defense mechanisms designed to their liking. Never re-use a Badnik. That's our motto-

    *Ahem* Let's move onto-

Step 2. Know how your fellow Badniks work!

Eggman couldn't have just had the Badniks run amok randomly, they'd be too chaotic to control, and might cause too much damage to the environments. And what good is a destroyed environment? Nobody would pay to see the broken environments once Eggman's Zoology of Mobius opens up. So each Badnik is programmed to certain movements, certain attacks, and certain places, at all times. These of course are monitored by Eggman's newly installed "Big Egg is Watching You" cameras.

    For some examples,

Caterkiller. A dangerous modified Caterpillar. Spikes on it's bodies prevent it from being smashed by any spin-jumping hedgehogs and the ability to seperate itself at will makes it the perfect enemy for small places. (We uh...haven't figured out how to put it back together after it does that, so.....yeah.....)

Ball Hog. It may look cute and cuddly on the outside, but on the inside it's a powerhouse machine of destruction. Hiding in the shadows gives it the advantage of attack. Of course they don't like to get their hands dirty, so they use giant balls....of DEATH.

Jaws. A Badnik modeled after a Piranha. But unlike a Piranha, it's skin is encased in a hard metallic body. Jaws that may even rival Jaw's Jaws, this chomping Badnik stops at nothing to get it's target. Also, no diving at the pool please.

Burrobot. This Mole robot knows just one thing, to dig dig dig! It burrows itself underground, nose out looking like a harmless left-over drill. But once it feels the vibrations of it's enemy nearby, it JUMPS out and attacks.

Motobug. With a wheel attached to his foot, and sharp blades for hands, it can easily slice and dice any fool that tries to come in it's way.

Orbinaut. This is a ball. This is it's spikes. Watch as the Orbinaut blocks the enemies path, releasing a set of spikes at an alarming rate towards the intruder. With no other option, it launches itself at the intruder as well. Sacrificing itself, for the motherland. This is the bravest damn Badnik I've ever seen, and it's been an honor to work with it......Orbinauts come in different colors, available at your local Egg-mart or Eggs R' Us.

Splats. There's no doubt about it, this mean bunny can jump. The weight of it's body along with the force of the Spring underneath it's body will make you as flat as a pancake shall you ever cross it's path.

Bat Brain. "Gotta go fast!" is our motto around here, and is all the Bat brain knows how to do. Lurking in the shadows, it launches itself from up above, and speeds towards the enemy. A powerful blow for a powerful enemy indeed.

Crabmeat. The pinch of a crab hurts like hell. The pinch of a Crabmeat will kill you, literally. It's may look like an ordinary crab from afar, but you'd best not get in it's way when it spots you.

"You see lad, there are tons of Badniks, and they are the driving force of our country! And to ensure that, each one must not feel like a machine, nor just another lacky, but as an individual. Different Designs ensure a great mind! Keep it up Baddies!"

And pray you don't ever meet them all at once

    Step 3 The Badnik Philosophy.

    Be strong!

    Never turn back!

    And When all else fails

    ...

Now that you've learnt about the Badniks, go on ahead and tells us about them. What is your favorite Badnik? What do you like about them? Thoughts about them? This is a Badnik Topic, so knock yourself out and discuss. Egg Pawn discussions may vary.....

Nintendoga got a reaction from MainJP in Sonic & Tails
So like Sonic and Tails are bros.

It's been established in many continuities that Sonic & Tails are best friends, always looking out and caring for each-other. But it hasn't been till the recent games, where we've really been given a chance to look into their friendship, or Bro-ship Am I rite?

Yeah, we've seen them interact all friendly and stuff in the Adventure games, but they never really showed their brotherly love for each other, only a few quips at each other and such.

However, for the past couple of years, Sega has recently started to develop these two characters. Sonic Colors was the first game to arguably develop Sonic and Tails's relationship. No more was the boring conversations of the past, but now is the relaxing "Big brother, Little brother" type of relationship between them. Sonic was always cracking jokes at Tails, making fun of him while striking up conversations that didn't feel like *reading from the script*, but more so *talking to your best friend*.

Here's a better example, looking at Colors, then go back and look at the older 3D games. You'll find that in Colors, you get a real brotherly vibe from them, like they're not afraid to crack jokes or make fun of each other. You can tell that they've been best friends for a long time, and aren't afraid to show it.

When Eggman was about to fire his mind control ray at Sonic, Tails pushed him out the way, and took the hit for him. Mind you at the time he didn't know what the ray could do. Without a thought for himself, he saved Sonic's life with the possibility of him dying. That *to me I guess* shows a deep relationship between the two so much that Tails would do anything for Sonic. Sonic too, when he shoved Tails to safety, wanted him to be safe and alive, rather then possibly get hurt from Eggman. It's been stated tons of times before, but these plus other scenes show how much they care for each-other.

Then comes Generations which....didn't show much actually. Story? What Story? But in most of the scenes, they (plus their classic selves) care for each other, and it really shows how much their friendship is that Classic Sonic allows Tails to talk for him, and I'm sure if the game had a decent written story, there would have been more scenes showing them interacting more.

So now we got Sonic 4 Ep.2. Since this is a 2D game with no talk-able cutscenes, but now that Tails is there, they really do everything together in that game. And do I mean everything (69'ing, there's your damn sex joke) Sonic relies on Tails to fly, and they use their rolling powers to burst through enemies at hyper-sonic speed. That's all that's been shown for now, but maybe there will be some scenes showing more interaction between them. Who knows?

So there you have it, Sonic & Tails are two bros that always put themselves before hoes. They have a deep brotherly relationship, and don't give a damn if anyone cares or not. I'm glad Sega's trying to develop these two characters, as you don't see brotherly shit like this in most games nowadays. Now to end this on a high note, or should I say, a high-FIVE note.

Played it even tho I said I wasn't going to. What can I say, I'm a tool.

Anyway It's bad, no surprise there. But what got me was just how awful it really was. Everything in this game is a step taken backwards from anything learned or improved upon in the previous 3D Sonic games. What we got here is some of the worst controls since 06, Avatar's noticeably sticking out like a sore thumb among the bunch. I know "Modern Sonic controls like a car" has been said for years, but he really does feel like a stick-shift car going into different gears on his own no matter how hard you try to have full control with him. Each character has major flaws in their controls and makes it frustrating to do precise platforming segments with any of them. There's no real level design in here for any of the 3 characters, just straight lines to boost through with some of the most generic platforming that doesn't even rival Colors's weaker mini acts. Game has a few sparks of something decent there that either ends up ruining itself or the level ending immediately after. Anything else I could say has already been said before by multiple other people.

Oh yeah, and anything regarding Classic Sonic wasn't worth mentioning. Everything about him and his stages are a complete embarrassment to Sega and Sonic Team, especially after Sonic Mania.

Do not waste your time or money with this.

Well this is a shame. I've been coming back to NeoGAF more and more recently because of its generally more progressive stance on issues, so for it to disappear for this particular reason is incredibly disappointing. What a scumbag.

Just caught up with this overnight, the events unfolding over there has been crazy. I had no idea about the previous incidents in 2012 and the child porn stuff, just goes to show how well that was all covered up. :/
It’s a shame because, ironically, I always thought it had a pretty decent community that had collectively had good, progressive values - how ironic that those values were diametrically opposed to that of the site owner.
This whole #metoo stuff, following the Weinstein allegations, is blowing up absolutely everywhere - movie industry, game industry, press, and now even video game forums. It’s eye-opening, and as a bloke who by default never really sees this going on as often as is being described it’s really humbling, too. I can only hope that this encourages more people to talk about this as it seems like this is a conversation that has been suppressed for far too long and needs to be had.

Nintendoga got a reaction from Monkey Destruction Switch in Sonic fans, I'm curious. Why do you continue to support the Sonic franchise when SEGA struggles to keep the quality consistent? What's keeping you around?
Sonic Team is a mess, the track record since Generations has been awful, and not a damn thing in Forces looks appealing to me. But I adore aspects of Sonic, various media like the comics, as well as the community. So I stay.

Supporting the franchise is odd for me cause I don't want to support 3D Sonic. Tired of how Sonic Team treats them. Mania tho, hell yeah more of that. I'll buy every installment of Mania-like games if they keep pumping them out with great quality. I want to support and encourage the future of 2D Sonic games, but definitely not 3D Sonic. 19 years and there's still no 3D Sonic game I can call "great!". Why bother anymore, you know?
