Sonictrainer reacted to JezMM in I always wondered how the Wii version of Unleashed would have been like if the PS2 ve
Honestly when you compare the two, Wii Unleashed's visuals were fairly nice compared to PS2 so I don't think it was held back too much.  If anything, I think the difference is that Colours had it's aesthetics designed from the ground up FOR the Wii. Unleashed was all based on these photogenic, real life locations and the Wii probably couldn't replicate that "real" feel no matter of the PS2 version or not.
Actually, even at the time I felt places like Colours' Tropical Resort didn't feel quite as "real" as Unleashed HD's locations, they had that same kind of vast barrenness that the Wii version of Apotos and Spagonia had - it's hard to put my finger on exactly what I mean by that - I think it's something about the way the buildings all uniformly line the corridor level design?  Wii Unleashed and Colours both had that where Unleashed HD managed to put a lot of details onto the buildings that made it harder to notice the copying and pasting of assets going on across the lengthy levels.
Colours' level designers - and this is praise, not a flaw - were also very good at putting distracting details in the foreground to make the locations seem richer in detail than they actually were.  Like, 60% of the fleet in Starlight Carnival is flat billboards of ships when you really look at them instead of what Sonic is doing.  I will say Colours did better at that than Unleashed HD, which often just lacked distant scenery compared to the HD version or had VERY obvious 2D distant scenery (particularly noticable at the clock tower segment in Rooftop Run Day - honestly almost to the point of quaintness, I kinda loved how obvious the 2D masses of houses in the distance were during the clock tower(s) sequence).

I really liked the Super Ninja outfits, where they all changed their headbands and designs to black and added a few extra weapons to their arsenal. These were only used in serious missions against Shredder.

I will say The Power of United States has a really pretty visual style I wish the series would had/kept but I don't mind S/M's style all too much.
That said its rather jarring that there isn't any Alola themed movies at all. Probably because all the Legendaries and UBs are tied to the plot and there isn't a ton of mythicals released like back in Gen 4 and 5.
This situation kind of reminds me of how its like during the Yugioh Arc V era where the movie was solely based on DM and didn't had any trace of the current season in it. Thankfully Pokemon didn't suffer from the same production issues Arc V had due to the movie's production taking away from it.

Sonictrainer reacted to Strickerx5 in Saw the Steven Universe movie it's ok.
Eh, what can I say? Found the plot to be interesting as hell considering what the show has built to at this point. Also has a lot of subtle lines that one only really catches upon repeat viewings which is one of my secret weak points in media. Spinel is probably one of my favorite characters in recent memory.
And the animation, dear lord the animation. Like, it's still very much TV animation but it has the same glow to it that the PPG movie had. Same style, but with a much higher budget.
As for the music, well I can certainly see how other might not have enjoyed it. Music is incredibly subject. But for me, shit, I've been blasting the soundtrack in my car this entire week. The entire cast kills it in each song.
My only real gripe about it are that they did choose to spend a lot of time taking us through all the same development steps for each of the crystal gems but even that had so many great moments woven into it that I can't really say I care all that much while actually watching it.

I actually didn't liked Press Garden the first time I've played, I admit. I might actually hated it! The music didn't caught me and the level design was all over the place. I don't know exactly why I felt that way before, because on my second playthrough of Mania, I ended up loving it! The music especially. Everything clicked somehow, go figure. I'm actually between Press Garden and Studiopolis as my favorite Mania zones.
Oh, to have a game full of brand new zones... as much as I love Stardust Speedway, Chemical Plant, Flying Battery and heck, even Oil Ocean re-designs and ideas. I mean, at the end of the way, the game is just so fucking great to play and (pleasant to listen) that I don't even care which level I'm playing, simple as that. Games should be fun before anything else in my book. Heck, even Green Hill for the 20th time was good in Mania because of the level design, new gimmicks and twists.
