Tighter controls, borrows level designs idea from Colors without removing the thrill factor of Unleashed, more open level design and spaces to "breath in" similar to Adventure Stages (In-fact City Escape Modern defeats the old City Escape in all aspects that made City Escape and Adventure like stage, removal of blatant QTEs with a trick system, a more controlable Air Boost, Tighter Drifting (using correctly makes Sonic go faster than boosting speeds), more forgivable level design punishing you with more strenuous routes instead of death, more platforming, harder to maintain boost meter...I can keep going. Seriously people who think Generations has not gone to improvements are blind.

Generations is borrowing the good aspects of Modern games and applying it all at once from Adventure 1 to Colors. And being that I like Modern Style gameplay...to take the Sonic gameply from other Modern games that I like and mixing up with an already solid gameplay style....is awsome for me.

In-fact while Generations has the art style of Unleashed and borrows ideas from it. Generations has a much better chance to reach out and touch somebody. You can almost call it newish.

You know how when you order pizza from pizza hut...it taste preety good at first, but taste worse as you keep eating it?

This is what I feel about the 3DS version. Excuse me for being more excited with new levels re-imagined with a shit ton of cool stuff and references, with slightly diffrent physics.

In-fact Sonic Generations is the only Anniversary game this year...(or in a long time I believe) that is taking old levels and doing something new with them... while everyone one else is just coating stuff with paint and releasing it expecting it to be praised.

People complain about Sonic Team being lazy, but wouldn't it be the even LAZIER route if we just got...

this and called it a day? No effort is getting put in Generations HD my ass.

Classic Sonic in Generations is a lot like the New Looney Tunes. The new people of today making that show know that they can't top the "perfection" of the older cartoons...so instead they put a twist on things...still making the show enjoyable without going too much out of contex of what made the looney tunes a great cartoon to watch.

    Not Really.

    Could have fooled me.

There is ways to present yourself without sounding duchebagish. Shadster is a great example of this. When you present yourself in a rude way don't complain when people are rude back. Not everyone in the world are passive and are going to brush you off when you speak as in I or other people are in bad taste for liking Generations.

To bad I don't view it as a crappy fix...I like the more intense, faster spindash, but if it was like that in the genesis days it would obviously not work. It goes to show you that C Sonic mechanics are indeed thought out to work well with the level its built for since you want to go that route.

Also your endless butt hurt that a game doesn't play exactly like your dream title amuses me. For someone who says in their sig that they are tired of being angry about Sonic...you sure aren't living up to it.

We just need Sonic 3 & Knuckles: 2.

Then the franchise will be saved, forever.

inb4 "NOOoo, you know EXACTLY what I mean, we need competent programmers, better physics, better level mechanics, less 2D in modern stages, less automation, slower gameplay, more platforming, more open levels, etc. >8U rawwwr!"

Welp, you're in for a long wait.

inb4 "fangames did it. I dunno why these things are so hard for Sega."

    Go play your fangame then.

inb4 "Go ahead and keep having low standards and no taste. "

I'll go ahead and keep having fun, thank you very much. It's not the classics, but it's fun in it's own way, and I'm not afraid of things that are different.

SweeCrue reacted to HunterTSF in Sally Acorn a official Sega character?
Oh lawdy, this argument is so incredibly flawed. I'll just start off be reiterating what everybody else has said by stating that although Ken Kinoshita's Sally Acorn is loosely based off of Naoto Ōshima's Ricky, she isn't Ricky. They are two entirely different characters (if you could even call Ricky a "character"; he's more of a "species"), designed by two entirely different people, on two entirely different continents. By using her same logic you could say that Peter Griffin is, in actuality, Homer Simpson solely because he happens to be loosely based off of him. It's just silly. There was absolutely no communication whatsoever between either Sally or Ricky's respective character creators during their designing processes, and they hold nothing in common aside from having somewhat similar appearances and appearing within two very different branches of the same entertainment franchise.

Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball has no bearing whatsoever on the Sonic Team universe canon, as it was developed by the third party Sega Technical Institute. It should also be worth noting that it was Sally Acorn who made a cameo appearance in this game, and not Ricky. The opposite could be said for Sonic X, and that's just fine; Ricky is canon to the Sonic Team universe upon which that animated series was based off of, after all. (It should also be noted that neither case is relevant, as none of these take place within Sonic Team's Sonic the Hedgehog universe.)

Ricky is called Ricky in Japan, because Ricky's name is Ricky ("リッキー" or "Rikkī"). Japanese fans of Sally Acorn call her Sally Acorn ("サリー・エイコーン" or "Sarī Eikōn"). Because that's her name, and she isn't Ricky.

Now, with that aside, let's address the big picture here. There is no singular "SEGA canon". There are many SEGA canons, all canonical to their respective universe. The main canon featured within the games takes place within Sonic Team's Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Another popular one happens to be TMS Entertainments' Sonic X universe. Many people also happen to be fans of DiC's Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog universe. They're all valid canons within their own respective universes, and SEGA owns the rights to all of these properties. They are all "SEGA canons", all being "official" material.

What this poster seems to be referring to is the canon featured within the games, which takes place in Sonic Team's Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Sally Acorn is not canon to this universe at all, no. She has not appeared in any Sonic Team-developed game, and most probably never will. She still however, is canon to several other official SEGA universes, such as Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog universe and DiC's Sonic the Hedgehog universe.

Ricky, however is canon to this universe, making several appearances throughout the series in Sonic Team-developed games, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic & Knuckles.

It's also worth noting that either way, Amy Rose has been around longer than Sally Acorn. Shogakukan's Sonic the Hedgehog Shogaku Yonensei (the manga in which Amy Rose made her debut) began publication in 1992, whilst Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog (the comic book series in which Sally Acorn made her debut) didn't begin print until 1993.

    The moar you know~

SweeCrue reacted to Dr. Mechano in Sally Acorn a official Sega character?
Allow me to tear this argument apart for the final time.

Alright, first things first. There's a huge difference between Sally being owned by Sega (which she is) and Sally being recognized by Sega as part of their canon (which she isn't). Clear? Good.

Second, Ricky is neither Sally nor a unique person in the Sega games. Ricky is more like a species of squirrel, since we've seen multiple Rickies onscreen at once, particularly after freeing them from an Egg Capsule. Ricky is a type of squirrel just as Flicky is a type of bird- No one considers Flicky a unique character, after all.

The Freedom Fighters were loosely based on the small animals Sonic rescued in the games, but that doesn't mean they're the same characters. However, even if they were, they're so altered as to be unrecognizable and these versions simply would not apply to the game series. Few people argue that the AoStH version of Robotnik was canon to the video games, or that the Grounders from Aquatic Ruin Zone were comically-moronic turquoise-colored robots rather than the red drones they were. Even if you want to make the tenuous Ricky-Sally connection, the character from SatAM and Archie is still so drastically different that it becomes a non-issue; She's never been in the games proper (Save the clearly non-canon Sonic Spinball with its 16 blue Chaos Emeralds among other contradictions), and she never will be.

Yes, Sega owns the rights to Sally Acorn. But they also own the rights to Sonia, Manic, Chris Thorndyke, and a host of other unneeded and unwanted characters who thankfully aren't part of the video game canon. In the end, she's only canon to SatAM and Archie, two derivative continuities that are (very) loosely based on the games, and that's all she ever will be. To think that she's canon to the game series is pure delusional fantasy.

I'm just laughing at the people saying "DERP, WHY CAN'T WE RHESTART TO GET AN S RANK? OMG SEGA FIX NOW!!!" Wow... I see this as a MAJOR improvement. You don't know the COUNTLESS number of times that I've pressed that restart button just for an S rank, Y'see, in my opinion, S ranks are there for replay ability and having that that option just makes it WAY to easy to get an S rank on the first time.

I bet this reply is going to get LOADS of negative votes by those very same people that are complaining...

My Little Pony is good? Lolz, CWC made one out of pubic hair. *enter backlash*

    Me during the first episode:
Lolz, this won't be that good...huh...

    Me after the first episode:
I liked it...I really liked a post-2003 cartoon?? Better be careful not to get sucked into this...*one month later* screw it I'm watching more episodes!

Me after a few more episodes:

I very much like this show! something about it feels so right and it ain't just the colors. sort of reminds me of the cartoons I watched as a kid do but...Better! I can't say for sure but I see a great show that doesn't make me facepalm or flip the channel in boredom. More at 11.

Because I don't like having to come into this topic, I'm going to ask darkhaven3 to not get so worked up over this. While you're free to express your dislike about the show, openly calling the people who like it a cancer blindly following some fad isn't going to win you any points anywhere, and it would be appreciated if you just left it with your first sentence alone. What you said is pretty insulting.

EDIT: D-damn it why does this post have so much +rep, don't you bronies know I'm not even on your side you fools
