  1. It really amazes me how The Last Jedi holds a 91% (higher than INFINITY WAR) on RT yet literally ALL the highest most popular videos about it on YT are rtired 'hot takes' on why it fails on every concievable level to be a movie with millions of views and likes. Star Wars fans confuse me

Have you seen the audience rating though? It's quite low compared to its bretheren. Sometines the public are better critics than the actual critics.

That's what I go with, there's a pretty clear dissonance between critics and what the audience itself actually feels about something.

And really? The Last Jedi was shit.

Honestly, Star Wars has quite a large critical dissonance compared to Marvel.

Infinity War delivers to all but the most critical and hardcore (and even they are careful how they go about it) as opposed to Star Wars where the public gives more insight, for better or worse, compared to the critics who don’t delve as deeply as they do.

Probably doesn’t help that Disney ditched the Star Wars Expanded Universe and retconned as uncanon in favor of their own completely original take, whereas they didn’t do that with Marvel Comics and wherea lot more faithful or hands off. That’s definitely a major factor.

Needless to say,  Disney haven't been handling Star Wars nearly as proper they've treated the MCU.

I mean, I know many were excited for the possibility that they’d adapt the Thrawn trilogy given how those were (and likely still are) considered the unofficial Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.

Not getting that went sour with a lot of folks.

I think there's also a heavy dissonance in the actual fanbase too. Even outside the hardcore base, you have people (like myself) who watch all of these movies and don't think nearly as long about them as some do. From my experience, these are often the people who love this film as they just see it as a fun, engaging movie.

It's probably one of those things where your enjoyment factor greatly depends on how invested into the series you are. There are things in the movie that I could absolutely see myself hating if I cared more about these characters but since I don't, those flaws simply aren't that prevalent to me.

And then there's the actual execution with these Star Wars films just getting pumped out, and the new trilogy not even having some consistent story guy like Feige or Lucas to keep the ship on track. Case in point, us getting Rian Johnson's drek script that spits in the face of continuity with Episode 7 too many times to count.
