When are the Sonic Labyrinth fanboys going to get what they deserve? I propose a 57th timeline so we can finally get more games about Eggman stealing Sonic's shoes.

what a despicable person, can't believe he's essiantly dancing on the grave of a beloved comic and tons of writers and artists lost a working opportunity as a result, fuck this scumbag, he shouldnt have the gall to act like this after getting what he wanted with the whole court fiasco

Tails in this short is insecure about his status as a sidekick in a way that makes sense for where they're trying to take it. Cartoon network shows now are mostly about teaching kids how to deal with  feelings of jealousy and inadequacy. It makes sense that it turns out Tails was worried over nothing once he and Sonic actually talk about it. A simple premise but it has the basic follow-through and resolution that Lost World doesn't. In that game Tails's immature feeling are validated by the story and nothing was done with it despite the longer runtime.
I'm pretty satisfied with Tails as a whole in this. I like the subtle characterization with him actually helping KO tangibly several times when Sonic proves to be a lackluster mentor. Sonic having an ego and being a bit of a blowhard is fine with me too. I think he's more interesting that way.

Was Heroes the only game you played in the 2000's or what?
I'm not going to say that Sonic was the most interesting character back then, but that's blatantly false and more conjecture of how people meme'd him back then,

Honestly, if they were going for references for references' sake, like I very much believe they'd go the route of referencing memes, or recent titles, as those are what would resonate most with kids who's watching this with Sonic. Maybe some classic stuff with Mania...
...but going to the extent that the animators/creators of this show are doing goes beyond that level. You don't just make references to Chaotix, AoStH, and a random issue of Archie Sonic (which only would've been widely available in one country no less), or hell - go to the effort of literally frame by frame recreating the intros of the original games, right down to the exact letter of animation that is present in that promo.
I'm sorry, but it's extremely obvious that these references are being made by a group of people who actually know about the series, and enjoy it to a high degree, to go so far as to go beyond the games and extend the references to additional media like AoStH or Archie.
What I'd consider a "pandering reference towards some kids" is placing Sanic into Forces via a t-shirt. I don't consider adding things that are actually smart references that require additional knowledge of the series to get as "pandering". If you didn't know about the Death Egg arc in Archie, it'll look like a generic Sonic comic cover. If you do, it shows how much research the creators placed into making this episode.
Like using that same line of logic, you could basically use that as a black mark against Mania as well. "They're just pandering to Classic fans by putting Nack, Bean and Bark into the game via cameos". There's a pretty conclusion line of difference between pandering references for no reason, and placing in smart additional details that are designed as pure fan-service for fans of the series.
The same way you can tell from the beginning that Mania is developed by a set of passionate fans who are in love with this series and want to do it justice, you can tell that the creators of KO are big Sonic fans and also want to do it justice as well.

The obligatory people who get their undies in a twist over the existence of Sonic characters.

The fact that they think the apparent lack of characters somehow equals out to the series being better because of said nonexistence of characters, has no idea what makes a great Sonic game, nor has any idea how game design works in general.

It's an honestly fascinating problem that WayForward developed a deliberate thematically one-off gameplay gimmick for Pirate's Curse, but they made it too well and it accidentally plays better than the main series.  I don't think they can possibly make "Shantae is a pirate now" the premise of the whole series without betraying what came before, but it's going to be very interesting to see what they can take forward.  For example, if the dances become instantaneous, are they really still dances?

No National Dex is a genuine problem but I'm not gonna let it turn me off. People jumping ship, canceling pre-orders, saying how it's the final straw and the ultimate culmination of Pokemons downfall post Gen V? Yall are valid. I don't agree with any of it but you do you. Sometimes people make clickbait titles because it's a good way to take advantage of Youtube's frankly broken algorithim.

I think what @Soniman was referring to was the false sense of entitlement some fans seem to have in terms of entertainment.
It’s not a new mindset for fans to act like their favorite franchises and companies have to conform to every suggestion they make on the basis that the fans somehow know the creative process best, even if they don’t actually participate in it on a professional level. But it hasn’t gotten less obnoxious over the years, and social media unfortunately gives fans a viable platform when before those same fans would just send off letters that got discarded by some minimum wage employee.
And of course it’s not a bad idea to listen to your most loyal customers, but frankly your typical fan, especially with gaming, is not an expert at making and business-managing the things they complain endlessly about. That is not actually a bad thing at all; you don’t need to be a pro chef to know when a soufflé has fallen. But it can contribute to an unhealthy cycle of toxicity— fans demand things that don’t make sense from a business perspective, so companies cannot win no matter what, which fuels further demands if it’s not implemented or fuels new complaints when it’s implemented and doesn’t pan out as well as the fans thought it would. For example, there’s not exactly a shortage of Pokémon fans who, if they had their way, would keep all the games in Kanto with no new Pokémon or mechanics ever, but that’s not feasible for any franchise. It also arguably doesn't even address Sword and Shield’s problems, instead putting a Red and Blue coat of paint on them. The only way to shut down the cycle is for companies to make judgement calls and stick to them long term.
These kinds of things tend to be slippery slopes when the internet gets involved— the initial point of outrage is usually understandable, but unreasonable people use it as an opportunity to push their much less reasonable agenda, others poison the well with deliberate misinformation and/or scandalmongering for money and attention, others just take it as an excuse to be an overly aggressive jerk towards other humans while demanding that people respect them in spite of (and sometimes for) it, and in worst case scenarios the actual not-unreasonable source of outrage is eventually forgotten in exchange for people focusing exclusively on the irrational and misinformation-laden crap.
This isn’t even close to being pro-corporate. I think GF made a lot of stupid decisions with Sword and Shield and should be criticized for them. But what I am saying is that  the mindset that all negative criticisms from fans come from a fundamentally good, competent, and reasonable place that deserves priority focus from creators is unhealthy, which is what I think @Soniman was aiming his criticism at and what I believe to be a valid concern for people who don’t want to get targeted for hate and harassment over a freaking video game of all things. As @Kuzu the Boloedge hinted at earlier, outrage culture is an unhealthy thing built on unrealistic terms and expectations, has been worsened by social media, and it should be criticized for its negative effects on discussion and understanding. Long term cultural change doesn’t happen quickly but it requires a consistent effort from people to occur at all.

Because people raised enough of a stink about the Sonic movie to get it delayed fans of other franchise got it in their heads that big corporations should immediately bend to any and all fan demands if they complain loud enough. It kinda creates a unhealthy set of expectations when most of the time....it doesn't work like that at all and developers usually stick yo their guns because they believe they know what's best + money

At this point, its literally take it or leave it. Bitching and complaining isn't going to do anything anymore because Masuda has put his foot down on the issue once and for all. It's happening whether you like it or not.

The reasons or justifications don't matter anymore. So either cancel the pre order and move on to another series, or continue playing. But this entire discourse is pointless now.

What did people expect really? They knew putting back in the ND wasn't gonna be feasible no matter how much people complained about it. Matsuda probably just wanted to make the word on that final in case people thought otherwise.
IT sucks and people are free to keep shitting on the game, but they probably just wanted to rip off the band-aid
