  1. I think SRB2 may be my favorite 3D Sonic game at this point. More than Adventure or any other title. Playing some nice fan-made remixes of classic sonic OST in the background of these fantastic levels is the best 3D Sonic experience. At this point I'm looking forward more to the next major update that adds more acts and levels to SRB2 than I am the next big Sonic game.

The modding community helps out alot in it's replay value, not that the vanilla game ain't super replayable as is. Several different characters, levels and more that change up what's already there is a big plus for me.

It's up there with A Hat in Time as my most replayed 3D platformers these days

I recently installed it on my laptop, and I pop the game open for the odd playthrough about as much as I do with Mania for a quick romp now. Wasn't always like this, as I've always found everything before 2.2 to be boring, but the amount of fluidity the new level design, slopes, and automation (read: springs) really feels like the classic games brought fully to life in a 3D space at long last, and I couldn't be happier with the end result. Actual comfort junk food in video game format after a hard days work.

Bonus points for being a game that completely lacks a default homing attack, and has enemies literally paper-thin, yet against those odds features bounce-jumping in it's level design that feels infinitely more satisfying to pull off than in a 2D space. Those are the classic platforming mechanics that I am 100% here for.

2.2 was one heck of an update, it was the first time SRB2 really felt like a complete game to me. It's been so fun and interesting seeing how far the game has come after all these years.

and they still have quite a bit to add too. iirc there's still 2 more zones, 1 more act for Red Mountain, and a Super Sonic boss

There's two more acts for Red Volcano, since it lacks a boss fight currently.
