I think SRB2 may be my favorite 3D Sonic game at this point. More than Adventure or any other title. Playing some nice fan-made remixes of classic sonic OST in the background of these fantastic levels is the best 3D Sonic experience. At this point I'm looking forward more to the next major update that adds more acts and levels to SRB2 than I am the next big Sonic game.

I stopped make status updates about political issues and real life events because they make me crazy, they're more often than not, depressing and other times just f*cking tedious.
I want to make an exception this one time. Seeing the public react to the tragic events of a Fire Fighter losing his business which was his dream he never even got to open. It was burnt down and looted.
As of typing this, it's raised above $437,000. I don't know if that'll be enough to try again but it does rekindle my hope for humanity.

Just saw this really awful clickbait article. "Sega Prepares Console Comeback, and they're about to Get Wrecked!"
I usually ignore these but this one sounded so funny I gave them what they wanted and clicked.
These are the three bullet points at the start of the article:
"1. One journalist is teasing some big Sega news for June 4th.
    2. June 3rd is the group's 60th Anniversary.
    3. Could Sega be prepping to re-enter the console war?"
You got that. Some other journalist said Sega's got news coming. Also the 60th anniversary is coming up. And then he just re-states the question.
"Considering June 3rd is Sega's 60th anniversary, there's reason to think the company is re-entering the hardware game."
I don't need to explain to you all why there totally isn't reason to think that at all. The article just goes on about how terrible of an idea it would be and doesn't provide any proof or viable information as to why. The closest they get to doing so is when they talk about Sega Shiro, the son of Segata Sanshiro who promoted the Saturn.
"Why follow up a marketable character if you're not following up on the product he was meant for? It's almost as if Sega is gearing up for a big advertising push." it says.
Yeah, geez. You know it's almost as if it's their 60th Anniversary and that would call for a big advertising push.
    It's kind of hilarious.
The five comments on the article all point out how shit it is so no one's falling for it but it doesn't matter. So long as they get the clicks, it's all good.
I won't be deliberately giving them clicks anymore but doing it once was good for a laugh.

I've been back at modding Sonic Mania; for a while now I've wanted to be able to play Encore MSZ1 in Mania Mode instead of the Sky Chase act, but it's unbelievably hard to actually do that and have it work properly.
I've finally got it working properly anywho.
«video» But the catch was the stage listing was now missing a slot, so the File Select menu was sending me to the wrong stages.
...so now I've added AIZ from Encore's intro in as an intermission zone between Hydrocity and Mirage Saloon, and I'm extending it a bit and adding some Mania Mode exclusive extras

Pretty much official now that I'll be attempting to go back to community college in the fall (this time completely online,) to once again try to wrap up my associate's degree to make my family happy. Wasn't gonna do so anytime soon as I was juuust about to go full force on comic and art stuff this year outside of my irl job, but my aunt's job has a program that'll pay for everything I'd need to go back so I couldn't really turn that down.

Well I basically just graduated university today, and I've come to 3 conclusions:
    1. I should've picked a different major.
    2. If I have to read or learn anything more about chemistry, I may just have a panic attack.
    3. AP/honors classes in highschool are, the majority of the time, worse than a college bachelors degree. Excluding maybe the most rigorous 300/400 level courses, and I could only think of maybe 2 or 3 classes in this regard. It's not like my university was considered easy either, our science program is rigorous. It's way too much pressure for those highschool students. I feel sorry for all the young kids who had to go through all that bullshit. God bless you guys lol you're warriors of perseverance.

Beaten Streets or Rage 4 and unlocked every character.
Overall, this game is a pretty mixed bag. It's like one step forward, 2 steps back for the franchise.
They definitely improved certain things (no time limit, no 'autopilot' at the end of sections so you can collect items/weapons at your own leisure before continuing, enemies bounce back from the edge of the fight arena so you don't have to wait for them to come back, being able to catch weapons in midair and perform the 'landing on feet' after not just throws but getting knocked over as well is cool). And thank GOD there were no damn flying enemies/bosses.
But then they changed certain things for the worse. No running (except for 1 character) and dodge roll? Really? Not only is that a regression for the franchise, let alone the genre itself, it's very counterintuitive, since they throw so much shit at you and expect you to avoid it all, AND they made a combo system that rewards you points the bigger combo you achieve. Well, good luck racking up that counter with characters that are slow as shit so it takes them ages to catch up with enemies, unless you're jumping around like an idiot.
After unlocking the SOR3 version of the characters, I don't want to play as the "new" versions ever again. They are inferior in pretty much every aspect. So as a "bonus", you finally get to play how the game should have played right from the start.
    Other annoying things:
    - no branching paths
    - no AI companion option
    - when trying to pick up an item whiel holding a weapon, you can accidentally throw your weapon if you are not 100% perfectly aligned with the item, as the pick up and throw is the same button
    - throwing certain weapons (like the cleaver) have like a second of delay for some reason
    - that charged attack is pretty useless, as it takes like a second or two to charge up, and you can't jump while holding it. You're not gonna have that much free time in big battles, should have been a separate button.
    - you can't see the durability of your weapon (in SOR3, they had a health bar for it)
    - you drop your weapon when you do a dodge/lane change roll (it wasn't like that in SOR3)
    - you can't carry over your star move between stages in Arcade mode
    - annoying sections where there is only one lane so you can't dodge anything, and your view is obscured
    - the game just feels like an updated SOR2 or updated SOR3 when you unlock the SOR3 characters. There's nothing really new here at all.
Maybe I've been spoiled by Streets of Rage Remake and Beats of Rage mods, but after playing those, this feels pretty lacking.

    Afternoon SSMB,
Well, if I'm greeting everyone you know that means I have art to share 🤣
Anyway, this piece is more concept art than actually piece of art per say, but if anyone remembers this old post of mine
where I was spitballing ideas for how the traditional run/jump/roll single button gameplay of the classics could be kept while making characters unique, then this piece will make a bit more sense to you.

I took the no hammer moveset idea I had from that old post and applied it to Rosy, my Amy Rose redesign. It's a bit of a mess, but I hope it more clearly illustrates how I see that moveset working (though I made a couple of changes here to make it less cumbersome). Anyway, please enjoy and remember you can find it on my art thread as well
