Gregzilla reacted to Nepenthe in Detective SSMB & The Case of the Sonic 25th Anniversary "P.g. 100 is the best... food discussion started."
The misleading portion was directly saying there was upcoming news and then revealing that it was someone's acquisition of a job in a thread centered around news concerning the franchise's impending celebration. All that does is present it as an upcoming announcement relevant to the interests of people posting in this thread, which was undoubtedly the joke: "Present this thing as anniversary news but then reveal that it isn't". And while people have been slaving away over numbers and trying to wring hype from that (not sure why at this point), the fact also remains that Retro has far more credibility than Aaron who has made many troll attempts beforehand which naturally tempers any expectations coming from his mouth, whereas Retro has been good with leaks, dumps, and other news of the sort. Fool me once and all of that.
The context informs the expectations that people were going to create, and thus it is unreasonable to say that anyone getting their hopes up is actually in the wrong on this one as a result. If you don't want people to be upset about announcements that have nothing to do with the games, well, don't make announcements of announcements of job acquisitions in the game threads and attach Retro to it. This would have gone over much better had it simply been presented as news pertinent to PR in either a separate thread or a status update.

Here's a little thing that really bugs me about the new games: Sonic's "getting hurt" animation.
In the classics and many of the older 3D games, when Sonic got hurt he would blink and do a short little hop in the air backwards, and the second he hit the ground you could control him again.  In the newer main games, Sonic just falls on his ass like a dweeb and sits there motionless for a second.  Might not sound too bad, but it's definitely a longer and more annoying waiting period than taking damage in older games.
It's such a small thing and yet it annoys me to no end.
EDIT: I don't think Lost World was as bad in this regard but the Boost games are huge culprits.

    Uh...strange.

Whenever folks rip on Nazo Unleashed, I'm usually one to step in and cut it a break.  In my younger days I thought it was the coolest thing ever, and though it's pretty silly now, I still think it's impressive for what it was back then.

That said, if he's worked in animation companies and has greatly improved since then, I think it's a pretty weird choice to try and continue this series.  It had its run.  I feel like an original project would be a much better use of time and potential Kickstarter money.  Not that I blame him for WANTING to do this, but trying to go through with a project like this using somebody else's property seems destined to fail.

I'd love a Metroid anime/OVA that shows a bit of Samus' childhood with her parents dying and getting raised by the Chozo and stuff.  Maybe a more canon take on the events of the manga.  Could be really good if handled well.
And I still think Star Fox would make for a great sci fi action-comedy in some form.  Tons of characters to work with, and it probably wouldn't be too hard to put them in fun situations.
