Most of us saw it as being a poor game coming a while away. Some people still stuck up for it up until it released. Then there are the rare few (outside SSMB) who still stick up for it a la Sonic 2006.
Though I don't think we expected the game to be so buggered up in QA.
I'm usually very optimistic when it comes to Sonic, but even I wasn't such when it came to Rise of Lyric. Seriously one doesn't see me express negativity often with Sonic. However, I was surprised that it turned out being broken and boring as it is.
