  1. I hope one of the presents the Sonic franchise gets this year from Sega is "a budget"

  2. (tweet)

C'mon Nintendo/Sega, do it you cowards

  3. Kazuya should be in Smash with this as his victory animation

  4. It just occured to me: Sakurai wasn't the one proposing Banjo, Nintendo made all the Smash DLC picks, or at least proposed them all. THEY pushed for Banjo. It makes the selection even more fascinating. They could've gone for anyone, but opted for their good old bear friend.

It was probably the easiest option to build goodwill with as well as one with the least hassle since Microsoft were already open to letting them use him apparently. It also as well was probably a good starting point on a serious long running partnership, and secured Nintendo the opportunity to get banjo games back on their platform, so I can definitely see this being pushed by Nintendo for marketing purposes

    2. Teoskaven

The ballot results influenced as well, and while it was still voting period, Phil Spencer expressed approval and happiness for people voting Banjo. It's clear Nintendo had to spot this from distance.

It's really weird, putting Banjo in just feels like a 100% "This is for you" gift to Smash players with no corporate ulterior motive behind it, despite there being obvious business benefits to it. Maybe that's just what Banjo does to me, heh.

    Sega, after a month:

    1. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

I also like how the remake has more new content than the new game.

    2. TCB
  6. I'm eager to see the CTR sales, man.

  7. Been playing TMNT: Rescue Palooza today and had an absolute blast. It's a fangame beat em up paying homage to the 80s show and games with a whopping 17 stages and an astonishing 60 (yes, Sixty!) playable characters - it's pretty darn well made, polished and just good time. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

  8. Mortal Kombat being such a high selling franchise is so weird to me, since over here in Germany, the games were outright banned for years.

So basically, I lived in a bubble where noone even really knew what the heck a Mortal Kombat was pre-internet, so when I found out about the series and dived into it a little deeper, I was like "Holy shit, it sold HOW many?"

    1. pppp

Well remember, MK1 was the first game ever to show lots of blood and gore. Controversy means free advertising.

  9. I'm really stoked to see the next Smash Bros Ultimate characters... despite the announcement still being months and months away and the fact that the last one barely happened a week ago.

    1. SupahBerry

Yeah, the Hero and Banjo can help tide us over, but I for can barely stand the tension from not know who are the last two fighters. I've long kept myself open minded on who gets in, the only thing that can stop a fighter from getting in is if another one gets in first.

Yet I feel so doubtful because of how many dream fighters I'd want to get in, knowing I'll never actually see all of them get in. And I've long since let go of even the slightest chance they'll be more after that.

I just want them to say who the last two fighters are and get it over with.

    2. Soniman

      I want Crash

    1. RedFox99

Wait, the Wii wasn't already dead?

    2. PublicEnemy1

@RedFox99 The Just Dance games were the ONLY games released on the Wii after, like, 2013.

  11. 4 Animes incoming to the west.

    1. The Tenth Doctor

      The Tenth Doctor

Is it the real Professor Layton or his daughter? Cause I kinda like him better.

  12. TSR dropping down to 75% of its launch price in the consoles' stores after a mere month

    The Crash fear is real

    1. Corviknight

"Watch out! You're gonna Crash! AHH!"

Pretty much every US digital store, as far as I can tell.

  13. You know, obviously Heihachi is the top contender when people discuss Tekken characters in Smash, but what if we got Kazuya or Jin and they'd actually be able to transform into their Devil forms, either triggered by something or by will (down B), with each of the forms having advantages and disadvantages?

    1. Wraith

what if we got asuka and she did the spinny kick thing and ruined my rank like in the actual game

    2. KHCast

I don’t know which one I’d want more for the next fighting game rep: Soul Calibur or Tekken. Like I’ve dabbled in each series, but am not like super familiar with either.

  14. Now that the heavily rumored/basically confirmed Hero and the also heavily rumored Banjo Kazooie are in Smash, the Ultimate Discussion is finally getting interesting again. I kinda missed it.

    1. Marcello

Now it'll just be people suggesting garbage like Jibanyan or Crash.

    2. KHCast

      Jibanyan I agree

Crash though? I see no reason he’d be a garbage choice given his influence in gaming. He is a mascot for an entire era of PS1 games. Definitely can see him with near as positive reactions as banjo tbh.

    3. Jovahexeon Ogilvie Maurice

      Jovahexeon Ogilvie Maurice

Especially considering how well on the Switch Crash sold too.

  15. Why the heck would you ask Iizuka, head of a platforming series, about eSports

That'd be like someone going to the producer of DOOM and asking if a farming simulator is on the table

    1. Corviknight

I mean there is that Puyo Esports thing going on but I don't think they realized they had the wrong guy.

    2. Indigo Rush

      Indigo Rush

      Sonic Runners could've been an eSport ¯\_༼ ಥ ‿ ಥ ༽_/¯
