  1. I'd like to say I predict another Sonic Mania after its success but I don't see it happening unfortunately. From what I gather, the Mania developers seem to have moved on. I might be wrong though
  2. I don't really know what to think of this. It happens a lot in the gaming industry unfortunately
  3. Probably Sticks or Lyric. Both are generic and one dimensional. I just find both unappealing and uninteresting. Coincidentally they are both from Sonic Boom
  4. Yes there were several good periods. The Adventure era in particular is a highlight in the series next to the classic era. The classic era was the longest and most consistent. The Adventure era was short due to the Dreamcast being discontinued
  5. I've seen a lot of hype around this game. I never played the first one. Is it worth playing through the first one and then Part 2? Or should I just go straight into Part 2?
  6. Currently playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Sonic Mania. New Horizons has mostly lived up to my expectations despite a few rough edges which are being fixed through updates. They also brought a lot back from the original Nintendo 64/GameCube Animal Crossing
  7. It depends on the context. I thought she was pretty funny in Sonic Adventure 2. She just needs to be written better. She doesn't need her personality dropped
  8. I don't find her old personality annoying. I found her hilarious at times. She just needed better writing
  9. Posted my first topic here in a long time.

  10. Over the past year there has been a lot of discussion about a hypothetical Sonic Adventure remake. Iizuka first said he could see the rough edges the game has and would be interested in remaking it back in January 2019 in an interview with Retro Gamer Magazine. This fueled discussion in the community. Regardless or whether one is happening or not, what would you like to see in a possible remake? When it comes to the gameplay, I'd like to see the movement and physics made more in line with the classics. Keep all of the new abilities Adventure introduced but make the physics a lot more accurate to the classics. This is kinda what Adventure was going for but didn't quite get right. The movement in Adventure is arguably the best Sonic has controlled in 3D but they can take it a lot further and fine tune it. Make the movement more momentum based and follow the physics rules of the classics, remove the scripting and duct tape holding the gameplay together. Perhaps add the peel-out to Sonic's move set, etc. Sonic Utopia is a great example of what I'm referring to when it comes to translating the physics of the classics into 3D. When it comes to the presentation, I'd like them to go into the archives and dig-out all of the original design documents and design guides. The proportions of the characters were originally a little shorter and stubbier. The character designs were in between Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic. These design guides exist for every character. There's no doubt tons of concept art for the HUB worlds and stages in the archives which they could bring out and recreate without the limitations of the Dreamcast. However, I'm concerned they won't and will use the current character designs and art style from Lost World-Forces. A lot of game companies require new games to use the current on-brand character models and design guides. The art style is a big part of Sonic Adventure's charm and a remake would fall flat with the look of Forces.
  11. At least she had a personality before. Now she's just bland and uninteresting. You could swap her out with any other character and not see a difference
  12. An ARMS fighter tie-in with a sequel would be kinda weird. I thought ARMS came and went?
  13. I'd rather see an attempt at a Sonic Adventure remake than a new title at this point. It would be a base to move forward with
  14. Team Sonic Racing was a huge disappointment. Especially compared to Transformed. Do you think we'll see another racing or has Team Sonic Racing put an end to the series?

We don't know really, but it depends on SEGA and SUMO Digital on whether or not we would get another racing game.

    2. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

When it comes to Sonic, SEGA seem to pull the plug as soon as something doesn't meet expectations. There are no second chances, attempts to remedy the situation or the opportunity to learn from mistakes. So it doesn't matter how successful ASR and ASRT were, it only took TSR to kill the franchise. We saw something similar with the Riders games. I don't think there'll be about TSR/ASR game.

    3. Jack out of the comics!

      Jack out of the comics!

Did it kill the franchise though? I know people complained about it lacking content (I for one, did), but it got good reviews, and it seemed to sell well as it was in tops 10s for a while before Crash jumped in and took the throne. Plus people actually liked it, what they didn't like was that SEGA gave it a low budget and forgot its existence after release. I'm really dubious that it was a disappointment in their eyes, or in the eyes of the general public. Meanwhile, Mario & Sonic, now THAT was a flop.

Compared to ASRT, it was absolutely a disappointment. ASRT is still talked about as a standard for racers to this day - most times when I bring up TSR even to friends that're Sonic fans, they've straight up forgotten it exists by now.

    5. BlueSpeedster

It still has a Discord community tho so it's kinda active but not.

    6. Tracker_TD

I'd argue Sonic Riders also has an active tournament Discord though

and that game's 15 years old nearly

    7. BlueSpeedster

oh yeah true but that's on emulation via Dolphin

  15. I've been here since the mid-2000's. Kinda crazy this place is still going strong. This place has been my internet home for many years. I still remember there was a game list page on the main site. The GameCube port of Sonic Adventure 2 being described as a "souped up" version of the game. I remember the rumor articles about Sonic Riders releasing on 360 and PS3, etc. 2012 was probably my favorite year here. The community was just coming off the success of Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations and we had Transformed coming up. The community was on a high and it was a really enjoyable time to be here
