I was just comparing photos of Other M Samus' powersuit and Zero Suit and the stupid thing is, even the designers new heels were a bad move. When in her Zero suit she has these ridiculous wedge heels, but when she transforms into her Powersuit...they dissapear! seriously, the Powersuit has NO heels, nor does it have room for heels in the space available for Samus' feet. The heels are unnecessary and stupid, there are other ways to "feminise" Samus, a character that didnt really need it anyway, if they wanted to make her more womanly they could have done it in any one of the flashbacks and made it one where she isnt on duty or performing a mission. thats her personality that we know about. When she is on a mission she is straight to the point, serious and stoic. her casual personality? we have no idea, they could have done something there without totally ruining her character.

That's something you'll have to explain in a more relevant thread since he actually did do just that in the second cutscene. Again your theory, is far too open for debate for it to hold water since.

Actually the case of your opposition has actual official words with people in charge of the franchise in addition Shadow never pulling off chaos control without an emerald in SA2, 06 pretty much slapping you in the face with how even Shadow requires a chaos emerald for time travel, a component of true chaos control, Shadow explaining, to to Silver that he can use chaos control WITH the use of the emerald, etc. Now, in the case that you've somehow forgotten about scenes, you could feel free to bring up them up and actually explain your notion that Shadow is actually capable of chaos control without an emerald, but is apparently too dumb to use this alleged magical ability in later games.

If Shadow in the actual lore could do chaos control without an emerald, there'd be an actual cutscene or even an official manual or database confirming he could do such. However, as the reality of the situation decides, they do the exact opposite and make evident that Shadow can't do true chaos control without an emerald.

Funny how one who loves 06 so much could miss such details emphasized in 06. Speaking of which.

Going back to Amy and Elise's respective lowest points in the game where they'd choose Sonic over the fate of the world, while in Elise's case, I can see that being the intent considering the build-up of her and Sonic's relationship, I can't help but wonder if in Amy's case that was actually a severe mis-translation.

And the significance of this is? There's no arguments of Blaze the Cat actually appearing in 06; it's undeniable that she did. Granted it

Well Impa is regardless, she's a sage in both OOT and ALBW

I'm just really itching for more gameplay. The Treehouse was a godsend for that (even if I missed the 3rd days section and Nintendo haven't put it on their youtube )

I'm not sure about the wind waker, does it say that it is exclusive to Zelda? Or is it just a weapon that everyone can choose? On that note, the multiple weapons, do you think that they will be swappable for most characters? Or will each character have a choice of different weapons? We haven't seen Zelda use the fire rod for example.

they will probably wait to see if he makes any money, and if he does they may sweep in with a C&D or possibly sue him for making money off of their property and demand that he redesign the character or cease production full stop.

Jolt_TH got a reaction from Darth InVaders in Chaos Emeralds
Well in terms of sonic's world I think it's perfectly fine and believable that it's all the same world. Sonic 1 was set on south island, Sonic 2 was set on Christmas island (I believe anyway) and sonic 3 was set on Angel Island. In term of classic sonic that's 3 games, 3 islands, we don't know how big said islands are so it's possible that they are islands like Hawaii ect?
When we get to adventure that is just one continent, heck only one city! adventure 2 spans slightly more but could again be one country and unleashed is when things start getting global, so if you apply a bit of thought its easy to see how the sonic games fit geographically together! And CD, well that takes place on a whole new planet (Little Planet, albeit connected with a giant huge chain!)

As for the chaos emeralds well. I think maybe some should be collected as you go through, but maybe have some in a special stage. Although the dynamics of that would be wierd, so I doubt that would work!

As to how they are used, I'm fine with them being used by eggman and such e.g. Because that is via a machine that is harnessing the power not using them durectly. Knuckles has some link to the emeralds and he appears to be able to contol them to an extent (given he is the guardian of the MASTER EMERALD) although main thing you see him do is nullify them "the servers are the seven chaos, chaos is power, power is enriched by the heart, the controller is the one that unifies the chaos..."
Shadow is a chaos creature as I believe he was created using the power of at least one emerald I'm not too sure on this) so it's understandable he could use them, as well as his chaos powers (some of them not requiring an actual chaos emerald) as when you fight him at the end of sonic's story in SA2 he uses chaos spear and chaos control without a chaos emerald as they are all in the eclipse cannon, so it wouldn't surprise me if shadow had some sort of chaos energy reserve. Also because he always seems
to find at least one (or have one on him) wouldnt surprise me if he could sense their presence, making them easier for him to find, due to his link with them.

As far as I am concerned with sonic he just has strong enough will power and a pure heart to be able to use them. He may have been predetermined o be able to use them (as the mural in hidden palace suggests) but I think it has something to do with his experience and the fact he is the hero (he took it upon himself to stop eggman selflessly) shows he ha a pure heart. But hey it's just speculation!

The idea that the levels we've seen are very early levels seems like it would be pretty obvious, but the problem is that I think BRB just did a really bad job of showcasing the game. Could it be because the game may actually turn out to be bad and therefore wouldn't look that great no matter what they showed off? Sure it could. But I remember Frost saying that they were purposefully showing off the more polarizing parts of the game. I get where he was coming from on this, but when the purpose of E3 is to get people hyped for the game, I'd say they did a pretty terrible job. People are going to go in expecting certain aspects from the Sonic series, despite being a spin-off, and we really haven't seen that many :/ I would think Frost would be doing some damage control and maybe have the company show off some of these more promising parts he'd hinted at before E3.

The company also obviously threw in the speed section for some familiarity but of course it's a very basic one from very early in the game with almost no challange to it. So, now people think that all of them will be like that, which is unlikely because I believe Frost has stated numerous times that they would become far more challening in the future. Will they be fun? Well we don't know, but they will have more substance to them. As for the combat, I'll be honest and say I'm not really sure how to comment on it. I don't think it looks like it would play badly but it doesn't look all that interesting to me. Not terrible, just kind of meh.

You are assuming that every single bit of money is going exclusively toward the goals and not the game in other ways. Of course boss rush doesn't cost 250k. The stretch goals are there to motivate people to fund it, not as a way of saying "this is exactly what this costs."

To suggest that Inafune is either incompetent or personally pocketing the money is an incredibly bold claim, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that you actually don't know what you're talking about.

Jolt_TH reacted to Solly in Mighty No.9 - New Inafune title!
I like the people in here claiming to know about game design and budgets. Studies suggest that the average development costs for a multiplatform game as of 2010 was between 18-28 million dollars. High profile games often exceed 40 million, and I personally know some that have passed 60 and even 100 million.

And our reason for thinking 4 million is more than enough to do every additional thing they want is because "it's a simple platformer"? Ha, okay. Obviously Mighty No. 9 isn't in the ballpark of some of the other series out there, but games are expensive to make- and they're getting more expensive. Can we please stop the backseat game design trash?

I actually finally got to playing this recently myself so might as well share my thoughts.

I'ma be lazy and just copy paste my tumblr posts I made during my playthrough since my opinions haven't really changed from finishing it:

Beaten two dungeons so far on Zelda.  Still enjoying it so far, and wow the music is really great in this game.  It’s one of the best uses of 3D on the system too (though I also was impressed by the little visual tricks they do to increase clarity even in 2D… presumably, I’ve kept the 3D on the whole time as I usually do lol).   Interested to see how the rental thing goes though.  I was a little surprised that I was just able to rent every single item available to me in one go as soon as the shop was open.  I mean obviously the game is designed so you’d never get into an impossible position regardless of what items you have, so owning all of them is technically pointless other than saving me a trip back to the shop next time I need one I haven’t used yet.   I like how streamlined everything is though.  Really feels like a very pure Zelda experience, for example I love that you just get a map for both the overworld and dungeons, no need to unlock it or anything.  I’ve never felt lost once which is the main problem I had with old 2D Zeldas.  Having the map on the touch screen at all times helps in this regard too. Also having such an overt and quickly accessible hint system is just great.  The hint movies in OoT 3D and SS are kinda dumb coz you need to go to a specific place, so I like that I can just access them instantly here if I decide to throw in the towel on a puzzle (9 times out of 10 I’ve simply just overlooked a spot where I can go along the wall and feel dumb afterwards because I’ve been wall merging like a slut the whole way through).   Just, yeah, high praise to the Zelda team for really making a game that cuts out all of the little things that have just gotten in the way of the fun in some previous Zeldas.  And yet despite this streamlining it’s one of the most open feeling Zeldas they’ve made, it pretty much never holds your hand on puzzles.  The game flows so nicely from moment to moment and yet still manages to make me feel clever and like I’m doing things at my own pace and in the order I choose - knowing I could easily go try something else first if I wanted to - even in dungeons.   I mean I’m still super early on I’m sure but so far I’m inclined to believe the hype.  Both my first and second play sessions have ended with me reluctantly quitting because I know it’s time to rest my mind and eyes, not because I’m worn out from play.   -   I just wanna say the minigame music is amazing in ALBW.  I mean all the music is amazing but the minigame music in particular.  Also I cannot believe there’s a baseball minigame (that also has awesome music).   I’ve done 5 dungeons now and currently wandering around trying to find my way into another one.  I thought the lack of hand-holding and free-roamingness would put me off but no they really designed this game masterfully.   The only thing I cannot figure out for the life of me is where the hell this guy is by the Tower of Hera that I’m meant to be giving milk to but don’t tell me I wanna try and figure it all out myself lol.  [Retrospective Addition: I did find him in the end.]   -   So I finished A Link Between Worlds!  Thoroughly enjoyed, my first 2D Zelda beaten without needing a guide too (though I did need a bit of help from the Hint Ghosts, especially on the Dark Palace/Temple - not that they helped since my confusion was due to not realising the beams of the light on the top floor were the same ones going down through all the floors).   Music was great, and all the dungeons were great fun, even if a handful of smaller single room puzzles felt a bit too obvious at times.  I also only died once the entire game so I basically had no worries about my inventory being emptied, as such the rental system sort of fell flat but I guess that’s more of an issue for kids/casual players and maybe I could’ve handled Hero Mode better than I thought I would.  Exploration was always really great too, there was never a point where I was like “eh I’ll explore that thing I noticed later, I just wanna go to the dungeon”, it was all equally as fun as each other and very rewarding.   Also now that I’ve learned the layout of the game world I’m a little tempted to try and play A Link to the Past again.  Maybe.   My only disappointment was a severe lack of story for the last 60% of the game.  As soon as Lorule opens up and lets you go anywhere, it’s pretty much 100% gameplay until the end cut-scene.  I’m kind of not surprised I didn’t get any spoilers before playing this through no effort of my own because there’s not much to spoil unless someone really wanted to be a dick and make a gifset of the end cut-scene lol.  Some people might like less story but… yeah I personally like a good story in Zelda games.  What little was there was excellent though, I do wonder if too much story really would have infringed on the free roaming gameplay.   Going into spoiler territory just for this last paragraph regarding the above:

    TL;DR:

Impressed me even though I've disliked 2D Zelda in the past. Managed to be wide open yet never confusing. New gimmicks were awesome. Amazing soundtrack. However, didn't like how the story just stopped for the main bulk of the game when all the dungeons opened up to be done in any order, and how limited NPC interaction was once you were in Lorule. If you haven't played this gem of level design and gameflow because you normally dislike 2D Zelda, I'd say go right ahead and believe the hype.

A little late for the Majora's Mask shilling (which im more then willing to join) but one thing I REALLY loved about the game that didnt occur to me until today is that Link isnt the center of the universe.

He's not a hero with a predestined fate decreed by the gods or whatever, he's just a good guy who's willing to help those in need. He probably won't get any recognition whatsoever for his feats (probably because he hides his identity behind all the masks most of the time) other then probably being a passing memory of the Clock townsfolk as "that kid that helped me out that one time", and that's fine for him, since after his job is done he goes on his merry way to get back to his own personal journey. It's quite refreshing

I agree that the game should have been vastly different of it was going to be a reboot, but why does it have to be only Sonic and Eggman? The games have a whole wide array of characters to choose from, heck make shadow some sort of lone wolf kinda vigilante or something, make Omega a baker. They could have done anything, why does it have to be just Sonic and Eggman? That's not a reboot but a remake of Sonic 1, seems a bit of a waste of resources.

Every time someone has tried to give sonic realistic fur it hasn't worked, that's why no one does it, it just doesn't look right, besides your then playing with SEGA anatomy, are Sonics spines his spines? Are they made of clumps of spines? Are they covered in spines?
Realistic Eggman didn't go down very well at all either :/

Again that is literally a remake of sonic 1, this was the first game on a really powerful system at the time, they could have done something much grander than that, heck ANYTHING where Sonic actually did something to the plot and Eggman was actually the villain would have been good, not Shadow the Hedgehog 2

That is not how it works. And getting all defensive and trying to rationalise it away when someone calls you out on your prejudice does you no favours.

As SuperLink said, passive misogyny is still harmful, because it perpetuates a culture of ambient misogyny. We absolutely should call people on it, when they say stupid, ignorant, sexist things, whether it was their intention to be sexist or not.

Actually, you do recover the Master Emerald in the Super Sonic ending. It's also the only ending that shows the rogue Eggrobo reactivating, which teases Knuckles' story.
The problem is, what is the actual narrative purpose of Hyper Sonic? Super Sonic is easy enough to explain; most games that use Super Sonic in their climax have the characters finding and juggling the Chaos Emeralds throughout the game, such that they're never all in one place. But when things are at their darkest, they all come together, and a miracle happens: Super Sonic. Where would Hyper Sonic fit into this, in both a functional and narratively meaningful way?

Hyper Sonic is ultimately just a DBZ powerup, it doesn't actually add anything to the story, it just lets the characters punch harder so they can punch stronger bad guys.
