Calling it now: Twilight Princess HD is definitely happening and Zelda U is moving to the next Nintendo console. TPHD is meant to be an apology to Wii U owners that bought a console waiting on the new Zelda.

I still find it pretty shitty. I mean let's be honest here, Wii U owners either way got screwed hard. A LOT of IPs from Nintendo, which is the only reason you buy their consoles these days, had no games on the Wii U, and even then, some who had were not what people were expecting, say, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, or Animal Crossing Amiibo Party.
Not only that but a lot of interesting exclusives got delayed or outright cancelled, and I'm sure we'll see more games being dropped on the Wii U in favor of the NX.

Never going to happen, Zelda U is so heavily geared for the Wii-u at this point making it cross-gen would create tons of issues. It's simply more ambitious so it's taking more time.
TPHD is happening to help fill in gaps, and help preserve it's legacy by fixing it's artstlye. also possibly as one of a few Gamecube HD ports to fill in the lineup next year.
Every console has had a unique Zelda, I doubt they plan to change it now. Also TPHD is also the perfect way to kick off Zelda's 30th anniversary next year
Also the NX is more likely for 2017, or if it is '16 it's a 3DS successor not a wii-u successor

"Never going to happen"
I'm going to hold you to that, Mando.

Personally, I would love seeing Twilight Princess HD. It was my first, and in many ways, still my favorite Zelda game.
I really hope that they increase the damage output of ALL the enemies, especially the final boss.
Skyward Sword had the right idea by having nearly every enemy do at least one heart of damage per hit.

tphd would be a pretty piss-poor apology. even setting aside my relative dislike of the game, a prettied up port of a last-gen game is cold comfort
anyway i don't know about this, we still know nothing about nx besides "it exists". i think it's too early to start making guesses like this.

I bet on Mando out of my persona wish for Zelda U... Well, to STAY on the Wii U.

We don't know anything about the next console's capabilities.
But what we do know is that Nintendo's planning on jumping ship from the Wii U and that 2016 is it's last year. Why would they make the next big Zelda game for the one console they're trying to move on from, instead of making it a launch title for the next big console and assuring good sales?
It all lines up too well, and I'm willing to bet at this point that they're going pull what Twilight Princess did and at most make it a cross-platform release. If not that, then Zelda U will become Zelda NX and that is that.
And that's my bet. If I win, I will post Epona USA at least 5 times in a row, within intervals.
