How to fix the Chaotix tether mechanic:
Only initiate the tether when holding the "hold" button. This way you can still fly through the air like clackers or do the wind up / release, but upon letting go you can play the game like a normal Sonic game.
If your partner screen is too far away to initiate the tether, pressing the button will call them to you (but without punishing you with -10 rings).
If Chaotix played like this it would be immediately 100x better to play.
