I purchased the PC version of Sonic 3D Blast (got it for £2 on AmazonUK).
It's the first time I've played the PC version (only played the Saturn version via crappy emulation). Plays pretty well. It actually works fine on Window 10. The soundtrack (same as the Saturn version) has some really nice pieces, although I prefer the Genesis soundtrack overall. The better graphics also have some nice weather effects added to them; like the rain in Rusty Ruin.
The special stages which are different to both the Genesis & Saturn version are kinda meh. I mean they're easy enough with fuck-loads of rings to collect (the seventh special stage is the only particularly tricky one) and they are probably more interesting than the Genesis ones; but the bomb placement is pretty unfair. A lot of the time you'll run straight into a bomb without enough reaction time to avoid it, and the special stages are too generic to remember the bomb placements particularly well. A lot of the time it's more beneficial just to smash into the bombs to collect the rings around them and the controls are a little slippery, but it's not a big deal as there are plenty of rings to collect to make up for hitting several bombs.
I'd like to be able to play the Saturn version one day.
