How odd. Sonic twitter has removed their tweet.

  2. The Super Sonic boss fight in Sonic & Knuckles is best super Sonic final boss IMO.

Best boss music of the classics too:

I like Advance 2's and Rush's the most, personally.

    4. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

Eh, it's alright and it's certainly cinematic, but it's a touch too repetitive and you don't feel much of Super Sonic's power. You just redirect missiles. It's a bit tame. SA1 still holds the top spot. It's still just Super Headbutting as is basically every other fight, but the atmosphere was great. The entire game was leading up to that fight.

I hope that we get a Super fight in the future that has more than that just headbutting the boss. The Darkspine and Excalibur fights feel a bit more meaningful in representing power. Heck, even the crappy Zavok fight in Forces has regular Sonic deliver a flurry of punches. Super Sonic should do more than just fly at hit problems until they die.

Perfect Chaos still holds up for me since unlike other Super fights, the gameplay is nearly identical to the main story and the entire method of damaging the boss involves maintaining your speed for a period of time. I wish more Sonic bosses expanded on that idea.

    6. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

Only issue I have with SA1's fight is that if you get hit by the whirlpool projectile-things (especially in the second phase) it's very hard to regain enough momentum to reach Perfect Chaos brain, often resulting in Sonic dying, then running out of rings and having to restart the final boss from the beginning. At least with the S&K fight you can get hit, drop back and replenish your ring total if you need to and then take down Eggman. Also the story & zone sequence leading up to Doomsday zone being so good adds to the exciting atmosphere of the boss fight.

I mean, yeah I like SA1's final boss, it's definitely one of the better Super Sonic fights and it's not particularly difficult with a bit of practice.

I also like SA2's final boss which is just as good as SA1's if not slightly better (a bit more forgiving perhaps) .

It's a cool boss fight but i see where everyone is coming from with sa1's boss fight. It had build up to the big showdown.

Sonic and knuckles was all like "HEY! GOOD JOB GETTING ALL THE EMERALDS! HERE'S A SECRET STAGE!" just throws you right into the chase lol.

  3. Replayed Odyssey over the last few days. Just beat Long Journey's End at the first attempt. First time I ever played Odyssey it took me countless attempts to beat this stage. Now I find it almost too easy to beat.

      LukA8

I unlocked and beat it yesterday as well. I'd say it's a lot more forgiving than the Champion's Road from 3D World

      Adamabba

its definitely the easiest final challenge level in a Mario game so far

  4. You can now hack your Mega-Drive/Genesis mini and add other games:

Dammit. I wanted this before Christmas so that I could put more games on the system that I bought for my brother.

That day in 2013 where I was the first one to get in issue 1 of the Sonic/Mega Man crossover. Since previews were so sporadic in the Archie days, we only had the covers and a few plot details to go by, so it was a treat that my rough DSi camera shots were the first peeks the community got at the meat of the book.

Also loved doing the Holiday Gaming Challenge back in 2013. Having more of an excuse to 100% SMRPG over the course of a month besides boredom was a lot of fun.

      @Brawler Bear CC14

I actually remember when your name was massive back during the BumbleKing era for giving us those preview shots.

      @Ryannumber1Santa

Funny to think about how the start of THAT business was this decade, too. (Back in 2010 when I revealed Mogul was Silver's master in the future after I got the issue with said reveal and saw no discussion of it. I remember a lot of people on Bumbleking thinking I was lying right before I provided shots. I was amused. 😂)

    5. Ferno

      Ferno

I mean, I'm going back to the beginning of the decade here basically, but 2011 when the bloated Generations demo file leaked like an exploding whale and the site was in chaos for the next few days.

Also 2012 & 2013 were also years on here I remember being pretty nice.  Yeah they were the Transformed and Lost World years but the place was still so active, plus it was the older IPBoard version of SSMB with friends lists and stuff etc. I also helped out at the last minute with one of the SSMB music adventure covers (even though I'd only just started out with digital art at the time and could've done better but hey)

    2. Thigolf

      Thigolf

Basically they're taking the business that does arcade/pachinko stuff and put it into the home market business, so we'll probably see a bit more of a focus on home console games.

    3. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

      No idea.

I read an article which seems to think it's not bad. At least in terms of making games nothing will change.

Why are Sonic and Tails standing on their toes?

    2. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

The Sonic sprite looks like it's from his bounce animation from when hitting a spring. So I'd get this is the same for Tails.

    3. PaulyBFromDa303

      PaulyBFromDa303

I honestly expected Hark The Herald Angels to be playing in the background, in the same style as the Peanuts. The version where there's no lyrics just "Ooooo"

  12. There's no better satisfaction in overcoming the disappointment of dropping from 2nd to 5th in a CTR online race and then completely dominating and winning the next race, which I just did.

  13. Watched the first episode of Sonic X season 2, which was better than the entire first season 😂

  14. Downloaded all three Jak & Daxter games & Jak X. They're 55% off on PSN. I've only ever played (and beaten) the first game.

  15. Just watched Episode 25 "A Dastardly Deed" from season 1 of Sonic X. Knuckles how could you let Eggman trick you...AGAIN?!

    1. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

      ...and that's season 1 finished.

  16. Just watched Rise of Skywalker

  17. The fanbase wants Sonic Mania 2, but it deserves Sonic 4 Episode 3 😜

The fanbase wants Sonic Adventure 3, but it deserves Sonic Generations 2 🤔

    1. JezMM

      JezMM

The irony is as someone who liked Sonic 4 and loved Generations, I think if you honestly asked me to choose between Sonic Mania 2 and Sonic Adventure 3 made by current competency Sonic Team, Sonic 4 Episode 3 and Sonic Generations 2 might be a safer bet.

Well, except even that seems impossible considering 66% of Sonic Forces basically was Sonic Generations 2 in gameplay terms and they did it bad. Ughghgh.

    2. TheOcelot

      TheOcelot

I'd like to see Sonic Team (not Dimps) try and make a 2d game (call it Sonic 4 Episode 3 or whatever) with really good gameplay which I personally felt was lacking in Gens & Forces classic Sonic and Sonic 4 Ep1.

I think Gens 2 is likely because the 30th anniversary is vast approaching. I just find 2011 Gens very boring and I never get the urge to replay it. If we are getting Gens 2 then I want gameplay style(s) which I can have fun with.

    3. McGroose

      McGroose

If you put together every single person in the fanbase, I think our collective karma would mean we would all deserve a sequel to Sonic 06

    4. Tarnish

      Tarnish

But we'll probably actually get Sonic Forces 2.

    5. Blue Blood

      Blue Blood

      Being a Sonic fan hurts...

    6. Detective Kaito

      Detective Kaito

I don't know why anyone would want Sonic Generations 2 after the past decade was trying so hard to replicate its success, a Gen 2 would be shit without the proper team working on it. That's exactly why Forces turned out the way it did.

There is no need for a Sonic Generations 2, just make a new game with entirely new stages.

    7. Blue Wisp

      Blue Wisp

Asking for Sonic 4 Episode 3 in 2019?

Hell yeah we need that cliffhanger solved, Little Planet is still DeathEggified.

  18. Do you prefer the final music for competition mode in Sonic 3 (11:59) or the beta music (13:41)?

    1. Penny

      Penny

the final one is more fitting as a menu theme, but the beta track is better song to just listen too

    2. Tarnish

      Tarnish

Definitely the final one. That bass is just to die for by itself.

  21. Do you find games - regardless of how good they actually are - which include re-imagined stages from previous titles (like Gens & Mania), become less appealling/less enjoyable several years later because the content is too familiar due to being re-imagined-heavily influenced from previous games?

    1. Tarnish

      Tarnish

They certainly don't get points for originality, unless they take a spin on the source material way beyond you ever thought was possible.

Like Green Hill in Forces had the chance to take a spin on the stage we never saw before, but ultimately that didn't happen, it was just visual, nothing that actually translated to gameplay.

    2. Sean

      Sean

      Not really.

      Sapphirine Wind

Ah, it seems that April Fools festivities have started early.

  23. Just played a few races CTR Nitro Fueled. Been a few months since I last played it, so I need to shape up or I'll get my ass wipped on game night!

I've tried Koala Carnival & Gingerbread Joyride having never played these tracks before. I like how you can retain the white boost for a whole lap in Koala Carnival. Simple track layout, but fun. Gingerbread Joyride not so much.

  24. The Simpsons is 30 years old today....

    Which are your favourite episodes?

    1. Tara

      Tara

A lot of people don't seem to like Lisa episodes that much, but they're usually my favorites?  Granted, I think her character has probably suffered the most as a result of the series' declining quality over the years, but when she was (and is) good, she's still really good.

That being said, my overall favorite episode is probably Lisa's Substitute.  But I also quite like One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish and Stark Raving Dad.  Really, there's so many classic Simpsons episodes I like it would be easier to list the ones I don't like.

    2. The Tenth Doctor

      The Tenth Doctor

Have a few. Stark Raving Dad (don't care about the MJ stuff), Cape Fear, Brother From The Same Planet and You Only Move Twice stick out to me.

    3. Solister

      Solister

I don't think I'm such fan to remember episode name or its plot, I usually like it for the concepts and for giving me some good laughs.

That said, I think 2 of the most remarkable episodes were "Blame it on Lisa" and "You Don't Have to Live Like a Referee" (Looked the names on web), were on both cases the Simpsons comes to my homeland, Brazil, even if they pass a bad overview of here.

Other episodes I remember were    "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" and "Lisa the Vegetarian", mostly because were so common on TV that I've started to get annoyed with them.

Lastly, I think the thing I've most liked over these 30 years were "The Simpsons Hit & Run", that will be a game I'll take with me forever. Aside this, I think I'll be back on watching a few episodes on my computer.

Almost everything from season 6 is amazing, especially WSMB part 1.

    6. Big Panda

      Big Panda

@Solister ironic considering “New York vs Homer Simpson” was banned for a number of years.

    7. Solister

      Solister

Didn't knew that, though when I've viewed it was something like 2012-2015, so way later after the 9/11 attacks. But yeah, I remember it was a pretty common, I think I caught it more than 6 times on TV.
