If you could have your memory completely wiped of any Sonic game, so that you could play it again as if for the first time, which Sonic game would it be?
-
Wonder if Shadow will be a fully playable character in all modern (Sonic) stages in the next 3D Sonic game. I mean, they tested the waters with him being playable in some stages in Forces, and Shadow's reception was positive, I guess. So I'm thinking Shadow will be playable again in the next game.
-
All I'm really interested in when it comes to multiple playable characters is that they follow the S3K model - everyone plays like Sonic, with slightly varying stats and moves. Shadow is a good place to start because he's already so similar to Sonic and, unlike Knuckles and Tails, doesn't have and signature abilities that would just break the game.

I have no reason to get my hopes up.

Honestly I'm fine with Chaos powers as long as they provide interesting platforming experiences. The idea of a Chaos Control that freezes time can lend itself to that, or one that lets you warp across a space kinda like a teleport special move from Smash Bros.
Not sure about Chaos Blast... hard to think of any way to make that one useful unless they're gonna arbitrarily start using enemy hordes again which just aren't fun. And if they exist simply to use Chaos Blast on, doing so has no meaning. But Blast isn't really necessary anyway, it isn't a signature move of his like Control is.

I'm sure they'll do it in a way that nobody asked for.

I find they suit me for different moods. I play Sonic 2 the most on my phone as it's a bit more consistently fast-paced than the rest of them and it's sometimes really nice to have a quick rush, I dip into Sonic CD on rarer occasions for when I want to muck around in the levels and see things, and I start up Sonic 1 when I want to practice the mechanics and work on my skills.
Sonic 1 being the platformer, Sonic 2 being the speedster, and Sonic CD being the explorer, to be precise.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles I play when I want the best experience possible, when I can have a little bit of everything, but not too much of everything. Best of all worlds, but not too extreme in any of them. I'm still bummed out that it's not mobile, and still extremely peeved that people would refuse to join in the Sonic 3 Remastered campaign just because it was going to be for mobile only, at least at first.

Sonic 4 >>>>>> everything

Idk in terms of speediness I think Sonic 1 gets rather shit later on.
I like Sonic 2 for the fact that it doesn't give you a 'bad' ending for not getting all the Chaos Emeralds - they're completely optional, which helps considering I typically have a tough time with its special stages. I honestly find S2 easier to just pick up and play than S3K, even though S3K's stages are really easy.

Sonic 3&K being the "adventurer"

I wish Sonic Colours would be ported to the PSN. Maybe next year? Wishful thinking perhaps.

Which Sonic game has the worst story?

When's the last time you played Forces?

Which Sonic games have you no played in a long time?

You get a million points if you can guess which Sonic game I am playing right now. No it's not Sonic CD.

Sonic 2 is 25 years old. What do you think of Sonic 2 after all this time?

I'll still think that it is a good game. Really like Chemical Plant, Casino Night, Mystic Cave but found Sky Chase really boring and there are parts that need a bit more time to polish such as Metropolis (really like the stage but the enemy placement needs a tweak), Death Egg and the Special Stages however has better flow of speed compared to Sonic 1. The spin dash is a great move for Sonic and makes it easier to go up curves. Music's great.
Not my favourite Sonic game but would be in my Top 5, my favorite of the Genesis games.

There's just too much about the game I dislike. Emerald Hill's level design has really awkward slopes and terrain and Coconuts is an annoying motherfucker, easily the worst Badnik in the game (Even more so to me than the Metropolis ones), Casino Night is too blocky, aquatic ruin and Hill Top look really pretty, but are boring and feel uninspired, Mystic Cave is OK and I always loved Oil Ocean. Metropolis just sucks and Sky Chase is a chore. Wing Fortress is actually a really fun level in the game. The Death Egg's bosses are very creatively designed, but the lack of an actual level always underwhelmed me.
The special stages are my least favorite in the series, probably the worst in my opinion 2nd only to 3D Blast on the Genesis.
It's ironic that my favorite level in the game is that was scrapped and redesigned for the mobile port. -
-
Least favourite here too. It's so bad for unpredictable hazards from very early on in the game. Sonic CD is TECHNICALLY worse for "punishing the player for going fast without knowing the level" but for some reason I find the non-damaging/lethal hazards of that game far less annoying than the Grounders and Slicers of Sonic 2.
There are even some spots, like the Shellcrackers in corridors with no room to jump over them, or the cluster of Whisps above the springboard near the end of of Act 1(?) in Aquatic Ruin that to this day I don't understand how it's possible to not take damage from them.
I still play it FAIRLY often on mobile if I'm burned out on my other choices there - 1 and CD, but I'd play S3&K so much more if I could.
-
It's one of the best Sonic games ever made.

Despite cheap enemy placement and a high difficulty spike 2/3rds in (starting with Oil Ocean), it's still easily among the best Sonic games. Really amazing how it tightens up and streamlines a lot of the weaker elements from the first game (level design especially) to positive effect; and adds stuff like multiplayer and Super Sonic. And the music is among the series' best.
The level design also has a stronger playground mentality to it in regards to its physics that you don't really see in the other classic games. There's few and far places in the old games where you can do something like this Bouncing Challenge:

Crash Bandicoot 4 > Sonic's 25th anniversary game?

Wrath of Cortex is more of a rehash of Crash 3. It's design is similar to Crash 3 in a lot of ways.

@Ferno Crash hasn't seen a new game since the late 2000s, so I wouldn't be surprised if a new Crash game (especially one that follows the style of the ND games) gets much more attention that whatever Sonic has for his 25th anniversary.
(It also helps that this year is the 20th anniversary of the original Crash Bandicoot, so that's another factor in favor of a new Crash game.)

Forte-Metallix You win! haha.
Wrath of Cortex re-uses a lot of ideas from Crash 3 and thus feels like they played it safe by copy that game. The abilities which Crash unlocks in Crash make a return in Wrath of Cortex. and the stage do have a lot of similarities. I think the graphics in Wrath are pretty nice.
Wrath is good game in parts.
*Crash unlocks in Crash 3
*the stages do

It'll probably be something more than just a mere sequel. Crash has been out of the picture long enough for a full-blown reboot to not be shocking to anyone. It's not like the story was ever integral to the experience. I would go with a reboot if only because the continuity has become really messed up. As long as the characters we love are there, that's all that really matters.

Why does everyone love Knuckles The Echidna?

Is it fair to say that the game 'Shadow The Hedgehog' had the same problems as Sonic Heroes? Which game is better in your opinion?
-
So, now that Mania Plus has come and gone...
-
Forces Minus
It's basically Sonic Forces, except now all of the cutscenes are just white text on a black background and additional boost pads have been added to balance out the those pesky areas of boring gameplay. Super Sonic is paid DLC again.

Dream scenario: A good 3D Sonic game. Taking all the previous feedback and making a good Modern game. Also Sonic Mania 2 under a different name with original zones, good if they kept the previous graphics and tweaked them (ala Sonic 1 -> 2/CD) but even better if there was an art evolution.
Likely scenario: Sonic Forces 2 in everything but name, just like Sonic Forces was Sonic Generations 2. An okay game but worse than the previous games. A Sonic Mania sequel done by different people but more zone recycling and not getting what made the original great.
Oh and don't forget Mario & Sonic 2020.
-
When it comes to mainline games, I have absolutely no idea. What I want ST to do is the game that they want to do instead of making a checklist of surface-level things people want, like Forces was.
Like, after Unleashed SEGA/Sonic Team became outright scared of having their own ambition and their own creativity and instead just make the games by the checklist on what the community wants. Even Mania, while it still has a lot of returning levels, still felt like devs themselves wanted to make this game, unlike Forces, which was just another poor attempt at appeasing everyone.
So yeah, I don't know what to expect, but I want Sonic Team to just go nuts and make what they themselves want.
In terms of everything else - TSR is a thing this year, the movie is a thing next year, and maaaaybe another 2D title in 2 years or so.
