  1. Welp, I got my exams done, finished my 1,900 word essay on Big the Cat, and I finally found enough change to be able to buy Infinite’s theme on iTunes! I finally get to hear it!

    Today is a good day.

      That's lovely to hear!

@McGroose I’m in (or was in, now that the semester’s over) an introductory disability studies course. One of the assignments was that we had to find a representation of disability in the media, and spend 10-15 minutes discussing it with the class. I chose Big the Cat, and I put way, way too much effort into my presentation.

The final project in this class was to take the thing you presented, and compare it to two other students’ presented representations of disability. Then, you had to discuss a common representation of disability in the media.

I wrote that paper really quickly for what it is, so it’s not as good as my presentation. I just hope I still get a good grade on it.

You know what’s weird, though? I put a recording of my presentation on YouTube, so that classmates who wanted to use Big in their reports could get the information easier. That video currently has about 230 views right now. I have absolutely no idea why. I don’t know who’s watching it, why they’re watching it or how they found it. Weird.

    4. McGroose

It has views because it's Sonic.

And I'd like a link as well.

      Sure thing!

I apologize for the vertical recording.

    6. McGroose

Vertical recording is indeed a mortal sin, but you are forgiven just this once.

I'll have to watch this later. :)

  2. Sonic Forces - OST Thread

@NikoS I checked on the US site, and it says that mp3 downloads are DRM free. That should mean that you’d be able to import it to iTunes no problem.
  3. So, I've got an exam tomorrow that I desperately need to study for, followed by an exam Thursday that I also desperately need to study for. Then I have a final paper due. I thought the paper was due Sunday, so my plan was to do it after the exams, but it turns out its actually due Thursday.

So, now I've got to study AC circuits, study Static external reactions, and write a 1,500 to 2,000 word essay on Big the Cat by Thursday. It's certainly doable, but its going to be a bit tighter than I'd hoped. Wish me luck!

Virtual hug from a college student.

    2. Mightyray

      Good luck! Pass those tests!

    3. Kiah

Wow that’s a lot! Hope everything goes well!

  4. So, is there some sort of unmarked spoiler policy for Status Updates? Cause, I like reading these, but I don’t like knowing what happens in Dragon Ball Super months before the dub gets there.

Should I just steer clear of this section of the website?

    1. ThePrinceOfSaiyans

Maybe start watching it in Japanese, boyo.

    2. Crow the BOOLET

      Crow the BOOLET

We usually do have a spoiler policy however it seems not everyone abides to it outside of Sonic for a couple of months, if not weeks. I guess hype does that to you.

    3. Santa Kellan

      Santa Kellan

      @ThePrinceOfSaiyans No, thank you.

@Crow the BOOLET Oh, ok. Thanks for the info.

    4. Kiah

We do have a spoiler policy but it’s hard to implement when said spoilers are unknown among other reasons. In this instance I know next to nothing regarding Dragon Ball.

The only thing I can recommend if seeing unmarked spoilers is to report them and we can edit them. I understand it too late for those that have been exposed to the spoilers but at the very least can prevent others from being exposed to it as well as recognizing spoilers if they show up untagged again.

  5. So, Alan Denton did a Q&A on Twitter: I even managed to get a question in!
  6. I made a Holiday Profile Pic! As it turns out, I have exactly enough artistic talent to recognize that the hat I drew looks weird, while still not having the ability to fix it. Neat.

    Happy Holidays everyone!

  7. It’s weird how the story in Forces is both my favorite and least favorite thing about that game.

    1. RedFox99

      Why is that?

    2. Partridge in a Dee Tree

      Partridge in a Dee Tree

It’s very flawed and wasted but is a vast improvement over the past stories we’ve gotten.

I hope they continue the direction Forces had story wise and fix the problems it had.

But yeah, we need Flynn pronto.

    3. RedFox99

It felt pretty underwhelming, but it is hard to explain concerning the use of the other Sonic characters. Sure for the most part they were useless and kind of flat, but they did have more prominence in recent games.

I logged in from the college computer just to like this comment

  8. You know Santa Claus? Is “Santa” his first name, or his title?

I want to know if “Santa Kellan” makes sense as a holiday username.

    1. Ernest the Snowpanda

      Ernest the Snowpanda

It really doesn't matter. Santa Kallen, Kallen Claus, whatever.

(I'd go for the former since Kallen and Clause start with the same sound. That's just me tho)

  9. I wish I hadn’t found out about that sing-along so late. I’ve been doing musical performances my whole life, I would’ve loved to have been a part of it. Maybe next time.

I look forward to hearing the final result tomorrow!

  10. My new prized possession came in the mail!

    1. NikoS

      oohhh, that's cool

i will be getting the "Time to Fly" bomber jacket soon, my wardrobe needs more Tails stuff

    2. Kiah

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again but we need a Tails reaction!

  11. Just to add to this, Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation just put out his review of Sonic Forces. He complained that it’s too easy to die as Modern Sonic. I think that Sonic Team might end up making the next game even easier at this rate. Edit: Also VideoGameDunkey complained about dying too much. He even showed clips of him repeatedly dying in a section that will literally play itself if you just hold down the boost button. I think the lesson Sonic Team might take from all this is to make it impossible to die. That would be the wrong lesson to take, but I could see Sonic Team taking it.
  12. So, here's what I did the other day: I saw I Tails T-Shirt online. It was officially licensed, and I thought the design was super cool. I strongly considered ordering it, but I decided against it when I realized that his eyes were black.

Like, seriously. How did things get this divided? I don't think I would have done that before, so why is that suddenly such a big deal for me? My best guess is that Sega finally managed to cement Modern and Classic Tails as different characters in my mind. So, to me, being a fan of one no longer makes you a fan of both.

Or maybe I've just turned super petty, and I haven't realized it. Either way, I found a nice Modern Tails shirt, and bought that instead. I'm really looking forward to receiving it in approximately 5 business days.

    1. Kiah

I definitely prefer the Modern versions of the characters but I won’t hesitate to buy Classic Sonic merchandise if it’s appealing to me.

SEGA’s dividing shenanigans aside, Sonic is still Sonic and I can enjoy both major versions of him, Tails or anyone else in the series. Especially Tails since he’s cute either way 😉

  13. It kinda makes sense to me that they’d go for that design philosophy. A whole lot of people like to criticize Sonic games every time they’re expected to go slow, or they get hit by an enemy, or they die. Ever see the Game Grumps play a Sonic game? They complain, like, every time they’re not going fast. And, apparently, they’re actually enjoying Forces right now. So, while designing levels that require no effort to complete may be super pandering and kinda boring for us, it may also be a valid way to get the casuals interested. Or maybe not, I’m just guessing here.
  14. Character deterioration

Was that his plan? I thought his plan was... (spoilers)
  15. So, I’m taking a disability studies course at my college. We had an assignment: find an example of disability in the media, and discuss the way it is portrayed with the class for 10-15 minutes. Most people just did:

    Slide 1: Title

    Slide 2: 2-3 minute clip

Slide 3: 3 Questions for the class.

The professor even said that you’ll pretty much get full credit just for being able to talk in front of the class at all.

I, however, just kept finding more and more relevant information about this character, and I didn’t want to cut anything out if it was interesting and relevant, so I ended up making it to slide 41 before I ran out of time (it was a natural stopping point). My professor said that there was enough information in my presentation to stretch into a 30 page PhD dissertation, and that I should consider an independent study if I’m really that passionate about the subject. Another student joked that they wanted to do their final paper just on my character alone. All in all, I feel really good about how it went.

And my presentation was about Big the Cat.

I would like to be happy for you and your presentation going well, but um

      Big isn't disabled

You sure? Like, I played 4 voice clips for the class and it was enough to convince all of them. Then we agreed that the voice was a bit of a stereotype, and was at least mildly offensive.
