  1. From the looks of the trailer, it looks like it is all in-game vinyls. No external sources. By this I mean people will not be able to import their own custom vinyls. I think it's just a pre-set bunch of vinyls that you unlock and get to apply. Modders will probably find a way to plug in their own custom ones, but that will be a very round-about method that isn't part of the game infrstructure that the common audience will ever utilize, so I don't think it's worth worrying about
  2. Well... then this confirms that Green Hill zone isn't in this game, since that's before sonic 3 right? And how come Death Egg and Sky Sanctuary are the only 2 options? Just cause they used them in previous games? As for the lava stage. Yeah, fair observation in the fact that they have the mountain in the background of multiple stages, but again: How does that confirm a lava stage? It might just be there to keep consistency and make players feel like they are in different locations of a single world rather than completely different places. It's a thing in the background. You guys are counting "details" that exist in the background/doodads as confirmations of different zones? I'm just lost how that CONFIRMS anything.
  3. So reference to a place = confirmation of in-game zone? I feel like it would be kind of unnecessary to reference other zones within zones. That's like if Sonic Generations Rooftop Run having signs about Crisis City. What's the point of bleeding one zone into the others? Personally, I feel as though these signs are just for reference to make the world feel more like a world rather than a set of levels. And as for the Famitsu scan, (if im thinking of the right picture), it's just Sonic on a beach for a "cutscene" of dialogue. Does "on a beach" = "Seaside Hill confirmed"? Is there anything specific on that beach that indicates its Seaside Hill and not a different beach level? I can understand speculation if they might be "hinting" something, but i think its a bit dramatic to just say "oh Green Hill Zone is confirmed because theres a sign with the name on it in a different stage and Seaside Hill is confirmed because i saw a picture of a random beach". That's almost like looking at the new ice-themed level they brought and saying "wow look there's a patch of snow right there, I guess IceCap from Sonic 3 is confirmed" Just kind of a leap and i was curious if there was solid evidence or was it speculation. Heres to hoping they are just references and not official ❤️
  4. Ummm... where were those last 2 stages confirmed? I just looked around and see no sources that those 2 zones will be in this game...
  5. But... they aren't delaying the game... If the projected release window is "This Winter" on a video that came out in 2018, then they have until March 19th 2019 to release without the need of a delay. Doesn't sound like a Delay in my opinion, just a misunderstanding of the community.
  6. Huh, I disagree, personally. I really like the old design of Amy. Current Amy is just... boring with nothing unique/special to her look. At least back then she had a cute outfit that made her stand out. It gives her personality. That's my swing on it at least.
  7. I noticed that the original post has been edited to now omit the information about the new series... I totally don't think we were supposed to know about it lol ORIGINAL POST SCREENCAP:
  8. Thanks man! Really glad to hear it! I will consider a potential mobile port of it post-initial-release if possible, but due to the way the game controls (mouse location on screen affects the direction and impact of certain abilities) it might be difficult to implement for a mobile port. But post-release it might be worth it Currently, plans are to have the first Public Beta Test around the Winter Season so be sure to be following the Facebook/Twitter pages (description of the video) to stay on track for when the game is playable. Thanks again for your input and excitement. It truly means a lot!
  9. GMStudio (Though none of the drag/drop crap, all coded and done by me)

Hi there! I am a Indie Programmer/Pixel Artist. As a long-time fan of the Classic Sonic series (S3&K childhood fave, but the others are dope too), I have always been inspired for one day wanting to make an awesome 2D platformer. I have been working on my latest game; Dimension17 for the last half year and just this weekend (August 26-29 2018) my project was showcased at a gaming convention (RetroFX) and was met with a lot of great feedback! The game is a 2D exploration-based platformer that allows the player to explore the multi-dimensional world of "Virtuality" with a plethora of unique movesets to help you get around. At its core, it's fundamentals of design are heavily inspired by Sonic: -Anyone can play through and beat it through a slow and casual playthrough -But as you learn how to maneuver the world around you, your different movesets will allow you to speed-run through the world and have a thrill of skill and speed to conquer the game in unique and fun ways. The game controls via keyboard + mouse (unique controls for a platformer I know, but that's half the point of this project ), so it will be a PC exclusive (possibly Mac too). Release: TBD Hope you stick around and see it develop Social Media links for following the project can be found in the Description of the video! Thanks for reading/watching, and have a Wonderful day! Love, -Gemster312
  11. Not sure where to post this, but Sonic Discovery (original game title) logo was revealed today. Origin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmWjL2rUNlg&feature=push-u-sub&attr_tag=G1r9dZCAFjYbQ0Ri-6
  12. I just got my copy and there was no poster. Was the poster you could purchase separately?
  13. Steam has updated as of like 20 minutes ago. Oddly, you can't find Sonic Mania - Encore DLC from the in-game "DLC" button, nor from the Sonic Mania store page. You have to search in the Steam search bar for Sonic Mania and one of the results will be the Encore DLC, which upon installation will link up to your Sonic Mania game. So in short: DONT: Try and get the DLC from in-game or the Sonic Mania store page (though this may update to work soon) DO: Search Sonic Mania - Encore DLC in the Steam search bar. Good luck everyone! Happy day!
  14. A couple of great smear frames of animation that I'd like to point out: This animation is magical in all the right ways xD
  15. That was literally... the opposite of a "Game Battle". It was 30 minutes of talking about the Sonic Toaster and Shoes with a quick "reveal" of how the box art looks (which we've technically seen just not as a physical thing). Game Battle = Toast 'n' Shoes. At least it was better than Nintendo's Conference
  16. Hydrocity is a weird zone for Sonic Mania. But have you ever thought about how Act 1 had all the new gimmicks and was completely different while Act 2 was more-or-less like the original? That's the exact reverse as to what all the other stages do. Act 1 is typically very similar, and Act 2 is where things switch up. The reason for this, as from what seems most logical, is that you are traversing Hydrocity in REVERSE. Think about it, Mirage Saloon begins on the Tornado. Where was the Tornado last seen? In Angel Island Zone. If you are deep within Hydrocity Zone, to reach the Tornado you need to traverse Hydrocity in Reverse to reach Angel Island Zone. You started in the deep parts of Hydrocity (imagine it like it would be a Sonic 3 Hydrocity Act 3 if there was one), thus all the fancy gimmicks/the Act 2 background/etc. Then you progress and reach the end of the act. The battle arena is very similar to that of the end of "act 2 of Sonic 3". After the battle you start up the next act. You have now traversed into the "original Act 2 from Sonic 3" section of Hydrocity. This means you are closer and closer to the "entrance" of Hydrocity. You are nearing the original "act 1" and the background now changed to represent that: You are traversing Hydrocity from "Deep within" TOWARDS Angel Island Zone. You will even realize that the second half of Hydrocity Act 2 is nearly identical. Then when fighting the "Zone Boss" of Hydrocity, you are going down a long long pathway. This eventually (upon defeat) lands you into the "Act 1 Miniboss" arena. That's because your "reverse" traversal through Hydrocity has now brought you from Act 2 towards the original "Act 1". Then the transition between Hydrocity and Mirage Saloon makes sense (but should be visibly shown), that you get out of the entrance of Hydrocity to reach Angel Island Zone so you can reach the Tornado. Hydrocity Zone is (from the eyes of the Original Sonic 3) technically: Act 3 > Act 2 > Act 1 (Reverse) Thus, to help convey that message the background start you with the "Deeper half" of the zone, then in the next act show the "Closer to the entrance" background. Does that make sense?
  17. From the looks of the video (and these screenshots) there was a good chunk of changed content. About 90% of it is nearly identical, but then the changes come in bursts rather than scattered throughout. My favourite of the pallete swaps that we've seen so far has got to be Chemical Plant, Hydrocity, and Oil Ocean.
  18. I think the trick used on the stream was to use Debug Mode to skip the transitions. I think the scripted transitions break the Encore connection. Try that maybe?
  19. Looks like Mirage Saloon Act 1 is now a full non-plane stage for Sonic now in Encore Mode! So technically not a new zone, but still a brand new full act.
  20. Introducing new DLC to Sonic Mania! Sonic Mania Minus (& Knuckles)
  21. A new article/interview was posted with a few new screenshots (i dont recall if the angel island one was ever 100% cleanly visible before): https://www.famitsu.com/news/201805/01156313.html Plus lookin more and more amazing with each screenshot!
  22. Some changes I noticed that others haven't really pointed out: The Oil Ocean Act 2 boss seems to have had A LOT of changes to it: -When platforms are pulled down, you don't get insta-killed. -Rings slowly float down the oil -The lazer-shooting gun ONLY shoots 2 times (rather than 3) -The LavaReef "shooters" no longer focus on the player, but shoot AT Robotnik, then with each shot aim higher and higher -One of the LavaReef "shooters" moves to be on the other side of the middle platform to sink back down Overall, it looks like the boss is now A LOT easier, less Cheap, and not so much of a "waiting" game by a little. The Metal Sonic Boss fight had a few changes to the Middle-Phase of the battle: -The mini-sonics now, upon death, shoot out 4 "bullets" into the air -Those "bullets" can actually HURT Metal Sonic -Metal Sonic only takes 3 hits to defeat during that phase -When Metal Sonic "powers up" to shoot you during this phase, he has a new effect Overall, it looks like this phase has a new method to hurt Metal Sonic so players who don't know the "spin-dash into the minisonic" method don't get stuck and it lasts a lot less time. These changes are all super welcome Maybe I won't dread these parts of the game now!
  23. I think you're off by an hour. SXSW isn't going by EST, its CT. 2:30 hours remaining as of this minute.
  24. Oh I know, I never said that there CANT be a reveal. I just know that a lot of people (including that video up above posted by Soneez) claim that "last time at SXSW they revealed Sonic Forces and Mania!" so im just reminding people that it wasn't SXSW where it was revealed.
