  1. Anyone else hear that the Wii U version will support up to five players offline? Four on split-screen and one on the GamePad. Not completely unexpected or unheard of (NSMBU, NintendoLand, Rayman Legends all have similar options), but still a nice little addition, if true. http://www.tssznews....ne-multiplayer/
  2. I really thought the Miis were going to be absent in Transformed (though I'm very pleased that they're in! ). S0L (or maybe it was Sumo-Rex) once mentioned that one of the reasons why Miis and Avatars wouldn't be practical as riders on NiGHTS and Reala was potential licensing issues, so I thought maybe their inclusion in the game itself might be skipped.
  3. That means if you start a race in the water, you'll need someone who can swim--Ecco!!
  4. http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?409253-Semi-official-fire-questions-at-SUMO-and-get-vague-responses-thread&p=7478889&viewfull=1#post7478889 So...does this non-confirmation confirm he's making a cameo appearance in the game? At least in the Outrun track? Or am I just grasping at straws? I was starting to think that perhaps Vectorman would be the flagman in Transformed. Guess I'll just have to wait and see... I'm happy with the inclusion of Metal. Although I have the Wii version of the first game and never got to play him, I'd hate for him to be left out...probably because I never got the chance. Here's hoping the Wii U version gets the same bonus treatment (whenever Nintendo gives the "Okay" for third parties to reveal their Wii U games).
  5. Cool--good to know. When I eventually play Transformed, I'll have little trouble taking it at face value. If I need to let my mind wander...it's NiGHTS' dreamworld.
  6. Normally, I like a story mode in collaboration games just to help me piece things together why certain things are happening. While I didn't mind not having one in Smash Bros 64 and Melee, I certainly appreciated the story mode in Brawl. Regarding the first Sonic Racing title, I was willing to suspend disbelief and just take it for what it was--a homage to Sega's characters. If at any point I needed to rationalize it, I kind of made up that since NiGHTS is present, this is all happening in the dream world. If there's no story mode in Transformed (which I won't mind if there isn't), I'll just do the same. If all else fails... Magic.
  7. This is really awesome. I honestly feel as if they (Archie) will treat this cross-over with the fan fiction-esque approach it deserves. I mean--not only pairing Sonic vs Mega Man (obviously at some point this will happen, and then they'll be friends), but already alluding to Knuckles vs Proto Man, and Shadow vs Bass--everything just fits so well.
  8. Beat me to it, VEDJ-F! It seemed like it would happen eventually, but I can't wait!
  9. Agreed. While, if given the choice, I think I might prefer to play as NiGHTS in a car/boat/plane (opposed to a Nightopian/Nightmaren operating a NiGHTS/Reala vehicle), it makes perfect sense that Sumo and Sega went in this direction--in terms of the "transformed" aspect that you mentioned, along with the gameplay of Journey of Dreams. In fact, there was a large outcry from fans that Elliot and Claris should be in the next iteration in just the same manner that the Nightopian and Nightmaren are. I know when I'm playing as the Nightopian/NiGHTS combo flying section, and I see the Nightmaren/Reala team, I'm going to have that twinge of giddiness, as I try to take the lead, bump them to the side, or unleash a special attack. I'm good with this decision. Just glad to see NiGHTS and its evil twin in the game.
  10. Sonic Spinball was the first Sonic game I ever felt disappointed with. Looking back, it's not a bad game. In fact, I suppose I can see why it garners praise. However, as a young child it felt slow, monotonous, and difficult (I feel this way every time I play it, to this day). I found the whole "Spinball" mechanics work best in short-bursts, for example the pinball stages in Sonic Adventure (and to a lesser extent, Sonic Heroes). Unless it's a cheap, mobile game, I can't see--nor would I like to see--another Spinball-esque title.
  11. Those are the kinds of questions that keep me up at night...
  12. We can hope, I suppose. Failing this, I pictured 1. A new character's track (created just for S&ASRT, similar to--for instance--Taboo created just for Smash Bros.) or 2. A NASCAR track vis-a-vis Danica Patrick (one couldn't say Sega owns that IP...). Ah, I see--I should have taken that into consideration. Thanks for the tidbits, S0L--you make all this wishing and speculating a lot fun.
  13. As long as I'm on my Altered Beast kick (from the Racer Roster thread), why not an Altered Beast stage: The Altered Beast-themed track would represent the first level in the original Altered Beast game—the Roman graveyard. If possible, a semi-transparent Zeus should appear after the race starts. The track, optimally, would have quite a number of hazard sections. One section would have the random monoliths/tombs spring from the dirt, another could be akin to “Curien’s Mansion” tracks from the first S&SASR where you have your undead walking around, and finally towards the end you would race past Aggar—the first transformation of Neff. Aggar would throw his regenerating heads, causing racers to wipe-out if they aren’t careful. The water sections would be on a marsh and the flying sections would be a brief gap between tracks—perhaps showing the underworld that the Centurion(s) descend into after each successful level completion.
  14. Next to Sonic, I think think Altered Beast is the one Sega game/franchise that I most have a soft spot for. I know it's panned these days, but it was the first Genesis game I ever played, helped me start my love for all things Sega, made me feel a sense of camraderie when playing two-players...plus if there's anything cooler than morphing into a werebear and turning underworld demons to stone with your breath, I don't want to know about it. As such, I think it's just easier to pick and pray for one character that I'd like to see from the multitude of Sega franchises. ...There's just so many. Altered Beast Centurion – The Centurion would be his normal human self while racing on land. He would be muscular (but not the “super-man” third stage) and clad with the red tunic over one shoulder. During the flying sections, not only would the car transform into a flying vehicle, but the Centurion would transform as well—in this case, he would be a were-dragon. Similarly, he would become a were-shark(as seen in Game Boy Advance’s Guardian of the Realms and “Project” Altered Beast on PS2) skimming across the water on his watercraft/boat. The Centurion’s all-star move will be transforming into the were-wolf; the screen will cut away briefly to show the transformation, and the were-wolf will do his special move “arrow/lightning dash” that he does in the original game. Similar to Super Sonic, pressing a button will have him dash with more vigor.
