  1. Whoever thinks sonic prime won't have redesigns of the characters is fooling themselves. It's necessary to distinguish show sonic from game sonic. For example, when we first caught the snippet of the teaser that we now know is sonic rangers, some fans thought sega was showing off something from sonic prime. Sonic boom did it. I have reason to believe that sonic prime will do it too.

I don't think it's absolutely necessary. The comics for example are their own thing and I'd argue that's even more confusing since it used the game continuity up to Forces as a starting point. Despite that it's no biggie the characters all look as we know them.

Sonic Boom was an entire sub-brand meant to be entirely seperate from SEGA Sonic, so redesigns totally made sense to set them apart and fit in the (initial) tone of the new continuity.

The final Sonic movie design is very much the SEGA Sonic design adapted to somewhat fit believably into live action. In fact after the fiasco of the first movie trailer I don't think SEGA are going to be taking any chances with 3rd-party redesigns anytime soon.

Only as much of a redesign as Junio's CD design, Hesse's Mania design and the O.K.K.O design are redesign's I'd say.

While Man of Action may twist and tweak various aspects of Sonic's look, after the failure of Boom and the old movie look, I wouldn't expect anything as radical less SEGA want of repeat of them.

I think we're at a point now where SEGA as a whole has everything about Sonic more locked down and things are more centralized through the same channels to keep things on brand, for better or for worse. So i imagine the shows models likely won't be straight from the games, I imagine they're going to look pretty dang close. I don't think SEGA is interested in having another Boom, I think they're gonna want this one pretty game adjacent.

Well it would make sense not to make them too drastic.

My guess is blue arms or tan eyelids at the most.

is it? they didn't redesign the characters to distinguish between game and IDW sonic. it could easily go either way, just depends on what they're trying to do with it.
