I would not at all be surprised if the manga starts adapting Broly.
And then I would not at all be surprised if the anime starts back up with an adaptation of Broly.

I'm still getting issues (because they ignored my requests for monetary compensation). I had nearly two year subscriptions for both STH and SU both of which had already been extended after Mega Man and Boom were cancelled and my remaining issues for those were transferred. I haven't opened any of the non-Sonic comics, so I could check to see how much I have left later.

Misunderstanding the tone of Sonic 1 is important if that's what you're looking for with a future Sonic game. Scrap Brain Zone doesn't make Sonic 1 as a whole dark any more than Big Boo's Haunt makes Mario 64 dark.
Anyway, I can say with no hesitation that a game with just Sonic and Eggman sounds dreadfully boring to me. I like that Sonic stories usually revolve around Sonic bringing about a change in another character and like seeing Sonic's extended cast of personalities play off of one another. If the game was just Sonic and Eggman, you only have one or two cutscene options (assuming there would be cutscene as you're contrasting your idea against Unleashed, Colors, etc). One: Sonic is by himself. See the scenes in Colors when he's making jokes to mute robots. Two: Sonic is with Eggman. See any scene where Sonic and Eggman interact since Adventure.
That's really it. It purposefully limits how much variety can actually be shown between the characters.

I hated the repeated levels in SASR. I get that it's the cheap option, but geez everything seems to be "it's the cheap option" with regards to this series. I don't like the cutscenes being barebones but I realized it was a possibility given Free Riders. It sucks that it's coming off of Forces talking heads cutscenes too.
This game has two things going for it right now for me: the story mode giving us new character interactions like with Team Vector and the fact that it's an easy to pick up kart racer I can play with my girlfriend.
This game feels so small. If it's really performing poorly too... man.

I'm not a fan of Streets of Rage, but this is cool news for its fans and I'm always interested in a new entry in a Sega franchise.

16 out of the 20 characters from Rio are now playable, just leaving Sticks, Eggman, Nega, and Wave. Not counting alternate costumes and forms, the remaining cast from Runners includes Tikal, Sticks again, Mephiles, and the Werehog if you don't count that as equivalent to Goth Amy and ESP Silver. The only character in Speed Battle so far that wasn't playable in either is Chaos, who obviously was included because of the connection to Forces. I didn't expect to see Zazz honestly so I have no idea how likely we are to see any of the above or otherwise. Pretty cool to see how many have shown up though.

We're stil getting used to the process of making comics and various factors have led to delays. Multiple issues are still being worked on, so rest assured we're far from dead.

Just to float the idea - Cream, Espio, and Charmy could be added as DLC if Sega and Sumo should choose so. I personally would prefer some odd ducks like Zavok, Jet, Infinite, or Chaos, but adding Espio, Cream, or Charmy would make sense as they're more recognizable. It's at least something to tweet or message the relevant parties about if you feel strongly about it.

You know, back on Bumbleking when Ian would do the knowing smile thing, it was in response to a question or a some tangible subject being discussed. The rest of us knew he was saying he had plans for or something was in the works related to what we were talking about giving us a level of expectation and opportunity to speculate in the meantime.
In contrast, Ian's posted an exclamation mark. That could be literally anything. Maybe a new Sonic book is coming out, maybe Mega Man is coming back, maybe he's writing a game script, maybe he's writing an episode of the new Turtles show, maybe he's going to be part of another encyclopedia book, maybe he got approval for something Superman related, maybe one of his pet projects just got a breakthrough, maybe it has to do with the Bumblekast, maybe he's been invited on the stream again, maybe he gets to meet Iizuka, maybe Aleah will be joining the comic, maybe he's just having a good day and came up with a neat idea.
I'm sure Ian means well, but those cute little habits only work in an environment where they have quantifiable meaning.

But seriously, if Toriyama's story really is getting restructured just to make it a movie, I hope the full version gets made later.

Maybe one of the reasons I want to see the Freedom Fighters is because my favorite issue so far has been issue 4 and Tangle was one of the major reasons for that (Blaze and Evan too). It felt like it had something new or different to say, and introducing newly rebooted Freedom Fighters would feel that way too. We know they wouldn't be like in Archie Sonic pre or post-reboot at the very least, meaning there would be something to look forward to.
Reading the book right now is very hard because it honestly feels like there's nothing exciting to latch onto. Too much time is being spent on introducing the secondary or possibly tertiary cast without establishing an environment or narrative outside of them. We've had 7 issues so far and outside of the Egg Fleet flagship, none of the locations even remotely stand out. The characters are being introduced, but not in a way that lets the reader get to know them; you're expected to know who this cast is (IDW originals notwithstanding) and it hurts the book being able to stand on it's own without the games backdrop.
Ian and company keep insisting this is a new continuity, and I get it; it's not like the games are going to start referencing what happens in the American spin-off comic. But even if this were canon to the games, I still expect the story to be structured in a way that let's characters be introduced in a setting that plays off their strengths, personalities, and relationships so I can be interested in seeing them again. The closest we've gotten to that are issue 4 and Sonic and Shadow (arguably Mr. Tinker) in issue 6. Nothing else stands out, it's all blurring together.
Compare this to how Ian structured Countdown to Chaos. Each Freedom Fighter was given specific focus to show off who they were and what role they filled while in the background and to the side new characters were shown off, varied locations got to be given focus, the Unleashed narrative was getting setup, and all of that was on top of the dual memory sub-plot. That story had much more baggage and expectations placed on it, and yet it still succeeded at being a better new launch story than IDW has even attempted so far.
I don't know if Ian is just trying to set the bar as low as he can as he feels out what IDW wants out of the book, or if the reason Ian's stories in Archie Sonic were so good was because the likes of Kaminski and Lovallo had a better sense of story management, flow, and understanding of the material than Hughes and Mariotte do. I don't know, but for the most part it's just coming off so far as a bland promotional tool for Forces leading into the franchise in general rather than content that wants to actually tell an engaging story that'll still be going 5-10 years from now. In that way, it feels a lot more like how pre-reboot Archie started rather than post-reboot come to think of it.
I'm going to keep reading it no matter what, but I do hope it gets better at some point.
