  1. Gemerl probably has a decent chance of showing up to flesh out the resistance and give it more relevant characters. I only remember him from Worlds Unite but I liked his design and personality a lot.
  2. Why do you want the ability to increase breast size to be in a game for children?
  3. The problem is that whoever writes at Sonic Team doesn't understand that having a bunch of quirky one liners doesn't make you cool when you're not proving why Sonic's ego is so damn huge by having him DO THINGS. This is something that not a single fucking Modern Sonic game has gotten right consistently ever. You can't just have Sonic bragging about how awesome he is and shit talking villians without giving that snark some kind of credibility. As such Sonic's snark comes off as annoying and grating because the writers don't understand the difference between acting cool and being cool. It's not enough to have Sonic say he can destroy 100 robots without finishing a breath, he needs to actually DO IT.
  4. Yes, because Ian would totally not give them identifiable personalities and make them intimidating. I understand not liking them, but just because they were made like that in mania doesn't mean they'll be the same characters in a comic that focuses on story and characters.
  5. Because people get offended when you shit on things they like and try to come up with the most obnoxious excuses possible as to why their precious didn't get a grade A from the critics. For Sonic fans it's because there's this ingrained thought process that "Bad review = Sonic haters" when in reality the game probably just isn't that good and they can't handle criticism.
  6. I'd honestly be fine with the game getting sevens and eights as long as their flaws were still addressed, that's really all I want out of these reviews anyways. Now I don't personally think Forces deserves anything above a six but eh that doesn't really matter at this point.
  7. Uh... I think any game that gets POSITIVE reviews wouldn't be NEGATIVELY effected by them. That's kind of the entire point. If mania was being universally shat on it would be harmful because it would tell Sega that Mania isn't the kind of Sonic game people want.
  8. Nah fam, you've got me all wrong. I mean of course a part of me is satisfied that this game isn't getting an easy pass, but It isn't because I'm a blind Forces hater. Mostly I am just relieved that it's actual flaws are being recognized and addressed deeper then a surface level. But if this game failing is what it takes for Sonic Team to realize what they're doing wrong then hell yeah seeing a bunch of bad reviews will make me a happy camper. I don't see how wanting a game to get honest critique makes me have some sort of confirmation bias, though.
  9. Why would I be desperate for something that I already know is going to happen?
  10. Not gonna lie that 5/10 score is satisfying as fuck.
  11. Sonic Team's overall staff is a fine group of competent programmers, each boost game has gotten steadily more polished so I don't have a problem with the team on a technical aspect. The problem lies in certain directors and level designers who can end up making a game that should be good bad because they lack the understanding of what the appeal of Sonic The Hedgehog actually is. I don't think I speak for myself when I say that I really don't want Kishimoto or any level designers who worked exclusively on Colors, Lost World and Forces to ever have major involvement in a Sonic game again. They just don't get the appeal of Sonic in general or the boost gameplay, turning 3D sections into small hallways with no interesting design to them and 2D sections that lack any sort of flow or sense of speed that you'd expect from an Unleashed style game.
  12. THE ENTIRE GAME IS ONE GIANT TUTORIAL FOR THE NEXT SONIC GAME!!!
  13. "This level was short and simple, but that's OK because other games also had short and simple first levels." Excusing a game's bad design by pointing out other games that also have bad design doesn't suddenly make the bad design good.
  14. I could have told you that from the obnoxious amounts of tutorial bubbles littered in the first half of the level.
  15. To make the levels look longer then they actually are.
  16. If I had a nickel for every time someone said that in defense of this shit level design I'd be able to buy Mania 6 more times.
  17. So apparently there's a time glitch you can do which let's you complete the rest of the level. Which is basically just a generic rail switching section that lasts for about 20 seconds. Man, these levels are so short and lacking in interesting design that the entire game just feels so... halfassed and generic imo.
  18. Welcome to what is known as the biggest fundamental flaw of the boost formula.
  19. The problem is that the entire game we've seen so far has been exactly what you just described. Straight and narrow with hardly any complexity in its structure. And just an FYI, level design philosophy doesn't change after 6 levels of doing the same thing on a whim, I would be pretty confident in saying the level design we've seen so far is representative of Forces' levels as a whole.
  20. If the chef's food is literally burning on the stove and/or he's giving me taste tests of what he's making and I didn't like it then yes I would tell him that I'm not going to eat his fucking food. That's the entire point of previews, trailers and demos. They are literally made for people to give their judgement on and make decisions about whether or not you want to buy the game.
  21. We all are, which is exactly why we're giving the game so much shit for failing to be better then what it actually is. Do you really think any of us wanted this game to suck and be here talking about how much it sucks and keeps getting worse the more gameplay gets revealed of it?
  22. I personally find it to be a very pointless thing to bring attention to considering how little their childhoods are ever explored in any other medium and their origins outside of maybe Knuckles aren't things that people tend to wonder about very often. I also find that the origins of Sonic and his friends aren't REALLY important in what made the characters how they are if nobody ever mentions them.
  23. IDW panel in a nutshell Asks question "We can't answer that for you at the moment" Repeat until it's time to end it and go out for donuts.
  24. Popular I disagree with: Sonic is a kids franchise. What kinds of marketing in the past couple of years has actually led people to believe this is the case? If anything they market way more towards people who are already Sonic fans due to how much nostalgia is in most of the newer games. Unpopular agree with: Sonic Adventure 2 is not a good game.
  25. That's not because the control is bad, it's because the game has a really well made physics engine that allows you to make crazy shortcuts not intended. They by all means could have had a bunch of invisible walls and ceilings stopping you from exploiting the game, but they probably realized that restricting the player's freedom wouldn't be as fun.
