  1. Just looking again at the SM Adventures Part 6.

    Hope you all noticed that Amy carried Metal Sonic through Mushroom Hill and Ice Cap. 

    You know what that means ?

      I liked how when the bird came out of metal sonic, it reminded me of amy's story from sonic adventure.

      Amy has a soft spot for robots that kidnap and imprison her.

      No, what I meant is... that Ice Cap music is forbidden, but as a level is OK at SEGA. Basically what we all thought.

  2. Tbh, Eukaryot´s yesterday Sonic 3 A.I.R. preview with Marble Garden and Carnival Night is the best Christmas present for me this year.

  3. I think the present status of Sonic is weird. Anyone (fans or a different SEGA developing studio) is doing a better job with Sonic in games than "Sonic" Team.

    I still wonder if Sonic Team has any plans...

      Well, after seeing Sonic Forces - Emerald Coast mod and the statuses shared on twitter (Mania with keys from SA1/2 etc.) I do believe they will try to reimagine (at least) the Adventure games. Another reason is the movie and I don´t believe they would miss such an opportunity, when the movie revolves around a story akin to the Adventure games, if not the same.

      I don´t really care about arena. I think it´s useless.

      I will share my "team". Consists of Cpt. Onishima, Sonic, Big and Beat.

      Cpt.Onishima: Deals quite good damage. And reuse of "Send in the choppers" sounds good in my ears.

      Sonic: Starts with 3 mana. With 10 mana you have MAX attack that creates blue super star. Blue super star cleared = extra turn.

      Big: Heals himself with Star Attack. Deals damage to all enemies and converts 5 green (not stars etc.) into blue (=more power for Sonic).

      Beat: Star attack deals damage. MAX Attack enhances 2 Green and 2 Blue tiles into Star Tiles (=more power for Big = more power for Sonic, Blue Star Tiles = even more power for Sonic) and heals himself and allies.

      This tactics only fail if Sonic is killed first.

      Well SEGA is leeching off of Crash's benefits in Japan.

      And one could argue Sonic made a fortune out of the porting market LONG before either of them did.

      Technically Sonic did it first but in a more subtle level with the Taxman remasters anyway (which use the same graphics, but on a new engine with extras and other bells and whistles), just SEGA won't utilise that and rerelease them in a compilation.

      SEGA won't greenlight a remaster of Sonic 1, 2 & 3 with modern graphics because of how much it would cost.

      I wouldn't trust Sonic Team with a remaster because we know they'd make a mess of the physics. So it would need to be in the hands of Team Mania etc.

      They seem to be fine with loads of lite remakes like Generations and Mania however.

      One could argue that might be the better direction, since such games are less likely to rated according to how they add up in every detail against the originals.

      Why Mania Team ? Sonic Orca engine that is used to build Sonic 2 HD would be certainly capable of remastering all classic titles. But you are right, SEGA would have to pay the guys to get it done and that´s what they won´t ever do.

    I´M NOT WEAK ! AAAAARGH !

      C'mon it's not that bad, I got to zone 5 and unlocked 10 characters in a week.

      It´s not bad in any case. I am playing second day and in zone 4... & KNUCKLES.

      I just find it a bit irritating that soon after you complete tutorial, you can hardly get through any level. Basically I just went further after "looting" previous stages, thus getting higher level and that is a bit odd in my opinion.

      Sounds like a typical "Annoying you with little progress so you pay money" Free to Play game to me.

      I would it kind of is, but if you don´t care, you don´t have to pay. Anyway, there are 2 unlockable chests with coins, XP and a special thing every 3h, lots of stages to try - Campaign, Premiere Event, 2 "Hunts" and "Wanted Poster".

      And about characters - you get Death Adder almost at the beginning (far more powerful than others), Sonic needs 50 Hero Shards to unlock and is "Epic" (I have 16, basically for quests and achievements), Tails needs 65 shards and is "Legendary".

  9. Does anybody have a glitch in Sonic 1 (Android) like me? I can´t seem to finish Spring Yard Zone Act 3, because, well, after freeing the animals Sonic dies when he gets offscreen.

  10. Finally completed the Sonic NEXT SAGE 2018 Demo after many tries. So, now I know why Sonic 06 is so  f... ehm... up. 

  11. What if Sonic Advance was recreated in Retro Engine in a style close to Dreamcast games ?




    Plus maybe DREAMCAST port.

    They kind of tried to amalgamate 16-bit Sonic 1, 8-bit Sonic 1, 8-bit Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos South Island renditions.

    Sonic Advance was on Angel Island, right ?

      I had the thought a while back that technically the only way Sonic Forces could be compatible with established canon is that it is entirely set in South Island, and that by that logic, we could assume that Mystic Jungle is the same Jungle of Jungle Zone.

      I don't see how Sonic Advance is related, but I don't think there's any evidence one way or another that it was set on Angel Island.  It easily could be since the tropes match up for the most part, but it could just as easily be Zone 5 only that is set on Angel Island.

      Well, Sonic Advance... Casino Paradise seems kind of akin to the Casino Forest. Neo Green Hill like... ok... Secret Base is technically Metropolis from Sonic 2. Ice Mountain could also be near the newly-built-in-Forces Chemical Plant.


      One thing that came up to my mind (in connection with the Sonic Chaos remake from SAGE) is the Forces "City" stage being inspired by Spring Yard and Star Light from S1 and Gigapolis from Chaos.

      Spring Yard feels a bit too modern architecture and Giglopolis a bit too hi-tech to be the same location as City in Forces.  I always imagined that if Forces is on South Island, City is simply an area we've never been to in the series before.

      They could be remote areas of Metropolis in Sonic Forces. Star Light could be the same city as in the background of Spring Yard, but from the opposite side. Also the Marble Zone could be a remote area of Mystic Jungle etc.

      Sonic Team could really cater more on the info about the world just for the sake of... nostalgia ?

  13. So... I have been thinking about canonicity of SM Plus vs. SM Adventures few days ago... ehm... once again. And I figured out that:

    Mania could actually happen in both original timeline and "Classic Sonic from Generations" timeline. The outcome is different...

    Classic Sonic - is transported to Sonic Forces from Egg Reverie. At the end of the Forces, he just disappears. Yeah, SM Adventures do have a "Phantom Ruby" sound at the beginning, but it is connected. He finds Green Ch.Emerald nearby and SM Adventures proceed.

    However, Sonic from original timeline, is not transported to help Tails in Sonic Forces, but directly to the Angel Island. That´s why Heavy King and basically all others are there (I still wonder why Heavy Magician survived) and original Sonic rescues Mighty and Ray from the capsule.

    And now where Mania and all shenanigans are in the timeline: My best guess would be: after Sonic (3) and Knuckles, Knuckles´ Chaotix, Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R. Basically a later Saturn game, as if it was released exactly 20 years prior. Imagine August 1997 or July 1998.

  17. Looking at the video about the prototype polygon models of characters in Sonic R by Jon Burton... I can´t resist the idea of a Sonic R remaster. Classic characters and Generations-esque look would be... ehm... wonderful.

      I'd rather they just made a brand new footracer to be honest. R's only real novelty was that it was a racer with platforming elements and it didn't even do them that well.

      R is also a painfully small game. It's got a mere five tracks. I'd like another footracer game, in which one of the cups consists of remade R tracks. It's really only a fraction of a game in terms of content.

      You are right on that bit. I do believe a footracer could be successful in some terms, even if being just Classic Sonic one-off thing. Not related to this exclusively, but I would like to see Metal Tails if there will be a Mania sequel. :D

      Pausing during the transition = not a good idea. But I like the changes done to Press Garden Act 1. One pressing machine has slightly different box set-up, character looking up during the beginning and slight change to the colors of Shiversaw.

      Plus restarting the act restores everything to normal. I mean it is just skip to the Act 1 results.

  23. Jungle Man and Robot Girl... Jungle Man and Robot Girl... Jungle Man and Robot Girl... victims of the modern world.
    Beat my PR in Crazy Taxi 3 - Glitter Oasis (I never had more than 260k) and well, it definitely deserves a "Mania" true to form. Lenghty 4-5 hours of pure gaming time, but totally worth it.
