  6. Just looking again at the SM Adventures Part 6.

    Hope you all noticed that Amy carried Metal Sonic through Mushroom Hill and Ice Cap.

      I liked how when the bird came out of metal sonic, it reminded me of amy's story from sonic adventure.

      Amy has a soft spot for robots that kidnap and imprison her.

      There's nothing that suggests that there's another DLC in the making, not even SteamDB. Just sayin'

      No, what I meant is... that Ice Cap music is forbidden, but as a level is OK at SEGA. Basically what we all thought.

      @Pelvic WOO! engine after all, it´s Sonic Mania Adventures. There were minor, but easily recognizable bits.

  7. Tbh, Eukaryot´s yesterday Sonic 3 A.I.R. preview with Marble Garden and Carnival Night is the best Christmas present for me this year.

  9. Simple - Buzz Bomber, Crabmeat and Caterkiller are in SEGA Heroes. And they are simply HD-ified versions of the original sprites from Sonic 1 and it is done well. And in Generations... they look realistically... but it´s not really charming. And in Lost World made their designs too cartoony.
  10. I think the present status of Sonic is weird. Anyone (fans or a different SEGA developing studio) is doing a better job with Sonic in games than "Sonic" Team.

    I still wonder if Sonic Team has any plans...

      “Weird” is a severe understatement.  I just hope they get it together among their plans as this lack of direction, indecision among other things has gotten way past old.

      Well, after seeing Sonic Forces - Emerald Coast mod and the statuses shared on twitter (Mania with keys from SA1/2 etc.) I do believe they will try to reimagine (at least) the Adventure games. Another reason is the movie and I don´t believe they would miss such an opportunity, when the movie revolves around a story akin to the Adventure games, if not the same.

  11. To say something about ST´s lack of originality... 1. Wisps being used in 4 mainline games plus a spin-off and minor titles. 2. Mainly in Generations and Lost World: Failing to deliver nostalgia with badniks from classic games redone in HD (to the point that a mobile game by different team in SEGA (Demiurge) being able to deliver that IN A MOBILE GAME) 3. Levels being butchered since Generations with either dumb choices (Lost World) or "improvements of engine" (Forces) + level design being nerfed to boost to win + sometimes jump 4. Reusing the same levels all over again in mainline (Generations, Forces) and minor titles
  12. Is it just me or the right combination of characters with Sonic makes SEGA Heroes perpetuum mobile ?

      I don´t really care about arena. I think it´s useless.

      I will share my "team". Consists of Cpt. Onishima, Sonic, Big and Beat.

      Cpt.Onishima: Deals quite good damage. And reuse of "Send in the choppers" sounds good in my ears.

      Sonic: Starts with 3 mana. With 10 mana you have MAX attack that creates blue super star. Blue super star cleared = extra turn.

      Big: Heals himself with Star Attack. Deals damage to all enemies and converts 5 green (not stars etc.) into blue (=more power for Sonic).

      Beat: Star attack deals damage. MAX Attack enhances 2 Green and 2 Blue tiles into Star Tiles (=more power for Big = more power for Sonic, Blue Star Tiles = even more power for Sonic) and heals himself and allies.

      This tactics only fail if Sonic is killed first.

      Well SEGA is leeching off of Crash's benefits in Japan.

      And one could argue Sonic made a fortune out of the porting market LONG before either of them did.

      Technically Sonic did it first but in a more subtle level with the Taxman remasters anyway (which use the same graphics, but on a new engine with extras and other bells and whistles), just SEGA won't utilise that and rerelease them in a compilation.

      SEGA won't greenlight a remaster of Sonic 1, 2 & 3 with modern graphics because of how much it would cost.

      I wouldn't trust Sonic Team with a remaster because we know they'd make a mess of the physics. So it would need to be in the hands of Team Mania etc.

      They seem to be fine with loads of lite remakes like Generations and Mania however.

      One could argue that might be the better direction, since such games are less likely to rated according to how they add up in every detail against the originals.

      Why Mania Team ? Sonic Orca engine that is used to build Sonic 2 HD would be certainly capable of remastering all classic titles. But you are right, SEGA would have to pay the guys to get it done and that´s what they won´t ever do.

  15. So, I downloaded and played Sega Heroes and... wow, that spike in difficulty is so...

      C'mon it's not that bad, I got to zone 5 and unlocked 10 characters in a week.

      It´s not bad in any case. I am playing second day and in zone 4... & KNUCKLES.

      I just find it a bit irritating that soon after you complete tutorial, you can hardly get through any level. Basically I just went further after "looting" previous stages, thus getting higher level and that is a bit odd in my opinion.

      I would it kind of is, but if you don´t care, you don´t have to pay. Anyway, there are 2 unlockable chests with coins, XP and a special thing every 3h, lots of stages to try - Campaign, Premiere Event, 2 "Hunts" and "Wanted Poster".

      And about characters - you get Death Adder almost at the beginning (far more powerful than others), Sonic needs 50 Hero Shards to unlock and is "Epic" (I have 16, basically for quests and achievements), Tails needs 65 shards and is "Legendary".

      How about making the Mania remixes, along with Mania mixes of all the other music, an unlockable bonus for achieving neat stuff, like speed running the levels you want music for?

  17. Does anybody have a glitch in Sonic 1 (Android) like me? I can´t seem to finish Spring Yard Zone Act 3, because, well, after freeing the animals Sonic dies when he gets offscreen.

  18. Tbh I can see where the problem apart from the controls is. Think of it. How is it that Seaside Hill and Ocean Palace have alternative routes, but others don't. I assume the guy that worked on the level design with Iizuka got ill after the Ocean Palace. By the way, that's the reason why Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace was chosen for Generations. Least buggy and actually the only interesting levels in Heroes. I would say the best Iizuka-only creation is Mystic Mansion (T. Sonic/Dark). Has the least bottomless pits amount in the late game, though putting the 2 most tedious sections at the end is shitty. But it at least makes sense as a not-open level.
  19. I still wonder what it would be like if instead of Sonic 3D Blast we had Sonic Spindrift (beta name) and it would be a 2D platformer instead of an isometric 3D.
  20. One thing: great music. That´s for sure. Gameplay isn´t the best, but it´s good when you get used to it.
  21. I don´t care about which underwater zone I like. Any. Be it Labyrinth, Chemical Plant, Aquatic Ruin, Hydrocity, Carnival Night act 2 or Launch Base act 2. Ice Cap act 2 has water, but it´s not really an underwater zone, unless a Game Genie code for Higher Water Level is used. Then it is interesting.
  22. I would go with a different stance. Actually would like to see a purely ehm... Modern Sonic 2D game... of course, Forces is almost like it, but I would actually like to see some work of Sonic Team that also could use Tails for example. I bet most of the people here wanted to play Modern Tails in S4E2, which was only applicable in the co-op and even then it didn´t really feel fine. There are so many ideas... heck, even the "Battle for the Angel Island" that is in the IDW comics would be a great plot for the game. Imagine, having Generations-like style of the Sonic 3 and Knuckles stages, but this time, it could use much more variety. And the Metal Sonic in his Neo variation as a recurring boss and Eggman finally coming back in the end. Thus I smell a lost opportunity there for a silly small project, that frankly could have performed better than Forces.
  23. I have been thinking about this for a while, but I wasn´t really sure of whether I actually want to share it here. But here it is, some of my art. I am not a particularly skillful, but at least I try my best.
  24. This proves that Mike himself figured it out from the dialog. And apparently he is right that it would be inappropriate in 06. But seriously, the cutscenes in 06 were better than Forces. Not by much, but they showed more interaction with the characters.
