  1. They should've made Silver power and Marine in the team as Tech. That way Vector can ve with his friends.

  2. I have found the ultimate theme song for the upcoming Sonic Movie, saving the movie makers the effort of having to invent one:

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

This song comes to mind for a movie theme:

  3. So that's:

What's with Sonic Team and trying to replace Tails as Sonic's closest confidant?

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

Don't forget Luigi Sonic. (Gens, Forces)

    2. Ashwalking Bat

      Ashwalking Bat

Sonic Team must have a prejudice bias against Tails!

    3. A wild west steam engine
    4. Almar

The lead non-Eggman human for the Sonic movie.

    5. Celestia

      Excuse me.

His full name is Tom the Cop.

(Also aside from maybe Chris none of these characters "replaced" Tails. Chip least of all, unless Tails had a method of activating the temples and all that.)

    6. Almar

All except for Cop were presented as the one who Sonic confided in and had his back the most. And Mr. Cop's movie hasn't come out yet but it's obvious it'll more or less be Sonic X with him as an adult Christ (audience surrogate). That's the point.

What? Man, i am behind on some news. When did they give information about the sonic movie out?

    8. Crow the BOOLET

      Crow the BOOLET

So uh why do they all have C in their names?

      Apparently Sonic Team created Chris.

  4. You know, comparing Miyamoto's habit of retconning to Iizuka's, I notice Miyamoto is more upfront about what he says being retcons than Iizuka is. I mean just compare what Miyamoto says about the Koopalings not being Bowser's blood children (going out of his way to say that them not being blood related is the current story) to whatever Iizuka's been saying for a bunch of years.

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

Iizuka doesn't have the balls to admit that Sonic is not a hedgehog anymore or that he is Big's mother, like Miyamoto did.

Miyamoto is still guilty of overiding the Paper Mario series to Iizuka-like levels.

    2. Your Vest Friend

      Your Vest Friend

The Koopalings retcon reveal is just the Mario equivalent of the Chaotix retcon reveal.

    3. Strickerx5

Iizuka, while incompetent in most of his methods, seems to at least somewhat care about what he's saying. He tries to make sense of things the best way he can.

Miyamoto, on the other hand, never gave a shit to begin with in this area.

"t-the moon is turned to the side"

    5. Wraith

The koopalings being bowser's children in the first place was a localization thing, so Miyamoto was really just correcting what was meant to be the entire time

If you're to take Iizuka at face value and not just respect that he says weird shit on the spot sometimes and look the other way, he's revealed some dumb illogical retcon every time a sonic game comes out for a while now

    6. Almar

      > The koopalings being bowser's children in the first place was a localization thing

No it wasn't. SMB3 JP's manual has Bowser call them his children. And Miyamoto bothering to say that them just being Bowser's henchmen is the "current story" instead of the lore he planned the whole time points against what you say.

    7. Wraith

just looked into it and you're right.

They probably changed it because they like to play up the Bowser/Jr relationship and wanted Jr to have the privilege of being Bowser's son to himself.

    8. Almar

      No doubt there.

  5. ShroobAlien_Pits.png

It's occured to me that the Shroobs are really a better done version of the Black Arms.

  6. If I believed Sonic Team cared anymore about pretending to have continuity then I'd wonder if they're trying to figure out how to have Shadow's backstory happen in Two Worlds.

  7. Sonic Team needs to decide whether Sonic is a series about a hedgehog and Theodore Roosevelt duking it out in different environments with other characters changing for the situation or one where the hedgehog and president are members of a wider world with an extensive cast.

    1. Marcello

      Those aren't mutually exclusive.

    2. Almar

Maybe not, but Sonic Team has shown it's not capable anymore of trying to reconcile them. Forces tries to force in characters from across the series with only like 2-3 of Sonic's friends being remotely relevant (and one of them being Tails has showings so poor they're mocked hard).

  8. I hope Forces being yet another disappointment makes Sonic Team realize that no, they don't have to bring back every character and can get by with only 2-3 of Sonic's posse showing up a game.

    1. Dee Dude

      Dee Dude

      Lost World.

It’s not about who or how many appear, it’s how they’re handled.

    2. Almar

You raise Lost World and I raise you Colors.

    3. RedFox99

And don't forgot that the characters who do appear should be vital to the plot.

    4. Almar

Also, I neglected to mention that spinoffs like the Olympics games or obvious fanservice games like Sonic Generations are exceptions.

    5. Badnik Mechanic

      Badnik Mechanic

The number of characters in this game is the least of it's problems.

    6. Almar

When you make a big a deal about a Resistance formed from Sonic's mighty crew only for them to amount to cheerleaders and/or follow the Zapp Brannigan Book of Warfare, it's a sign you're not really needed.

It's obvious that the game was designed around Sonic and the OC. That could have worked except they also tried to be a sorta Sonic Generations 2, hence the Resistance and Infinite making illusions of past non-Eggman villains. It's part of a wider problem with the game suffering from the Too Many Chefs Ruin A Meal situation.

    7. RedFox99

Exactly. Forces seemed to ambitious about doing many things at once.

  9. You know, it's weak that back in Shadow the Hedgehog Dr. Eggman never offered to tell Shadow about his past if he helped him against the Black Arms/GUN/Sonic.

"Shadow! Help me chase the GUN robots at my theme park and I'll tell you more about your past!"

They could have even bonded over their shared contempt for GUN and connection to Gerald with Maria. Instead, we got some Android Shadow subplot that really didn't go anywhere.

  10. The worst part of Tails in Sonic Forces is that he's no longer worthy of his theme song.

    Believe in Myself

    Many friends help me out
    In return I help them
Certain things I can do, and there's things that only I can do

Time to get a new more fitting theme song. I'm looking for all suggestions.

    1. Shiguy

I know just the right one too

    2. Jack out of the comics!
  11. For how much Sonic tries harder to have more plot than Mario, I'd say Mario's world does come off as more... developed (or is it diverse)? Even if discounting the MRPGs, it did better to have have a more even cut between humanity and monsters/anthros/whatever than the Sonic games (which bounce to the extremes of Eggman being the token human in an apparently fluffy world and Sonic's posse being the only anthros in a human world). Koopas and other Mario species have both heroic and villainous characters. The closest Sonic has to that is the echidnas.

I believe part of how Mario has gotten away with its ever enlarging cast (as opposed to Sonic's "garbage friends" as they're called) is that it's done better to establish it's a big world. As odd as it might be to say, I ask if Sonic wouldn't have this problem if the games bothered to have more joe six pack anthro side characters who might or might not be one of an established character's species. Kind of what Boom does actually. And now Forces. So, good job on that second one Sonic Team?

  12. For a character modeled on Western Animation icons like Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny, it's odd how the games (as oppposed to comics, shows, etc.) have done little to let Sonic have a proper rogue's gallery (as in not filled with giant monsters/gods/aliens/whatever obviously there for one game or Recolor The Character). I mean, Bugs Bunny tangoed with Yosemite Sam since Elmer Fudd wasn't threatening enough, then with Rocky and Marvin the Martian once Sam also stopped being threatening. Mickey has The Phantom Blot and Pete at least.

I know the Riders games have the Babylon Rogues, but they're still only in the Sport Spinoffs.

  13. To this day I'm impressed by how terrible of a character Eggman Nega is.

"Sonic Team Member A: Okay, we finished designing our new lead character who's another dimension answer to Sonic. She's a firey ballerina to Sonic's windy track star. Dutiful where he's a wanderer doing what he will. The Prince to his Michael Jackson."

"Sonic Team Member A: She needs a nemesis. Her own Eggman."

"Sonic Team Member B: How about we make her nemesis... Eggman, but edgier!"

"Sonic Team Member A: Top-notch idea!"

And it was downwards from there.

    1. NegaMetallix

This is why I think that Captain Whisker just works better as a main villain for Blaze.

  14. I noticed that neither S3AndK or Sadv says only Echidnas lived in whatever continent that Angel Island was on before Chaos went postal. With that noted, see these hieroglyphics:

    See anything... human there?

    1. RedFox99

Egypt or at least their version of Egpyt? Hmmm...

    2. Almar

That's the thing. It's on none other than Angel Island. Which I say points to Angel Island (or at least the civilization with the elders who tried to abuse the Chaos Emeralds was) not being designed to be an Echidna only civilization back in the Genesis days.

    3. RedFox99

So maybe a long time ago, Humans and Echidna lived peaceuflly, but as the Echidna got more violent the humans decided to leave and establish a civilization somewhere else.

    4. PaulyBFromDa303

Earth.  Or wherever adventure/06 takes place

    5. Almar

      Angel Island.

    6. PaulyBFromDa303

Does it really? That never made sense to me how humans exist in the Sonic world. Growing up it was always animals . . . (Remembers AoStH) oh, nvm

    7. RedFox99

Well there were other humans in AoStH.

    8. Almar

Have you never watched Looney Toons or Merrie Melodies? Sonic was even based on Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny.

    9. PaulyBFromDa303

Oh I knew this already. Yes he was. In fact during his creation in 1990 (maybe 88) Sonic was originally supposed to be a rabbit

    10. Almar

So what's so off about seeing humans besides Eggman when seeing the Sonic World in a way that a 2D platformer can't really show?

    11. PaulyBFromDa303

I dunno, something about it just doesn't fit. I think maybe it was the oversaturation of it in the early 00's. You have to admit, there were tons of em
