  1. The problem is that I CAN'T SEEM TO FUCKING FIND THEM. Gamexplain absolutely REFUSED to show or even link them. Since I'm not buying the game, I want to spoil myself.
  2. Here's my Halloween tradition

  3. Can't wait for Freedom Planet 2!

  4. Are you guys ever worried about being forgotten here?

The scary part is that I don't know if you're joking or not.

I'd be more worried about being forgotten in general.

    5. Polkadi~☆

To be forgotten is a death that I'd strive to never suffer from.

If you see a woman, respect them. You don't have to be a feminist to do that. Y'know what, scratch that, respect EVERYBODY. Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, religion, EVERYTHING.

  6. I hate Box Elder bugs. They are LITERALLY EVERYWHERE IN MY HOUSE.

  7. This got me thinking: how would you guys like a Mario cartoon be done?

    1. Perkilator

Somewhere between 100% faithful to the source material and standing out on its own.

    2. Zaysho

I think something similar to Super Mario Adventures with the developed world from the earlier RPGs (SMRPG, PM64/TTYD, Superstar Saga). Mario has so many fun and interesting ideas and characters I think there's endless amounts of material to pull from.

    3. Cayenne

I would like something similar to the RPG games. The best parts of Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi mixed in one package, with arcs, fun scenes, serious scenes and more characterization for the Bros. and friends.

I was thinking it would have a similar formula to Kirby RBaY:

Mario & Co. are presented with a conflict that often leads up to facing the Monster of the Week, then he transforms with a powerup to overcome this conflict, and it concludes with him collecting a Star. (Like how an end of an episode is like the end of a level)

Another idea I have is making it a sketch show, and feature different main stories and shorts each episodes. This is inspired by how the first Mario show switched between a live action sitcom, the main cartoon, and sometimes the Zelda cartoon instead. They could be based on different branches in the franchise, and could have different art styles to boot-

Mainline Mario: Normal 3D or 2D

Retro Shorts: NES Sprites, features simple plots with no dialouge that act as transitions. Can sometimes feature Mario Paint/Maker elements to give a more antic, Sesame Street like feeling.

Mario Kart/Sports: 3D (cel-shaded?) or 2D, Focuses on different characters each episodes as they go through their struggles with rivals and other problems on the road/field.

Donkey Kong- 3D, Less songs, More action

Yoshi- Either crayon shaded 2D or in the Woolly Crafty style, basically extended version of those promtion shorts for YWW featuring Yoshi, Poochy and Baby Mario.

Wario: 2D anime. Can be either Wario Land or Wario Ware based (or both).

Luigi's Mansion- Stylized, Claymation-esque 3D, focuses on the perils of Luigi, Polterpup and Egadd

Paper Mario: 2D characters, 3D background with popup book style, can also look similar to the Yoshi style

Captain Toad: 3D, Maybe it could do the whole treasure hunting thing if Wario doesn't already?

I would do something similar to Marc's idea...

EXCEPT instead of the final episode of the series, it's only the Season 1 finale.

And after that, there WOULD be more over-arching stories with character development, because 1. it'd make everything feel less one-note, and 2. I don't think it's possible to adapt stories like Super Paper Mario in one or two episodes without it feeling HEAVILY rushed. I think they should take the Ducktales 2017 route for the series.

  8. All this talk about the Sonic movie and I'm here thinking, "remember the Mario movie being made by Illumination?" I'm still wondering how that will go.

On one hand, it's Illumination, one of the most cheapest animation companies that are actually successful. On the other, Miyamoto's gonna be heavily involved, so there will be SOME quality control.

On the other other hand, this is the guy that ruined Paper Mario and hates story, which is REQUIRED in a good movie, unlike a game, where story can be nonexistent and still be good.

So all in all, I'm conflicted.

    1. Diogenes

"miyamoto hates story" is such a ridiculous rumor

    2. PublicEnemy1

Then why did he take it all away from the Paper Mario series? Yes, it was Tanabe that followed the orders, but Miyamoto was the one that told him that story wasn't necessary and that they weren't allowed to use original characters, and that's how we got a surplus of Toads everywhere.

    3. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

If a game must put gameplay first to him, a movie must inevitably put story first. Miyamoto is smart enough to tell the difference between a game and a movie

    4. Diogenes

Then why did he take it all away from the Paper Mario series?

      he didn't

      the games still have stories

just not the exact kind of story you want

Now that AlphaDream is dead, the ball's back in Intelligent Systems court for owning the sole Mario image, and after facing two poorly received games, they might need a back up plan fast. With Fire Emblem out of the way, I expect to hear about what's next for PM eventually.

    6. Wraith

      the games don't have stories

    7. PublicEnemy1

Oh yeah, the stories. I guess they were TECHNICALLY stories, but it was so barebones. At least Color Splash was kinda funny, but there's NO saving Sticker Star's story, IMO.

    8. PublicEnemy1

@Wraith The Paper Mario series had them. Or they USED to. Good ones, anyway.

    9. Wraith

miyamoto is not interested in telling traditional narratives in games because he'd rather mess with  concepts that lean harder on things that only the interactive side of the medium can do well. you can defend this artistic position without defending the aimless piles of shit that are the new paper mario games. Please. He didn't even directly work on them. It's okay

    10. PublicEnemy1

@Wraith Y'know, when you put it that way, I think I can agree with that.

  9. I fucking hate nasal congestion. I've had it all weekend. No matter what I do, from medicine to home remedies, I can't get it under control. I can't breathe well, and when I can't FUCKING breathe, I can't FUCKING SLEEP. It makes me want to cut my nose off just so that I can breathe easier, it's that fucking unbearable.

  10. I think the internet is getting slowed down again in my area for maintenance.

  11. A Nintendo comic. Any franchise. Just to see how controlling the Big N would be on it.
  12. I've been playing Pokemon Unbound's (a Pokemon GBA ROM Hack) Battle Tower demo. I'm already having more fun with this game than I did with US/UM. It's a highly fleshed Battle Frontier with multiple ways to play. Every single Pokemon from Gens 1-7 are obtainable, as well as all of their moves, with animations built from the ground-up. So many ways to customize your way to play, from Smogon tiers to multiple battle music/background options. They even implemented the "using ability" prompt that began with Gen 5. So much effort into one little demo on a GBA system. It feels more like a DS hack, honestly, it's so beautiful. Can't wait for the full release!

I started a bit of Renegade Platinum about a month ago. Was a bit surprised by how much it changes and it actually felt like a harder game too. Been meaning to get back to it.

    2. Ferno

how much longer until Pokemon Mania version and Pokemon Madness version

  13. Also, this cover appears to give the first appearance of Marine, unless I'm missing something that came up before.
  14. Well, there's Broly 2, and that's a Gohan movie.
  15. I'm glad that Sam Smith came to terms with who they are.

However, that does not make it OK for some people on Twitter to make fucking death threats to people who don't respect their pronouns.

Some of them are memes, but a couple could be construed as legit threats, such as this one.

  16. Does anybody remember or at least know of SaltyBet?

      Crow the BOOLET

      Yeah its a fun time.

  17. So just like with Dragon Quest, are there any fans of SNK games that can recommend me a couple that I should play? Y'know, so I'm more familiar with Terry.

    1. Kuzu

You can play KOFXIV, which is the latest game by SNK and has Terry in it.

You can also play the predecessor, KOFXIII. Slightly harder, but the graphics are phenomenal.

      Nina Cortex Jovahexeon

SNK Heroines also has Terry in it-*shot*

If you have a Switch you can download the Arcade Archive and download the NEO GEO games that have King of Fighters

    4. Mr Loopone

      Mr Loopone

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is usually considered one of the pinnacle SNK fighting games and it says a lot since they made so many. It has Terry in it but has a different design than he normally wears.

Other go to ones are Fatal Fury Special, King of Fighters 98 (probably best for the UM versions now, the original probably has balancing issues), maybe XIII and XIV for the modern ones. There are plenty to try, most are quite solid apart from KOF 2001-2002, KOF XII (unfinished) and their 3D fighters. If you want more SNK and not just Terry, there's also Art of Fighting 3, the Last Blade series, the Metal Slug series, and there's a Samurai Shodown collection coming soon but the new game is apparently good.

Oh and be careful for the final boss in those fighting games...

  18. Here in the garden...
    Let's play a game...

    1. dbzfan7

Welcome to the garden of madness

  19. I think he was stated to be in his 20's.
  20. I heard that SNK (the company that made KOF and Fatal Fury, which features Terry) is very, VERY popular in Latin America. If that's true, I wonder how they're feeling about the announcement.

    1. tailsBOOM!

It is very VERY popular there.

  21. I liked the direct, but NGL, that was a pretty disappointing final announcement.

    1. Speederino

Agreed. Xenoblade just doesn’t have that kind of BOOM factor as some of Nintendo’s other franchises.

  22. I believe a tweet from CN stated it, but I can't seem to find it. But Rebecca Sugar stated on the podcast that SU is still being made. It's just going to be different going forward. Plus, there are things that allude to being more explored, like
