  1. Saw this comment somewhere and couldn't help but laugh and figure it's true. The Star Wars and Sonic Fanbase are very similar and have similar arguments and ideals. Hell we even each have 3 eras. OT, PT, ST. Classic, Adventure, Boost. This isn't meant to be some backhanded remark.

  2. You mean Shadow and Knuckles Universe?
  3. So why is Lars Sullivan trending onn.....OK THAT'S ENOUGH TWITTER BUH BYE!!!

  4. Why are people shitting on Mike and Jon now? I mean I get past reasons why, but over a tweet like this? I honestly kinda agree...like half way. I mean honestly even if you use rewind or cheats you did beat the game (In contrast to what they said), however I wouldn't say you beat it LEGITIMATELY. I am however glad the feature exists for those who want to use it as some old school games were purposely made bullshit to pad length.

I mean why do people care if they're told they didn't beat the game legit? I can admit I've used cheating devices on some games and don't give a crap if I'm not legit for certain things...so what's the big deal? Personally though using those features is like cheating on a test and passing. This is from me who both does and doesn't use these tools depending on the game. Like in Onimusha 3 this really bullshit challenge I hated, I cheated. I never beat it legitimately for the upgrade and I don't care. It's not a game I take big dick gamer energy from XD.

For something like my love of Fromsoft titles I refuse to use any of these tools at least on my first run. Otherwise a tool to like change my stats when I want a different build I don't mind personally. You can call me out for it and I don't care. Play how you want. People can have their own opinion of definition of beating something so long as they don't be an asshole about it.

    1. Diogenes

who really cares if it isn't "legitimate" though

like yeah sure beating a game with rewind/save states/cheats/whatever isn't the same thing as beating it without, but what kind of turd cares so much about how other people are playing that they need to shout in public about it

    2. PaddyFancy

I know but they said it like fucking arseholes. In this day in age tact is an alien thing to people.

    3. dbzfan7

Apparently a lot of people because they're complaining about said opinion instead of ignoring it and not caring about whether it is or not. Which is ironic.

Feeling accomplished is just a human nature we like to enjoy. So of course someone trying to sell short your feeling of accomplishment is enough to rile the internet....but what isn't going to rile the internet honestly?

I care more for myself being legitimate than others. It's more a judge on me than anyone else. I offered the same to my brother when I was coaching him through Dark Souls 1 and 2. But I left him with the choice how he wanted to handle things. Sometimes he believed in what I would do, and others times he would summon. And even then summoning is a in game element so it's using the games rules either way.

Personally anyone can have their own definition of legitimate and beating all they want, and anyone can play how they want. I only half agree and even then to an extent.

It comes down to how they acted. Not tactful for one thing. I don't think it's too much to ask that they not make a mountain out of a molehilll for starters and then try and lord things over other players in such a snobbish manner.

but what isn't going to rile the internet honestly?

Nihilistic thinking like that doesn't help matters either. If anything, it contributes to the problem.

    5. Ryannumber1gamer

If a player got to a part of a game legitimately, there's no cheating to be had. People using a rewind or save state function to save time having to run back through parts that they've already done so isn't cheating, and it's part of the reason so many NES/SNES games are infuriating to return to these days due to this design. The rewind/save functionality makes them bareable, and covers up their major flaws.

It's ironic to say something like this - as in people being concerned with their "gaming achievements" when the whole gist of the matter from both Mike and Jon is gaming elitist bullshit.

    6. dbzfan7

Hey I'm all for using rewind or save state to cut down on some bullshit I would rather not deal with. I just find it odd that people do care whether they're legitimate or not despite saying they don't care. If you don't care, who cares what they say?

I take pride in winning in skill, but also have no shame using these tools if I feel the game design is bullshit. Like I typically would save state before a boss or something in some games just so I can jump right back to the fight instead of taking a long jog. I wouldn't just save state between hits or something as that's just cheating me out of the fight.

So I'm kinda on the "It depends" before I personally decide what I think. Key thing being what I think, and not the natural law and order everyone must adhere to.

Pretty sure we made it clear that the moral is not to be an asshole about this stuff. The main reason the folk you're supporting in thos debacle got called out.

    8. dbzfan7

I mean it basically all comes back on itself. I'm not really supporting them. I only half agree. But it's just really odd when the response is "who cares what people think/how they play" but clearly enough people do to complain about their opinion is all.

There is definitely value in doing what the game asks of you within it's own parameters but you also have to acknowledge that a lot of older games are built with arcade principles designed to waste your time more than anything else. Whatever you decide to do is valid.

    10. dbzfan7

I mean I did say that basically. I've admitted to using tools they said we shouldn't. So it's not like I am with them in condoning people. I do what they hate too sometimes. I just understand somewhat the feeling of growth and improving. It's just not everyone has time for it. But man this type of conversation has so many variables to it.

  5. Congratulations Whisper Overall got to see it and I liked it. It was friggin nuts how dread and depression was portrayed. Like you get smacked in the face with a brick labelled "SAD" when you see it. I also see depressed Cream memes coming out of this story what with how she looks like someone about to preach how meaningless everything is. Manic Depressed Cream. And my Son cried...that's a crime. Too cute to cry dammit XP. Oh and the Amy discussion while I'm NOT interested. I will say it would work so much better if we got to hear how a revised script for her in this chapter would sound...to get the point across. Otherwise no one is going to get what this other supposed better Amy is.
  6. Oh my god. I wasn't sure at first...but I can't at all refute this

  7. Just wanna say we really should seperate the "Kids movie" and "For all ages" movie category. One for something that clearly won't attract an adults attention, and one which will. Like Star Wars I say is for everyone and appeals to all ages. While something like Barney or Blues Clues is clearly really only made for children and not at all for an adult. I'd love to give a full review but I refuse to pay for this travesty of a trilogy after the Last Jedi. Everything I have read and seen in clips online as well as heard talked about over several discussions sounds awful. The only way I'd ever care about this era is if David Filoni got like a television series between TLJ and ROS and could basically do what Clone Wars did for the Prequels. The Force Awakens lightsaber battle wasn't that bad, pretty alright even but what the hell happened in Rise of Skywalker? I saw a clip of a full fight and jeez it's like watching a basement fight between children and foam weaponry. Where's the forms? Stances? Proper guards? Counter reposts? Technique? Seriously even can't get the basic swing to guard end position right. Instead lightsabers are baseball bats and they randomly decide to reverse grip and swing widely like morons. Who choreographed this and thought it was ok?
  8. I wonder who wins between Super Cena in his prime and Rey (Star Wars). Overcomer of all odds and forces vs Force Goddess. I think it could go either way really.

  9. He is in a better place in a land in the heavens......Angel Island XP
  10. My son looking like a total badass. Was not expecting that. Where has this been over the past decade XD
  11. Well at least Jedi Fallen Order was good, and the only Star Wars material we got this year right?

      The Mandalorian

Also I think some cartoon was on earlier this year that people really liked.

Resistance started its 2nd season this year.  It's decent overall.

I adore its visual style, and the premise focusing on ship combat and races excited me... but they really don't do nearly enough with it.  Too much time is spent with the characters grounded doing rather mundane things, and most of the characters aren't good enough to carry it (Jarek Yeager is probably the only character that I find compelling throughout).  At the very least, it's nice to get away from the Jedi and The Force for a bit (mostly anyways, there are some Force sensitives involved in some episodes).

It's not Clone Wars or Rebels, but yeah, there's still some good ass Star Wars to be found there.

Sorry I don't have Disney Plus. But yes I'll say 2 then....because Baby Yoda is all post ROTJ I would accept.

I just can't get into Jedi Fallen Order, great concept but terrible cheap action game IMO, I wasted my money on it. At least TROS is a good movie objectively.

    6. dbzfan7

Will say Jedi Fallen Order does basically just borrow from Souls, Uncharted, and Metroid and doesn't really do anything better than all those franchises individually, but it does pretty well with what it did even if the sum of its parts are less than its influences. It's an 8/10 for me. Loved the game, but it really coulda done with less jank, more combat options/powers, and better exploration rewards. Especially felt weird after I replayed Jedi Academy before it and it has way more force powers.

  12. Aaaah the feels. Even more powerful when they all grow up as if alongside us *Cough* Ash *Cough*

Though didn't 02's epilogue basically say it all works out in the end?

  13. YEAH MIYAZAKI!!!!

  14. Man if only life had a fast forward button so I can skip a lot of the Game Award stuff I don't care about.

  15. Death Stranding Hand Jobs here we come. It'll be the Red Dead Redemption 2 of this Game Awards.

  16. The planets are aligning and double rainbows appearing everywhere. All the teasing is Tails for Smash. Believe.

  17. Finally revealed and it's a dream. Of course. 0/10 But no I really enjoyed it. It was adorable. I actually laughed super hard at force ghost Tikal. Never thought she'd ever have a return. Beautiful. And Chao are capable of nasty fatalities, as I'm sure Sonic had to reattach that nose XP.
  18. Yeah it's kinda gets a wet fart of a conclusion. Why even have all those badniks? It felt pointless as they really don't change anything. Could have cut them out and we really wouldn't have lost anything. It all was comfortably handled and didn't really leave much for an interesting conclusion. Nice to see Tails for a bit even if he's basically just a plot device to put mimic away rather than really being a character. Oh well.
  19. I'd honestly be shocked if Death Stranding won GOTY. It's been mixed received rather than overly beloved. If it does win in that category then there is shenanigans.
  20. It's honestly shocking how Jedi Fallen Order gets character balance and progression so much better than the sequel trilogy does. Cal Kestis feels genuine, special even if he borrows Quinlon Vos Force Echo readings, and doesn't come off as laughably overpowered and hyper competent. He's much closer to what I wanted Rey to be so I could be interested in her. He's far more believable and gets help a lot along his road as a padawan from a mostly dead order. Going into spoilers really nails how big the Star Wars universe feels especially with that crazy ending.

  21. Probably won't make pack 5 but I still root for my son for the next dlc selection after 5.
  22. I think I've found out the stupidest reason I've ever been blocked by someone in the dumbest scenario possible. Blocked and disliked by someone I never talked to beyond politely asking once why they seem to have a problem with me when we never conversed before....and several months later their friend tells me it's because I like a fictional character they don't.....that's it. I don't even....like I moved on so long ago and brought up the topic as a joke...but then apparently got an answer....and that was it. Cartoon characters are serious business I guess.......
