  1. I decided to play the original Crash Bandicoot tonight for the heck of it. Don't. I can forgive the graphics since it was the first game in the series (I grew up with 2 and 3, only got an original PS1 copy of 1 recently) but the control is (Sonic's) ass. The lack of analog stick support is again, something I can forgive since those controllers didn't exist at the time and the level design was clearly designed for a dead (heck, Crash 2 didn't launch with analog control either, you need to track down a Greatest Hits release if you want it). Where it falls apart is that Crash's jumping feels heavy and he carries too much momentum moving around, it feels like you've constantly on ice. He also dosen't stop moving when spinning so trying to do that in tight spaces is a nightmare. I do have some problems with the N.Sane trilogy but if you're ever going to play Crash 1, do yourself a favor and play that version. It's superior from all a control standpoint alone, let alone ironing out C1's other issues.

Huh. Crash 2 in comparison fairs much better, in my opinion. Then again, the physics were changed from Crash 2 onwards, making Crash 1 the odd duck. You can especially tell in the N.Sane Trilogy, which ports back the newer physics, and some of Crash 1's levels do not play well with it (bridge levels are the obvious examples).

    2. Harkofthewaa

      Harkofthewaa

The real issue with Crash 1 on N.Sane is less the updated physics and more the changes made to hitboxes (most noticeable in the bridge levels). There are some minor changes here and there, for instance the big tnt in Ripper Roos fight behaves like normal tnt in N.Sane but blows up much faster in the original, making it way easier to time. Yeah, Crash 2 and onward play just fine on PS1, Crash 1 just has a horrible case of Sonic 1 Syndrome (again, the remake fixes most of it).

      Jovahexeon Explosive Witch

Honestly, between the pill-shaped hit box and more iffy physics in the remale version, I'd say the original still controls better, especially since it doesn't have a gimped Crash 3 jump.

  2. So I made the mistake of looking through Crash 4's achievement list, and saw one that is very, very cursed.

    WOAH

  3. So if Rump-a-Dump just tested positive, then considering neither of them wore masks in the debate Biden probably has Covid too, right? Looks like this race just went from Trump vs Biden to Pence vs Harris.

Tfw Youtubes's copyright system is so thoroughly fucked that Sony can claim ownership of a Bob-Omb Battlefield with lyrics video.

  8. Ah, The Outer Worlds has a new update! I bet it's for that DLC that came out recently. Well I've got some fast data left, let's check to see how big it is. Xbox: The size of the update is around 24.0 GB. This could take a while to update. Me:

  9. You know, I can't help but wonder if the reason were seeing such deafening radio silence from SEGA right now is because they're waiting for Crash 4 to come and go. TSR got absolutely buried under CTR:NF and maybe they don't want to get overshadowed by the bandicoot again.

    1. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

If that's really the case then we probably won't hear anything till Ratchet is out too.

Those two games represent where Sonic should be atm. After Forces, something tells me we won't be seeing anywhere near that with the next title. If I was Sega I'd be embarrassed too tbh.

    2. Dejimon11

      Dejimon11

I joke about CTR killing TSR but the problem was TSR was that game as a whole was solely dependent on the team gimmick which was the main selling point instead of an optional mode in the team races in Mario Kart. Which also lead to a safe level design and a limited roster since they wanted to have dialogue in the game. Also the online match making system was pretty bad.

    3. Mil-O-Lantern

      Mil-O-Lantern

@Dejimon11 Gotta also love how Iizuka said TSR was reportedly delayed out of 2018 to fix the online...

Really, the biggest problem concerning TSR that it's just a mediocre concepts put together that few were sold on and nobody was asking for. Nothing about "ASR, but only Sonic characters and with team mechanics" sounds exciting, and both the tight budget scope and limited creative freedom only reinforced that, with the execution being functional but nothing special.

The fact it was delayed to go up against a classic kart racer people actually wanted to be brought back, that was faithfully remade with extra bells and whistles on top of it; just made TSR look that much worse as a dueling product.

    4. Dejimon11

      Dejimon11

Honestly ASR with Sonic characters is a good idea. It was just extremely bare bones. For a franchise that has nearly 30 years worth of games why is the stage selection so limited? Why is the character roster so bare bones? It just seemed like the only reason why the game existed was because they wanted to sell a soundtrack

    5. Mil-O-Lantern

      Mil-O-Lantern

@Dejimon11 I'll give you that a Sonic-centric ASR isn't inherently a terrible idea; it's just that from the responses I've read, a lot of people wanted an actual ASR3, and people asking for Sonic racer was looking for something more unique like Riders (hoverboards) or Sonic R (on-foot racing) instead of a kart racer. (On that note, I still think the Boost gameplay in particular would make for a great racing spinoff series.)

Definitely agree with you on it being bare bones, which I think goes back to the execution being lacking--if they gave the game a sizable budget and went loose with creativity, they made a higher quality game that appealed to larger audience and actually held on its own against Crash (if only by so much, considering how weak the marketing was).

  10. I decided to do a Nuzlocke run on Pokemon Fire Red and chose Charmander. While soft resetting for an attack boosted nature I got a Shiny. With Adamant (plus attack, minus sp. attack, not really what I wanted). Are you kidding me game?

  11. You know what, I hate the Civil War questline in Skyrim and dread doing it every single time. Not because of the story, but because it breaks EVERY SINGLE TIME I play it. Not even the unofficial patch can save it.

    1. Emperor Spooky

      Emperor Spooky

Same. Last time I did it, I was well into it, and then it stopped progressing. At first, I thought It was caused by one of my many mods. After toying around a bit, I found that it was the game itself, which left me confused and frustrated.

I usually don't bother doing it. I have tons of other quests, (both from vanilla and mods) to play around with anyway.

  12. How much you wanna bet a New Super Mario Bros. compilation would be called New Super Mario All-Stars?

  13. You know what would have been nice? A compilation of every 3D Sonic game from Adventure to Lost World for the current gen systems. Give us some nice extras like being able to play SA1 on either Dreamcast emulation or DX mode, both versions of Unleashed and Lost World (with the 3DS versions Gyro Controls reworked) and give us both the Gamecube and PS2 versions of Heroes for shits and giggles. Make these games more accessible for people and give us something to teeth on while waiting for the next game in one swoop. SEGA'S all gung ho about porting Sonic 1 and 2 to everything so it's not like there isn't precedent.

    1. Diogenes

      Diogenes

porting like a dozen 3d games from across multiple console generations to multiple current consoles is uhhhh... kind of a lot to ask for

    2. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

It’s a tall order but the idea that they haven’t brought over anything to this current generation is... maddening.

Like really, it’s insane how we didn’t even get Colors, LW, or Gens on the Switch or something. Would’ve been easy money and a good way to tide over these long ass down periods.

  14. There it is ladies and Gentlecoots. CTR is officially dead.

    1. Nast

      Nast

i don't think a game has to be considered "dead" just because it won't get anymore new content, especially if the servers stay up and maintenance patches are still rolled out

    2. Harkofthewaa

      Harkofthewaa

That would be true if it still had maintenance being done on it but no. We're not even getting that.

    3. Bobnik

      Bobnik

It makes sense, they're split between 3 projects already - CoD MW(2019) PC support, Crash 4 and Black Ops Cold War PC port/general help. Making them also do new content for CTR at the same time would be somewhat suicidal

  15. So I took my SD card out of my Wii to put some stuff on it, went to put it back in... and aimed too high. Time to crack my Wii open yo get the thing out with all 2 of my brain cells.

EDIT: nvm I got it out with a pair of Tweezers (ironic). I hope I didn't damage anything (especially Super Mario Galaxy 2).

  16. Meanwhile at Sonic Team: "Alright guys, we're almost done with Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, a few more weeks of bug testing and we can go gold. Then we can start working on the next Sonic game for May 2021."

  17. You wanna know what the hardest challenge in Sonic history is? It's not the Eggmanland hot dog missions in Unleashed. It's not playing the Game Gear version of Sonic 2. It's not even trying to beat Rise of Lyric without wishing for the sweet embrace of death. It's entering the level select code in Sonic 3 alone. Up up down down up up up up reset. Up up down down up up up up reset. Up up down down up up up up reset...

I managed to get past the barrel several times due to Sonic 3's glitchy nature before I knew the correct method.

  21. I'm not the type of guy who usually says things like this, but for anyone who cares, Forza Horizon 4's Ultimate Add-ons bundle is only 20 bucks right now (at least on Xbox, I dunno ahout PC). That's hilariously cheap, especially considering that both the major DLC's and the Car Pass are 20 bucks or more on their own. The sale unfortunately lasts for only three more hours though.

SRB2 with touchscreen controls in a nutshell. For bonus points there actually is an option for tilt controls. Just don't, trust me. Get a controller if you're gonna play it on Android. Make no mistake it runs great (on my Galaxy S10e anyways), and they really tried with the touch controls, giving you every option under the sun for tweaking them. It's just that the game demands too much precision (more for the mere fact that its a 3d platformer than anything else) for touchscreen controls to be pratical.

I'd almost download it out of morbid curiosity if it wasn't 74 Gigabytes! I swear, this console sucks if your internet has speed limits, the next one is gonna be just terrible. Hell, I bet even those with high speed broadband are gonna bitch when the latest Call of Duty (just an example) is over 200 Gigs.
