What Sonic Team does going forward isn't something that I'm particularly interested in following at that point; rather, if they come out with something halfway decent, I may *possibly* give it a shot if it gets a very hefty sale somewhere down the line. Most important to me is that they've demonstrated they aren't worth putting faith into, so I won't be gambling on any of the future products until I can know with absolutely certainty that I'll enjoy whatever it is that they're putting out. Bless Steam's 2 hour return window; I gave the game (Forces) a shot due solely to that, and quickly discovered how much I disliked the avatar gameplay. I expect that they'll either: A) make another game similar to Forces, or B ) go off on another experimental tangent with something like Lost World. What I'm interested in now more than anything else is how the community proceeds with wonderful fan projects such as S2HD, and Sonic-esque titles such as Freedom Planet.

Perhaps Mania wasn't to their liking for whatever reason; but, any publication that can reward a passable score to a game a broken and unfinished as STH06 is one that I seriously doubt will see eye-to-eye with me in terms of what constitutes a quality product. So for me, personally, I'm willing to discount their opinion of Forces, yes. Their score will most likely be an outlier.
  3. I can't see IGN or Gamespot being too much kinder, honestly; So I'd imagine thats two more ~4-6/10 scores. I can't comment much into this, as I haven't been keeping up with Forces in a substantial way aside from skimming some posts from here and other websites, in addition to watching Youtube videos of the leaked footage. But, this doesn't set a good precedent for whats to come. As far as Famitsu is concerned, they gave Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) a decent score (30/40), so their opinion doesn't hold much weight with me.
  4. Fan creations coupled with nostalgia are the driving forces behind my continued interest in this franchise. While games like Lost World were only somewhat interesting to me, I've continued to follow projects such as Sonic 2 HD, Sonic World, the Unleashed Project, and various other efforts from fans over the years. Generations modding has been pretty nice. As far as official titles are concerned, Mania was a great release, save for the abundance of returning stages. I don't hold out hope that Sonic Team will deliver something truly spectacular anymore. Ever since Sonic Colors (despite Colors being a well received game from both fans and critics alike), my interest in newer titles has dropped off a fair bit; I'm not entirely disinterested, but its difficult for me to get properly hyped up for new releases. I'm not going to swear off ever buying new Sonic games, as I grew up with Sonic. So long as they're still making new content with him in it, I'll probably look on with at least somewhat of a passing interest. But, I don't plan on dropping the cash for his games on day one anymore. I actually do take stock in professional reviews now, and I look around the internet to see what fans are saying as well. I'm not even particularly bothered by spoiling Forces for myself with all these recent leaks; I feel like I need to know whats going to be in that game, because I simply can't trust Sonic Team enough anymore to pay full price otherwise.
  5. There's 83 pages of this at this point, so I hope you all won't mind if I ask this as opposed to reading them all: So, is the game a complete bomb, then? Is it worth the money, in your opinion? What's the verdict?
  6. I want Forces for the mods, at the very least. I'm honestly a little torn; The game will feature the best graphics the series has had to date thanks to the version of HE its running not being cut down like Generations and (especially) lost world were. Modern Sonic gameplay is bound to be fun, and the story looks at least somewhat interesting. But, then there's Classic Sonic, and his lack of momentum/half-baked physics. There's the returning stages for the 1000th time, and a new gameplay mode that I'm not sure about just yet. And there's also Denuvo in the PC release; At this point, I'm not sure what that means for potential mods (Mania seems to be doing well enough for itself at the moment in that department), but if it hinders the modding community in any way, I'm going to be less than pleased. It comes down to this: Right now, I can say for certain that I want 1/3rd of this game for the gameplay, even if I'm not at all interested in Green Hill or Chemical Plant. Whether or not I can get $40 of entertainment out of Forces remains to be seen, but I'm strongly leaning towards "I can't". I'll probably get it on sale. There's simply too much other great stuff coming out right now for me to gamble $40 on Forces; A Hat in Time needs my cash.
  7. It's been rather glitchy for me for a very long time, so much so that its discouraged me from contributing to discussions here often. Many times when I attempt to move a page forward in a thread, I either get a totally white screen with nothing, or an ad. I have to resend the link (not just refresh, but resend) in order to get to the next page. So, if there's 10 pages and I start on page 1, I'm potentially doing this up to 9 times if I want to read the entire thread. This doesn't happen on any other place I visit that uses the same software. In addition, the quick reply box at the bottom of the page often takes a very long time to load, and I can't begin posting until it does. Status updates on the main page are similar, and I sometimes get tired of waiting, so I just skip out on using it. Here recently, I've had issues similar to the OP; Earlier today I attempted to post in an existing thread. The quick reply box took forever to load, per usual, and when it finally did and it submitted what I wrote, it put the same post twice in one reply. I had to go in and edit out the duplicate.
  8. I'm a guy who has never really been a fan of this franchise before. I've only seen two episodes of the show, and they were early episodes (one about Pinkie cloning herself, another about one of the little ponies' cousins from out of town coming to visit. Something apple, bad apple, whatever). So, one of my friends who does like the show decided he was gonna go see it; We all dogpiled on the chance to go see the movie ironically, kinda how somebody would go see The Emoji Movie. For kicks, in other words, to see how many people we could actually get to agree to go in the first place, and who could tolerate the movie the longest without walking out. We had a "no phone challenge" to see who could go the longest without ignoring the movie. Color me surprised to say that I didn't think that the thing was actually all that bad. I think I liked it a great deal more than the reviewers seemed to have (IGN gave it a score lower than The Emoji Movie, but it's lolIGN, and few people around these parts care what they think). The little opening cartoon before the movie was pretty cool. But yeah, it was fairly okay. I think I'm alright with parting with $9 to have seen the film. It was certainly really happy and colorful and in a lot of parts, which is a breath of fresh air in this day and age. A friend of mine pointed out a lot of issues with it; Namely that Discord could've just waltzed in and saved everything, but I mean, hey. I didn't know that while watching, so I suppose I'm alright.
  9. I'm pretty happy that this exists, as Sonic Advance was a pretty big part of my childhood. I downloaded the demo, and I'll be watching with interest for the full release when it eventually arrives.

  12. More good news: The new patch has now reportedly also been cracked. It took 7 hours from what I've heard. Don't know where the actual patch file is atm.
  13. Located crack. Appears to be a small patch file that removes Denuvo for people who already own the game, as opposed to distributing the entire game itself (The "crack" for SADX back in the day was the entire game stripped of DRM/anti-piracy measures/disc-check or whatever, IIRC). SEGA has kinda earned themselves the widespread distribution of said crack. Won't feel sorry for them.
  14. At a panel, it was stated that the original name for Sonic Mania was "Sonic Discovery"; The logo art for Sonic Discovery is still in the game.

Don't remember the Switch version doing this. I'm using a Dualshock 1 mapped to a Steam Controller through Big Picture Mode. I doubt it's the controller itself; No other game exhibits these issues, including my other Sonic titles on Steam that I've tested it with.
  16. This confuses me. Are you saying "Why are people upset that they have to be online to download the game, and then not play it on that same PC"? Or maybe I'm misinterpreting... I don't understand. Anyway, the point is that Mania itself requires zero internet connectivity on its own, a point proven by the console releases. Always online is intrusive enough, but Denuvo could really throw a wrench in things, with some possible consequences being the game not running as well as it could without Denuvo/poor performance and the inability to create mods for the game which modify the executable file. That's pretty huge given what kind of game we're talking about here (a "classic" Sonic title) and the community's history with modifying these types of releases. This of course is in addition to the already-present Steam DRM, which itself requires you to connect to the internet every so often as is to continue playing games offline. Despite this, Denuvo generally is not even particularly effective at what it sets out to do. It's a just a pain to deal with in general. Things like this tend to make people want to pirate the game more, not less.
  17. I'll make an assumption: "social networking services" must refer to the those such as Facebook, Instagram, and so on. Under that assumption, I'll reply with this: I'd really appreciate it if you didn't let that influence your decisions, Nintendo. Not everyone uses or even cares for services such as these, and honestly beyond Facebook Messenger I rarely even use the thing. I don't have an Instagram or active Twitter account at all at the time of writing this. Miiverse offers a unique selling point in that it is strictly a community of Nintendo users, for Nintendo users, and thus is filled with content centered around all things Nintendo. This is all I desired out of a social networking experience on a Nintendo game console and have little desire to link up my existing social media account(s) to your online service. These outside services never provided what Miiverse did to begin with. Unless this is a way of saying "you don't need this, you have other avenues that aren't maintained by us in which to discuss our products". If that were the case, that'd be unfortunate. The core concept beyond Miiverse was pretty cool; Cool enough to return in some form or another in Splatoon 2, even. And I mean, "users shifting to social networking sites aside", this is pretty awful for everyone involved, even if they never cared to doodle things to post up on Miiverse. Smash U is losing Youtube replay posting, which means everyone will be needing to go back to capture cards now. That won't be received well, I'm sure.
  18. I triggered the same thing on the Switch version. In addition: -Frequent game crashes for seemingly no reason (Kicks you back to the home screen) -Entire system crashes (Error: 2107-0427) -Issues with transforming into the super forms in certain situations -Occasional softlocks on attempting to grab a chaos emerald -Collision issues (I've somehow gotten myself into a wall at some point and fallen through floors at Studiopolis). -Really minor things, still raises an eyebrow though. Music stopping and never restarting, etc This thing crashes a lot. So far, I've had it crash at: -CPZ1 miniboss -LRZ1, no reason -GHZ1, beginning with Tails -GHZ1 again, with Sonic And a few other times I forget the specifics of. It crashed right as I was trying to attempt one of the special stages at one point. I've already beaten the game with all four possible choices (Sonic/Tails, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails), so I'll probably wait for a patch to drop before picking it back up again. This really could've used more time for polish... This was possible in Sonic 2 as well, IIRC.

  20. I was born in '92. I prefer the Classic and Adventure eras. Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 were a big part of my childhood, but I never really liked Sonic 3 for whatever reason. I adored Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, the latter of which came out when I was around 9 or so, so I was probably part of the core intended audience for that game. It wasn't until Pontac and Graff signed on for the games that I truly began to dislike them... I listened to "Reach for the stars" and watched a few cutscenes with dialogue, and that was enough to turn me away from Colors at the time. Could be because I'm older now and therefore have a smaller tolerance for that kind of thing, who knows.
  21. These are my thoughts on it, basically. I love the direction he decided to take with the track (a slower R&B type of feel), but that "ye-eaaah" sample gets used too much throughout it. Its a good sample, but there were parts where I had wished he would've let the instrumentals stand on their own.

  23. To be completely honest here, this is the way I see the situation panning out for me, personally: I enjoyed Sonic Generations. Modern Sonic's gameplay was pretty fun, and Classic wasn't terrible, per se... So, what's on offer in Forces seems adequate enough for at least some of my money. I'd say around $20, at the very least. Which is what I should expect: within around half a year of it's original release date, Generations began to appear for around this price, and not long after a permanent price drop was affixed to it. By the time it hit Steam, I was able to snag it for under $15. Even if Modern Sonic is only a third of the game, by the time the game hits that $15 price point, I can reasonably expect mod support to have progressed to a decent level, and may even have access to a number of custom stages, which will expand upon the modern gameplay that I'm looking for. So, for me, the game is coming out in 2018. There's no way I'm dropping MSRP on it, but I will buy it eventually. Same deal with Lost World; Waited for it to hit $15, and at that price, I can't help but feel at least somewhat satisfied with my purchase despite its flaws. On the subject of delaying the game for more polish: The game as it is doesn't seem to suffer from any technical issues that would require further refinement in that regard (unless we're talking about the Switch version). Only reason I could see for them to do that is to add more content. If they were planning to do that, they'd likely just opt to make it DLC at this point.
  24. The claim is "some people prefer Sonic 4 to Sonic Mania". In what way can you provide citations for this? A link to a review? I see no reason why anecdotal evidence wouldn't be sufficient; they're not attempting to prove objectively that one game is better than the other, they're claiming that they know of other people who enjoy product A more than product B. I see no difference in this situation, and something akin to me saying "my buddies all think that Sonic 06 is better than Sonic Colors", and you saying "prove it".
