  1. So I’ve had Melody of Memory for a week and I STILL haven’t found the right BGM Timing for TV play. Sure would have been nice if they had some kind of TEST. Does anyone know how this setting even works?

  2. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that the handheld Switch version of KH: MoM plays the best. Because virtually no fucking lag.

    1. KHCast

      KHCast

I didn’t get any lag on PS4 Pro

  3. Cortex Castle is legitimately badly designed. It’s like if Naughty Dog actually put Stormy Ascent in the first game, as a mandatory stage.

    1. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

And then expected you to do it without deaths for 100% completion

    2. Conando

      Conando

Yeah. I will say I only died FIFTY times, though. Better than over 200 times, I guess.

    3. Sonictrainer

Can you spoiler tag the Stage Names, please?

I haven't gotten that far, yet...

    4. Harkofthewaa

      Harkofthewaa

      @Ryannumber1Scarer

That's pretty much the reason ND had to remove Stormy Ascent in the first place. Asking players to do it all in one go in the state it in was unreasonable l, and ND knew that. They lacked the time to make it easier so it had to go.

  4. There’s WAY too many hidden crates in Crash 4. It would be nice to just, you know, not have to go out of the way in every single stage.

    1. Soniman

Increases replay value I guess. I'm having the same problem lol

    2. Ryannumber1gamer

      Ryannumber1gamer

This has been sincerely getting on my fucking nerves, especially with how many are in every level (usually in the 100-200 mark)

  5. That Willy Wombat 4 is pretty solid. Doubt I’m get all the gems and relics though, because it’s far and away more difficult than 2 and 3.

    1. mayday2592

      mayday2592

Before I started I was confident I'd be getting through the game no problem and grabbing most of the gems first run after playing Crash for over a decade. Fast forward to now and I think I only have 3 or 4 box gems Lol. Gonna take awhile to get everything.

  6. It’s deeply disturbing seeing older family and family friends morphing into Trumpers.

It's plain painful seeing the people you once saw as wise or loving or anything else support that stain on the presidency and spew all the hate, excuses and misinfo that seems to come with being his fan.

  7. A Long Fall is still the best dungeon BGM, in FF XIV.

  8. A Long Fall is still the best dungeon BGM, in FF XIV.

  9. I got in a pre-order, for Series X, from Microsoft itself.

    1. Winston

      Winston

I tried but the Series X would not get into my cart on their website. Amazon came through for me though, like they did for the PS5.

    2. KHCast

      KHCast

      @Winston Damn you’re getting both?

    3. Winston

      Winston

Yeah, I figured I would. I like Game Pass too much to turn away from it, but I prefer Sony's exclusives.

  10. Also, Sony’s “answer” to Game Pass is pretty bad, NGL. You HAVE to buy a PS5 to access it, despite it being all PS4 games (that I all own anyway).

  11. That did nothing to convince me to change course. Series X this year, PS5 later when it has more exclusives. XVI (no release date and also on Windows), Miles Morales, and Ratchet (no release date) are the only ones that interest me so far.

  12. I kind of doubt anyone else is playing, but here’s my Crystal Chronicles totally not a Friend Code.

Reminder that it’s also North America only.

      KHCast

I’ll add ya when I get PlayStation plus again!

  13. Unless the PS5’s price is REAL GOOD, I’ll probably get a XsX first. Most of the early games I’m interested in are multiplat. I’d wait on Ratchet and Demon’s Souls for PS5.

    1. Thigolf

      Thigolf

      Ratchet is launch window, though.

    2. BadBehavior

      BadBehavior

Already bought a switch this year so I'm gonna wait for a year or so after launch till I get PS5. Did the same for PS4. Asides from the excusives, I feel like having to develop for the Series S and X will cripple any game that comes to those systems.

    3. Conando

      Conando

      @Thigolf

Launch Window includes the entire year after launch. What I’m saying is I’m not gonna go out of my way to get a PS5 early. I mean, they sent me something telling me to sign up for the possibility of the privilege to pre-order the PS5.

    4. Polkadi~☆

      Polkadi~☆

Ratchet & Clank is the only thing I want. Otherwise, I'm not pressed to get any next-gen console. I've got a Switch, I've got a PS4, and I'm really getting into playing retro consoles.

  14. The Series S is nice and all, but it’s going to hold back PS5 and Series X quite a bit.

      Jovahexeon The Undyne

      Oh? What's the context?

    2. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

It’s a good stepping stone for people to actually adopt the next generation sooner rather than later. Basically I don’t think it’s going to do any more harm than what the whole cross gen thing did for the industry last time.

As time goes on, 1440p for it will become 1080p, some things will get paired back, but it should still be able to play newer games which is often all a lot of people really want.

    3. Conando

      Conando

They generally develop for the lowest common denominator. It COULD lead to games not utilizing as much as the hardware as possible. This is only a possibility, though. Any dev already targetting PC can just set the S version to run in potato mode.

    4. Tornado

      Tornado

The main setback of the SeS is the graphics card, but it's easy to scale graphics down if the graphics card is the main difference. It still has a Gen 4 SSD and a Ryzen 3700 equivalent, so the advantages of game loading and the like are still there.

    5. Conando

      Conando

      Yeah, that’s true.

    6. Wraith

      Wraith

I question it's viability in the long run but I wouldn't worry about it too much in these first couple years where almost every game is gonna have like 4 different versions for crossgen

  15. I still wonder if Crash 4 will be good or not.

  16. Sony is gonna look REAL stupid if the PS5 is more than the Series X.

    1. Thigolf

      Thigolf

      Depends on how much.

    2. Conando

      Conando

Nah, they're gonna look stupid if it costs more no matter what the difference is. It's a pandemic economy and it's WEAKER than the Series X.

    3. Tracker_TD

      Tracker_TD

I mean to be fair the games themselves are more important than how many polygons it can push; the gulf isn't exactly going to be massive technically, and Sony definitely has the stronger lineup to a lot of people

I'm not terribly enthused by the PS4 myself, but I think people would still go for a more expensive PS5, even if I wouldn't

    4. Conando

      Conando

It’s weaker in both CPU and GPU, it’s not an insignificant difference. A slightly faster SSD isn’t going to help that. They tried being the most expensive before and it was a massive failure.

    5. Thigolf

      Thigolf

The SSD is double the speed than the one of the Xbox, and it's doing way better showing it off than Xbox does with any of their features. If they play it right (and again, if the price difference isn't too absurd, which I don't think it will), I don't think it will matter too much. Show off how fast Spiderman loads and can fast travel and people will be onboard.

    6. Conando

      Conando

Consoles, to the general public, are CoD and Sports title boxes. None of those are going to be optimized for Sony’s SSD. And it’s weird to me you say people actually care about loading when the PS4 was atrociously slow in comparison to the Xbox One. All that mattered was 2 things. The price point and whether it had AAA games. It’s the same reason the 360 raked the PS3 over the coals until it became a budget system in 2012.

    7. Thigolf

      Thigolf

I mean, if you argue like that, Series S has probably beat the PS5 by a lot and the Xbox Series X doesn't even need to be brought up.

    8. Conando

      Conando

Yeah, that’s true. The S alone might be a big problem for Sony. But it depends on the work devs will want to put in. The PS5 will already require more optimization than the X, then the S is being thrown in too. They just may not bother.

  17. I really do hope there are actual dungeons in BoTW’s sequel.

    1. StaticMania

      StaticMania

There were in the last game.

They may get to look aesthetically different, if that's what you mean.

    2. Conando

      Conando

No, I mean dungeons that aren’t just one big room. The Divine Beasts don’t cut it.

    3. StaticMania

      StaticMania

I'm not really sure why the Divine Beast don't count, just seems rigid.

If they're too short, that can be easily fixed...but that doesn't make them any less actual dungeons.

    4. Conando

      Conando

I’m saying this as someone replaying it. It’s still a fun game, but it lacks the things that make most Zelda games Zelda games. I don’t think it will work again to just dump you in a world to aimlessly wander as the main appeal. At least not as a direct sequel considering the world is the same.

    5. StaticMania

      StaticMania

It was my first 3D Zelda game, so I didn't really see a problem with that. They really can't do the same setup for the world again and even though no game-play was shown, I would assume that because it "is" a direct sequel and Link doesn't have amnesia anymore, simply exploring/discovering the world isn't a big focus of the sequel.

    6. JezMM

      JezMM

There is definitely no argument to be made that the Divine Beasts and Shrines were providing the exact same appeal of the dungeons of old.  They were the closest thing BotW had, but there was no real sense of exploration or wonder to them. The Shrines were basically big Portal test chambers and the Divine Beasts were fairly equally sterile puzzle chambers, just on a larger scale and with a nice skybox behind them (and obviously the throughline of moving parts of the stage around to complete puzzles).

I too hope we'll get something that strikes a better balance between dungeons of old and the sprawling exploration of BotW.  The fact that the teaser focused on them being inside some deep, huge ruins gives me hope that that's exactly what they intend to do with the next game.

One of my fave pieces of key Zelda art was from Link's Awakening:

Loved this era of Zelda artwork - Look at how foreboding that dungeon looks! : zelda

I'd love it if BotW can capture this sense of the unknown and atmosphere with dungeon gameplay.  Hyrule Castle in BotW is actually the closest we got to this - so much to explore and discover, with winding paths and labyrinths all over.  The only downside was that the gameplay was mostly just a more intense version of what you find on the overworld, not that much in terms of puzzles.  I'd love something that looks like the above and is dripping with atmosphere/lore but has the frequency of puzzles of a Divine Beast.  The Divine Beasts were also a little lacking in combat - the enemies were pretty much a non-issue.  I'd like to return to the classic Zelda ratio of having regular challenging combat as well as puzzles in dungeons.

  18. I’m actually really liking Crystal Chronicles Remastered so far. I’m used to doing the story progression mostly solo and multiplayer for just straight dungeon runs, because that’s what I did as a kid. I do wish there was a mode, maybe postgame due to the nature of it, that let you party up and cycle through dungeons to artifact hunt, though.

  19. I have to get this off my chest more often. As a Diabetic, I often fear I’ll die if I get Covid—19. Living in America is hell.

  20. I just saw perhaps one of the most entitled statement I’ve ever saw on Facebook. A guy saying he never bought any of these Deluxe Switch titles on Wii U (or a Wii U) but Nintendo is still milking him for money because...I don’t know the Wii U versions are a few years old?

  21. I didn’t watch, and am not going to watch, that shit? Anyone got cliff notes? State of Play presentations are usually mostly nothing with one or two neat things.

  22. I’ve been seeing people trying to paint Microsoft making the Series X compatible with One Controllers as a negative at worst and not a big deal at best. I mean, I like not having to buy a bunch more 80 dollar controllers.

    1. KHCast

      KHCast

Honestly I’m all for the industry doing this and cutting costs. Given the state of the industry, it’s always a good thing when people find ways to mitigate expenses and have it be customer convenient

    2. CrownSlayer’s Shadow

      CrownSlayer’s Shadow

Wouldn’t be the first time people acted stupid over a move that makes sense, honestly.

You know the gaming standard control mapping of looking around and moving with twin thumb sticks? That was considered ridiculous by reviewers when Alien Resurrection became the first game to do it.

    3. Bobnik

      Bobnik

Forward compatibility is a great feature that shouldn't be underappreciated, so it does suck to hear that people think it's bad.

That said tho, I've seen some people say that this is a "byproduct of stagnation", which, ngl, I kinda agree? As good as an Xbone controller is, there's always room for improvement, and the fact that MS didn't do anything to it outside of adding a Share button and changing a d-pad into a plate (which I don't think is even that good of a change), is another sticking point to how they're approaching next-gen (aka no experimenting, risk-free, services first, hardware later, "Stadia and Amazon are our opponents, not Sony").

Also MS taking quite a lot of L's recently in other aspects doesn't help them in the slightest.

    4. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

I mean the One’s controller is already damn near perfect so this is honestly a good thing imo. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

  23. So I’ve been seeing people on Twitter complaining about DQ XI S and how it should be a free update or DLC. I guess they never read ANY of the news on the original Switch version, because it wasn’t a downport to begin with. They made the damn game again from the ground up.

    1. KHCast

      KHCast

All the more reason gamers, including me, should stop buying games at launch. Stuff like this and Persona 5 Royale really seem to be normalizing to companies that they can just sell a game again and not have to make it a dlc for owners of the original

also if this is being sold new for 40 bucks, and is basically the switch port +a few enhancements, does this mean the Switch version is dropping its price down as well?

    2. Conando

      Conando

@KHCast That’s the question I have. Seems only fair.

  24. It’s that time of day again where my mother yells at me about BLM doing things as if I’m in charge of what they’re doing. Because I said cops do need to be reigned in.

  25. You know, it’s really weird that Nintendo didn’t just put out Yoshi no Panepon for Western Switch Online. You can’t switch all the menu text to English, but there’s an option that turns all the dialog to English, including Yoshi on the right explaining the menu options.

It would have been nice for them to give us the Tetris Attack version as well. They just need change the title to Yoshi's Puzzle League or something

    3. Conando

      Conando

Yeah, I guess it’s too hard to change the title graphics to Yoshi’s Puzzle League. 😕
