  1. So was Sony’s plan to make the PAX organizers look like jackasses and cause a bit of a panic? Because they did.

  2. And thus American Democracy marches closer to death thanks to an old white man.

Alexander voted no on allowing witnesses then said Trump did it but it doesn’t matter.

  3. Ok so fickleheart, a dev for srb2 kart, made an auto camera control style for srb2 gamepad use. It’s great, it’s not perfect, but it feels like a regular 3D platformer using it.

    1. Sean

      Sean

I've been using mouse and keyboard for over ten years, because it's the most precise control scheme and the alternative was analog mode which was awful. But this camera mod is absolutely the most fun way to play this game. In fact I prefer using a controller over M&KB now thanks to this.

  4. After actually getting quite good at the platforming in SRB2 2.2, I can now say the actually horseshit part of the game is the Metal Sonic Race.

      Conando

After not losing a SINGLE life, as AMY, I have lost a collective of 30 on Metal Sonic (2 Continues included).

    2. Conando

      Conando

I know they're amateur devs, but come the hell on. The final count was 32. You can't tell me they didn't know the race was bad. They HAD play testers. When one mistake means you lose, that's bad game design. When playing PERFECTLY (which I did on my last run), means just barely surviving at the 2 on the countdown? That's bad game design.

    3. Sean

      Sean

I'm sure they're aware of how hard that race is but their response would mostly be a resounding "git gud" because either they're not aware or they don't care that most Sonic fans aren't as hardcore at SRB2 as its veterans are.

    4. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

I didn't have a tough time with the race, it took me maybe six tries, and getting a game over doesn't matter since black core is it's own zone. The boss fight took me way longer.

But also none of the endgame content got reworked in 2.2, like everything before Egg Rock did. Between the changes to 2.2, the addition of a tutorial, and just generally lowering the difficulty overall (along with their actual statements) they've made it clear they want the game to be more accessible. Whether you think they're doing an okay job is obviously subjective, but I think it would be unfair to chalk it up to the devs not caring.

    5. Conando

      Conando

Making it so Black Core is its own zone is the bare minimum for making it tolerable, it still needs work. Like, Meat Circus still sucks in Psychonauts despite having infinite lives now.

    6. Conando

      Conando

This isn’t to say the rest of the game isn’t pretty well put together. It is, but Egg Rock and Black Core are a huge blemish.

    7. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

Well, like I said, none of the endgame content got the complete overhaul the rest of the game did, just minor changes.

    8. Conando

      Conando

That’s pretty dumb, though. Why fix the rest of the game’s issues but then dump the player into the crappy final zones?

    9. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

because the remake isn't done yet.

    10. Conando

      Conando

The whole point of this is to introduce new players to it though, right? Or perhaps those who haven’t played since it was tank controls (me). You can TOTALLY sour someone’s opinion of something by the game suddenly becoming a frustrating mess. They couldn’t WAIT until they made the last 2 Zones not a pain in the ass before release? For that matter, why not make it a demo if it HAD to be out now, locking out the ugly bits.

    11. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

The whole point of the additions was to have that as a thing that's part of the game in general, the update itself did a whole lot of stuff and was never purported to be the final one. I mean, can't I just turn that statement around on you and say "don't play the game until they make it clear it's not getting another update"? Calm down.

    12. Sean

      Sean

I'm rather forgiving of SRB2's faults due to playing the game since the early 2000s but honestly yeah these are fair complaints. Each new major update they put out is representative of the game as it currently is, not what it will be in the future, and it's not Conando's fault that he has issue with ERZ and BCZ being unfair, incredibly dated zones compared to the newer content. ERZ is already over an entire decade old at this point and has seen minimal updates, and people still give it shit for being too damn hard.

    13. Shaddy Zaphod

      Shaddy Zaphod

You can certainly critique the dev's priorities. I would agree with you. I'm not saying I don't wish Egg Rock was updated, even though I find it way easier in 2.2 (I could never beat it before).

My issue is that there isn't much of a good balance between frequent updates and substantial ones, especially when your save data is reset every patch.

Assuming this won't change, we have 2 more acts of Red Volcano to implement, then three acts of Dark City and Grand Eggship, plus revamping the five final stages, and reworking most of the multiplayer stages to fit 2.2's style. Version 2.1 took five years to come out and that didn't have nearly the amount of bells and whistles this one did, which took almost six.

There's being patient, and then there's considering whether splitting your content drops up a little might be a good idea. No reason to cut the game off for several extra years if it's not going to be reworked in the right order anyway, right?

  5. So if, after this huge delay, someone still has to carry the damn bucket in Crystal Chronicles...

  6. The only interesting things that came out of that were Bravely Default 2 and Xbox Sex (yes, I’m calling it that).

  7. Ok, EggRock Zone Act 2 is horseshit as anyone not Tails.

    1. Supah Berry

      Supah Berry

This was the only stage to not receive a overhaul for 2.2, apparently. For all the outstanding work done breathing new life into the rest of the game, remaking Egg Rock should've honestly been top priority.

I beat it with "Sonic&Tails", and I have the new "restart with more lives after game over" and a continue from an easy Chaos Emerald token to thank for making getting through this zone a lot less frustrating than I had dreaded.

  8. I haven't played SRB2 since I was like 12. 'S pretty good.

  10. So what's this Richard Jacques business about?

    1. The Tenth Doctor

      The Tenth Doctor

Well yesterday the offical Sonic twitter and Youtube page released a new version of 'Can You Feel the Sunshine' by Tee Lopes, Mariana Lopes and Jun Senoue. The page didn't credit Richard Jacques. This angered him and he posted a vile post against Tee. Not Sega, Tee. The page quickly added the credit onto Youtube but Richard still gave off an angry attitude towards Tee. He deleted the tweet this morning and is acting dumb, like it never happened.

The Tweet originally said " It's a shame that @teelopesmusic did such a bad job and a bad arrangement, whilst failing to credit the songwriter / singer and vocal arranger for his own social media likes. Absolutely shameful. Using other people's creativity for your own personal gain is disgraceful."

    2. Sean

      Sean

To add onto that, some Twitter users attempted to correct Jacques by saying he should be blaming Sega, not Tee. He told them they were "objectively wrong" without explaining why.

He actually doubled down on his jackassery instead of apologizing to Tee, who shares absolutely no blame in the situation considering he doesn't even run the Sonic social media account.

    3. Zaysho

      Zaysho

@The Tenth Doctor Huh, so the composer credit wasn't originally on the YT page? That sucks, even though it doesn't excuse his targeting Lopes like that. I'm glad Sega corrected it, but they really should've owned that mistake and said something to that effect instead of letting Lopes get shit on by Jacques.

    4. Sean

      Sean

"Hey guys! We just want to clarify that Tee Lopes is in no way affiliated with the Sonic social media account, and that we made a little mix-up regarding a composer credit for our Sonic R remix. Apologies!"

That's all the Sonic Twitter has to say for them to gain a tiny amount of respect from me but it'll never happen because they don't care that Tee took the blame for it. But enough about that, have some more memey shitposts about how bad Sonic 2006 is

    5. Celestia

      Celestia

The way see it if people were dogpiling Lopes then yeah it'd be pretty shitty of them to not speak up for him. As it is I've surprisingly not seen anyone side with Jacques (understandably considering he was uh...wrong, or at least blaming the wrong person), and I doubt even the Sonic account saying the same thing everyone else was saying to the guy would have changed his mind.

Lopes himself didn't comment on any of this either, aside from acknowledging TJ Davis' compliment and specifically saying that was the only opinion that mattered to him, which I assume was a jab (Jacques deleted the tweets so I can't compare time stamps).

    6. Strickerx5

      Strickerx5

@SeanTbf I think it's more along the lines of them rather not risk more people finding out about this slip up and temper tantrum than anything. Them acknowledging it would just draw more eyes. Like, I didn't even know about it until reading this.

Though yeah, either way it's still pretty shitty of them. But I'd definitely say I'm more pissed at how Richard handled it.

Imagine the mindset you'd have to be in to be that hostile at a fan doing a remix of a song you composed two decades ago, simply because some social media person forgot to put your name in the video description. Fucking yikes. Like, I hope he's better off than that and this was just a slip in judgement cause damn.

  11. My experience play Banana Blitz HD. I’m starting to have fun, then a boss fight happens. Why did they leave these fucking things in?

  12. Encore Mode Special Stage 7 can still lick my taint.

  13. Maybe I’ll try get into that Beastars series now that there’s an anime. *the license holder is Netflix* Sure would be great if I could start watching NOW rather than half a year from now. Fucking Netflix.

  14. Time for Skeleton.

  15. The controls in Mario Kart Tour are goddamn atrocious.

kinda wanna try it for myself soon. its too bad there's no option to use 3rd party bluetooth phone controllers

got me one of these recently and its a dream for games like Sonic 1, 2 & CD, as well as emulators:

      Tails spin

Wrote this the other day but I download, tried and delete this game within an hour

  16. Borderlands 3 is good, but definitely rushed. Hopefully I can get people to play with at some point. Xbox One X version because fuck Epic Games, my info was stolen thanks to them.

  17. I forgot that fucking “Straight Pride” Parade even existed. Glad that counter protestors dwarfed the thinly veiled Free Speech Rally 2.0.

    1. Polkadi~☆

      Polkadi~☆

      That actually happened?

I'm not big into LGBT culture, despite being LGBT, but come on; they have their parade for a reason, to be able to feel proud of something that was once socially unacceptable. Heterosexuality has always been accepted, so there’s zero reason to pay mind to it.

Blue Lions. I’m not keen on doing the exact same 11 chapters before getting to the good stuff.

  19. Leave it to Activision to miss on what should have been a slam dunk, right?

Where's my surprised face? I've forgotten it for the last forty fucking times we've dealt with Acti's shit.

  20. The entire FF XIV Shadowbringers soundtrack is goddamn amazing.

  21. I still don’t understand why they decided they knew better than Naughty Dog for the Tropy and Oxide times in Nitro Fueled. It’s especially silly because one of the nitro challenges is to beat Tropy’s original Crash Cove time, not his refueled one.

  22. Uh oh. They stealth nerfed Wumpa Coin payouts in Nitro Fueled’s online. I feel Bobby Kotick pushing those micro transactions incoming.

  23. CTR reminded me of one thing I didn’t miss. Hand pain from having to snake.

  24. Beenox can suck my taint for the hit detection for these crystal challenges. Skim a crystal? Nah dude. Look at a nitro crate? Yeah that’s exploding.

    1. KHCast

      KHCast

Yeah that was my issue to. You basically gotta restart if you miss in certain stages

    2. Conando

      Conando

I actually just said screw it and made an easy mode file for unlocking everything, because you actually have some goddamn breathing room in the crystal challenges. Shame the AI is super bad, though. They should rebalance the difficulty because easy is way too easy and normal is too hard for non-veterans (those goddamn crystal challenges are still ass no matter how good you are, though)

  25. The Switch version of Nitro Fueled actually holds up pretty well. It looks rougher around the edges but it still looks and runs good.
