Regarding those rankings, read this twitter thread.

This is even less concrete than the usual fan polls.

TF2 is one of my favorite games of all time and I love it to death but there is absolutely no way the Heavy is one of the top picks in any region, as amazing as that would be.

Was just coming in to say this.  This reddit post is bait at it's finest.  There's American accounts in the Japanese one, IIRC Gundam isn't even a video game character and the lazy dude who made this counted all the Tales series votes as Lloyd.   Then there's the fact that Sakurai asked vfc us not to reply to official accounts with character requests and now you've got less fans actually voting.  That whole thing is bait and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Well, yeah, for good or ill all bets are off all over again. We get yet another year of speculation and leaks.

Also, I've been pointed out that Terry's stage is not Antonov's arena but a generic (american) football stadium repurposed. But it's neat to see Ryo standing in the background like he did in the older KOF games (not quite in the same pose so I'm not sure how much of an homage that is).

I noticed a KoF logo in the middle.   I wonder if the others in the trailer will appear: Nakoruru, Geese, Iori, Kyo, Andy Bogard and Joe Higashi

Might also be worth looking at the copyright text too. Companies that are listed for DLC pack 5 are no where to be seen for 4. Admittedly there doesn't seem to be any real format these copyright text uses but that is a very odd omission for something that isn't announced yet.

Honestly, I'm taking this with one big ol thing of sodium chloride.

    I mean

DLC fighter five's company hasn't been on any of them, though Atlus was on Joker's final one, Square-Enix on Hero's and Microsoft on Banjo-Kazooie's.

One thing that I am curious about is that the date on the Nintendo page mentions it's February 2020, but this is character pack #4. The pass is supposed to be completed by then, so either that's a placeholder date or maybe there's something to it being a mix up for another game (though I didn't think SNK Heroines was even still getting new content).

I'm totally cool with an SNK character though. My first thought was Mai, but if it lines up with the other rumor about a girl and a mecha, then Metal Slug could be interesting too. I'm not familiar enough with their games, but this is certainly more interesting than past rumors about Doom or Overwatch or whatever.

It's a placeholder date.  It says the same thing on the eshop until the very moment a character can be downloaded

I was gonna say that'd be a tad weird, but then I remembered Bayonetta was DLC in the previous game.

I mean, Bayonetta is practically a second-party at this point.  If it weren't for Nintendo, Bayo 2 and the upcoming 3 would never be released.  SEGA and Nintendo each own different parts of the rights, with Bayo 2 belonging pretty much all to Nintendo and the opposite with SEGA for 1.

What makes it basically 100% unlikely that Overwatch isn't being supposedly revealed until next month.  No character, outside of Roy (Who's game was supposed to release before Melee before it was delayed, so it shouldn't really count) was revealed prior to their first appearance on a Nintendo console, even Cloud (Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded, Theathrythm Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy Explorers) and Joker (Persona Q2 and (If you count costumes like people did for Master Chief) Sonic Forces).  The only "evidence" is a Switch case which proves nothing since plenty of characters and franchises have licensed Nintendo merch without being in Smash, such as Diablo, Yo-Kai Watch, Elder Scrolls, etc.  I'm also not going to buy into a vague 4chan leak with basically no evidence, but playing Devil's advocate, my guess for a female rep who fits both that and the Banjo/Hero leaker is KOS-MOS, since there is no second Bandai-Namco rep, she is one of their most common crossover choices: She appears or is referenced in Project X Zone 1 and 2, Soulcalibur III, the Tales (of) series, Namco x Capcom, Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier, Tales of Vesperia, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and Endless Frontier EXCEED.  Nintendo and Bandai-Namco would both benefit from her inclusion.

In fairness, most of these are confined to the Classic dimension, several of the others are loathed by much of the community, and two of them have turned good, leaving the modern games with, uh...Metal Sonic. And Eggman, of course.

And the fan favorite, Zavok (Cue the five people who actually like him cheering)

We have plenty villains and antiheroes to work with. No need to mutilate an innocuous NPC to add to the already expansive rogue's gallery.

Guarantee you I missed a few others.

I guess I don't understand why you think this is a good idea. Much like the "Tails going to school" idea, it doesn't work at all. Maybe as part of a bigger "Eggman is roboticizing all of Sonic's friends en masse" plot, but like... making a huge arc with this one character? Just because you find her voice to be annoying? Because shes "too innocent for her own good?" No idea what your deal is, but I'm starting to think you're a troll.

To further your point: Witchcart, the Battle Bird Armada, Mecha Sonic, Robo-Sonic, Bio-Lizard, Solaris (By extension Mephiles and Iblis), Infinite, Dark Gaia, the Black Arms, Time Eater, Gemerl, Erazor Djinn, Eggman Nega, Merlina, plus they could always adapt BOOM villains if they really wanted to.  I imagine I missed a few too, and some of these are dead or met some other fate, but when has that stopped SEGA.

Been playing with Hero for the last couple of days. He's completely won me over. I've found a rhythm for the spells, and I've learned you don't need to rely on the magic menu that much. Due to the random nature of it, I haven't really focused on its occasional usefulness for recovery (Zoom) and tend to prefer the Woosh family of spells, but the buffs and occasional projectile magic are useful tools for me and my playstyle. He noticeably doesn't hit that hard (save for critical attacks) but he seems like he can rack up damage quite well. Overall he's fun and feels good to me. While I get he might be on the gimmicky side (and how), I'm actually surprised I could pick him up relatively quickly.

Yeah, their standard melee attacks are one of their major weak points, along with their speed and the end-lag after moves.  The boys are still a joy to play though!

  9. So, I know that most people here aren't into the competitive scene, but often times companies may announce something at EVO.  Last year Nintendo announced the Belmonts/Dark Samus/Chrom/K. Rool direct.  I'm going to be watching EVO on Twitch, and if we get an announcement I'll clip it and post it ASAP.  I'm predicting we could see a release month for Banjo and Kazooie or maybe a general direct announcement that is promised to have Smash stuff in it if they choose to announce something, but they could also pull a Game Awards on us and reveal Fighter Pass Four.  Regardless, if they announce it I'll post it (It would probably be Saturday or Sunday night)
