Can't stand History
I supposed to be learning about American History nd the 13 colonies
Well to be honest, I didn't do much history at school. It was mainly about 1066, Vikings, Tudor era, a touch of Victorian era and mostly WW2.
All you really need to know (and this is from a non-American) is some parts were Native American, some parts were invaded by the Spanish, English later invaded and landed in Virginia, slowly taking over the country, had a disagreement then caused people fighting between those who supported the British and ones who did not, Declaration of Independence was formed, John Hancock signed it, George Washington was the first President. American civil war, Abe Lincoln was popular but sadly got shot in a theatre, US bought Alaska from Russia, blah, blah, blah. Knowing about the 13 colonies is like learning for me about the Ridings and that is quite obscure anyway.
I think history is boring from your point of view and I don't really blame you is because nothing really interesting happened much in the formation of the US apart from what I wrote. It's mostly about a country expanding itself with only Canada and Mexico that they didn't touch, using the Gold Rush as an incentive. It's like knowing what countries that the UK took over during the Victorian era, it's something that your everyday person won't know or go into much detail if they did apart from say India. Other countries had wars, cultures and a push for stuff that we take for granted, the UK, China, Italy, Egypt and Greece have much more interesting history, even France, Spain and historically Jerusalem (Israel and a couple of countries).
Then again by learning history, you make sure that you won't be repeating the same mistakes that have happened in the past. Even though they do anyway.
