Can we keep them? Not in a sense of not having new banners, but keep the old ones as well with the randomization.

If they spent three years working on the Forces engine, graphical and otherwise, I'm very concerned. Sakura Wars is super pretty and puts the Hedgehog Engine to good use, but the fuck were Sonic Team doing when it came to  putting it to use in a Sonic game?

I think they've been generally done doing covers of main themes for a while now. Honestly, I'm just thankful that the two still have a working relationship as seen in TSR. Had me worried there for a bit with the silence.
Though I'd be completely down if they ever decide to change that stance.

At least seeing modern entertainment suck so much actually inspires me. Yeah, I wanna entertain and I wanna be better. They've lowered the bar so much that a self taught animator like myself, could actually make something that doesn't suck...possibly...
I'll show it off here when that time does come.

Also, can we talk about how in Forces, he shows concern over Omega when Infinite defeats him. But then in TSR, he calls Omega a "dumb robot" and I'm like "consistency, what is that!?"

I can't recall seeing anything big, but I'm curious. I know a set of rumors have been going around again, but always hard to tell what's real and what's fake when some really out there stuff has been real in the past. (unless it's something like Sonic 5, I would have a laugh if they ever did that by name after Sonic 4)

DryLagoon got a reaction from BadBehavior in Every sonic video essay now will have at least 1 of the following -mentions the serie
It seems like a delayed response if anything. I imagine it was something on the back of people's minds but after Forces and the lack of info it leaped to the front. The rants set off a wave from other people and so on. A lot of the stuff complained about actually happened in the early 2010s, but back then people didn't want to go against the mainstream opinion that Colors and Generations were great and that Sonic's Twitter was great. Now that time has gone onward and we've seen others that hoped things like "they'll surely bring back Tails and Knuckles once Sonic is right!" have faded. Once is a misstep, twice is a pattern. It's easy to go "Sure Lost World was different, but the next game will be better!". Then after waiting for years fans got Forces and reception was mostly negative again.
tl;dr 2000s fans are in the same place Classic fans were in the late 2000s/early 2010s

It always was amusing that Naka still being at Sega was seemingly the only thing keeping them from running NiGHTS into the ground. I like to imagine that every day Iizuka would wake up and ask Naka if he could make a sequel, and every day Naka would slap him.

I was listening to a Retro Japanese station the other day and I swear one of the songs had a melody that sounded like "Believe in Myself", but I assumed it was just by chance. I don't know the name of the song as Roku shows Japanese as blank squares.

DryLagoon got a reaction from Sapphirine Wind in Anyone else notice how much people hate the official Twitter account for what just am
I'm not saying Sonic doesn't have bad games and that they can never ever joke about it. But when all you can do for humor is go "member when Sonic kissed a human princess?" "member when Sonic died in 06?" "member when he was a knight and werehog and how bad that was?" "member Big existing?" "member when Shadow had a gun?", it gets old. It's the kind of joke I expect jaded fans and reviewers to make, not the official PR account for the brand. Whenever I see brands joking it's usually about rival companies and "spilling tea" as some call it, not about their own product. And I do think the Twitter has been better about it recently. I don't even mind the Twitter takeovers either. I'm just trying to explain why some people didn't like what the Twitter was doing back in the early 2010s.
I could just as easily go "member Sonic's Schoolhouse?" "member Sonic R?" "member Sonic popcorn maker?", but it's not worth it. I've lost count how many 06 jokes I've seen in my life time, but there's a reason they banned making new threads on it. Classic fans go on and on about how Adventure kids took everything away from them, yet online there's tons of praise for Classic while 2000s stuff is forever laughed at and mocked. For years I couldn't even discuss with anyone because all they'd say is "06 sucked, Shadow sucked, Sonic sucks, Sonic's friends sucks, Sonic was never good", you can't talk when people shut out the conversaiton.

The Twitter might not make the games, but in the first half of the 2010s I do think it encouraged a negative mindset the fandom and people outside the Sonic community had at the time. If you can't even treat your own product with respect, how do you expect others to? A joke here and there is fine (I found the puyo drain tweet a bit funny and topical), but making jokes at the franchise itself and people who loved it's characters isn't doing the brand any favors besides some social media upvotes. Show me Nintendo joking about cutting villagers from Animal Crossing, and maybe I'll change my mind. Nintendo doesn't need that crap to get people into their series. But I guess Sega wanted that as they did it for a good amount of time and bragged about their online following before slowing down more recently.

I wasn't around when the Sonic 4 marketing was happening, but I'd have been pretty pissed off if I was. The long joke being "oh jk only Sonic matters lol" means you're shunning literally any fan that cares about someone besides Sonic (even including Classic characters like Tails and Knuckles). I was reading an interview with Naka from 2005 and it was hilarious in hindsight how he viewed the topic of "going back to only Sonic". He understood that fans would be upset at the characters being cut all of the sudden, but then 06 happened and Sonic's friends got the blame for it sucking so then they got cut.
So while they didn't write the games, people tend to group it together with the 2010s writing in the games because both come with a lot of joking and mocking what some fans cared about.

Making fun of the games while still putting out bad games can come across as "We know we made bad games but lol we don't care here's another", which isn't exactly helpful. It basically only caters to people who think the series is a joke anyway.
Fun, harmless fan interaction is the way to go, I think. Show the good that has come out of the series, even if it happened indirectly, with some mainstream memes sprinkled in between. Remind people/fans of games that they actually liked. That sorta thing. Which, again, they've been doing pretty much recently. I think they've done a pretty decent job.

I just think making fun of the series is getting really grating when the series itself doesn't get better. I know the Marketing team is not responsible for the quality, but I feel like they should adjust to that. Going "Hahaha, remember how SHIT the series was?!" and immediately farting out Sonic Forces 2 months later makes me roll my eyes. It'd all be fun if the series was in a better place, but the way they did it just seemed tone-deaf and like they don't give a damn. Not making the games or not, they're representing the brand with that Twitter account.
Granted, they've done a lot less self-depreciating lately and just post dumb memes, which is fine. I'm glad they listened on that end.

What part of "the first half of the 2010s" and "they have been doing better recently" did you not see? They asked why some people complained about the Twitter, and I explained why some people think that way. If it makes me childish for wanting a reasonable conversation about the franchise after over a decade of these overused jokes, then maybe I'm not welcome here.

I don't really mind the social media side of things a good bit of the time because it tends to just be fun from someone who - yeah takes the piss out of the series a lot - but also clearly cares and values it a lot.
The point where it severely pushes it for me is when it bleeds into making those memes into the main backing of the advertising and allowing it to inflict the games. Forces having meme TShirts and Sanic not with-standing, the point it became absolutely insufferable to me was last year during TSR's marketing.
Instead of an actual ad campaign, or such, they instead flew out Arin and Jarad out to Japan, wasting god knows how much money on travel, food, accommodation, and whatever else would've been needed to try advertise TSR, to which Arin in the video was basically unenthusiastic and bored.
I can somewhat get Jared, he's at least a huge Sonic fan, but I'm really fucking sick of the Twitter constantly trying to appeal and advertise Arin, publicising someone who not only is - as stated above - known for hating the series, but someone who at very specific points - intentionally chose worst versions of the games he was playing to make them seem even more broken and horrible to the viewers of Game Grumps (The key example being when he admitted he knew that Adventure DX was broken compared to the DC original).
I'm not saying this to hate on Arin, even if I tend to dislike his content, but it really just gets on my nerves when I think about the amount of people who have big YouTuber channels who are passionate about the series, and while they criticise it, they still love it and want to see it improve and be great. We're in a world where in a marketing campaign for a Sonic game trying to get social media personalities on board with it, we chose Arin - someone who despises the series, over SomeCallMeJohnny, probably one of the biggest Sonic YouTubers/Reviewers.
