K I got quite a lot of things (A lot of them are just my explanations for plot-holes)
The original Metal Sonic was very weak and was only designed for speed. So Mecha-Sonic did come after Metal as a way to focus on strength like Robo-Sonic. Mighty left the Chaotix after Knuckles' Chaotix to go on adventures with Ray. (Or whatever those two do) Tails left Sonic after Sonic 2 (Sonic CD happens) and reunites with him for Sonic 3&K. Omelette is an actual character and she created Metal Sonic 2.0. Metal Sonic 3.0 was created by Eggman Nega after he discovered old blueprints for the OG Metal. The Super Emeralds are canon but were re-seperated from the Chaos Emeralds after the Phantom Ruby blast on Angel Island. Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll was destroyed after Sonic R because they failed to steal the Chaos Emeralds on all the tracks. Scratch and Grounder were created by Omelette to be her minions. Sonic and Eggman initially thought that there were only 6 Emeralds. (which is why Sonic couldn't turn Super in Sonic 1) The 7th Emerald was discovered in Sonic 2's Hidden Palace. Knuckles thought that Sonic was controlling Egg-Robo in Sonic 3&K. Silver can use the Sol Emeralds like Blaze.

Ok I might actually read this if it looked like this.
Don't get me wrong the writing would still be an issue, but not nearly as much as the art. It's a shame that Ken doesn't do this instead, it could genuinly stand on it's own.

Meanwhile the characters you've been building up as the setting's answer to Nazis, to the point where you actually (and very callously) edited a real life poem warning about the dangers of Nazism in order to be about your storyline, are suddenly no longer Echidna Nazis but unjustly victimized rebels against the theocracy. The theocracy you established in literally one issue, and not once mentioned in the entire storyline about the political structure of your setting even as that same storyline was all about how the villains are Totally Nazis.
At this rate when permanent global peace is achieved and thus there are no longer any crises for him to draw 'inspiration' from. Assuming he ever gets over his addiction of making a fool of himself on twitter. Which he will not.
    So never, basically.

Alternatively, he could always put out a call for artists to email him, give zero feedback (constructive or otherwise), then make claims on Twitter about telling said artists not having the desired skill set despite never specifying what he wanted in the first place. 😜

...Do the NORMAL Sonic comics even have other language releases? Mobius Encyclopedia lists Brazil, Germany and France releases of some of the NEWER stuff, but nothing from before 2011. I know Japan is just NOW getting the IDW comics, but is this guy getting translations done for a follow up to a story most foreign audiences never read?

The worst part about Ken is that he has the patience, following, and means to create his own graphic novel series, but he's so FUCKING incompetent, and all he needs to do is actually LISTEN TO THE CRITICISM. Had he done that, he would've realized that maybe his artstyle doesn't work at all, that he should focus on writing and drawing his book before even considering translating it, but no, and at the pace he's going it might never get done, because he'd rather get into arguments on Twitter and spend his life savings on creepy CG art of his characters than actually get things done.

    He's such a buffoon doofus.
If he had real confidence in this story, he'd retell it from the beginning with OCs / humans.
Penders M25YL is boring as hell, it's insane. I know he was building some big Infinity War version of his OCs, he thought, but whatever. Reboot your Geoffreys and so on to be HUMANS.
And if the story is good, people will say, gee that's cool, wonder what it would've been like in the Archie comics, oh well. Or they'll like it independently of Archie Sonic. This has no chance of that, at all. This requires at least 1, probably 2 or 3, wikipedia articles read before understanding what you're in for and for what perverse reason you'd ever both.

To me, Penders' problem is very simple to nail down. From what I see, he doesn't. care. All he sees this project for, these characters as - is a gateway to fame, popularity, merchandise, and money,
He's said the exact same thing in the past - that he doesn't consider comics to be an actual artistic medium, but rather just as a publicity tool to be used to push your franchise into a movie series. That's all he sees this as. Not as a good story, not as a piece of art - an excuse to get a fucking movie deal out of it.
So many of his actions make sense when you cut out the idea of this being a artistic passion project, and instead - an excuse to make money from what he seems to think is a viable franchise.
This is the same man who thought that the highest things on the priority list when it came to creating The Lara-Su Chronicles wasn't getting a book out, but instead - creating an app to sell it through, with voice acting, motion graphics, and all of this other needless bullshit that no one cares about. Creating merchandise that remained unsold on his Ebay page for years (and I know because I used to keep a tally on them for this very topic), and talking about making a goddamn movie out of it, claiming that since he knows the guy who made Iron Man's suit, that makes him qualified to make a movie.
This man instead of actually finishing the project he has creating for nearly a decade now is focused on needless nonsense like translating the comic into every language under the sun, making tons upon tons of art prints for selling at conventions instead of actually sitting down and concluding the artwork for this "long-awaited" project, and so on so forth.
Everything I've seen so far screams of something who wants to just skip the actual hard work needed to create a proper graphic novel, and instead skip right to the part where you get to make tons upon tons of merchandise to sell to people, and getting movie deals out of it. When you are unashamedly ripping off Sonic characters, and world-building elements that you had no hand in creating, right to the point of lifting them because you think since SEGA doesn't use them much anymore, that suddenly entitles you to ownership. This is a man who not only lacks creativity, but is actively using the project to try springboard a media empire instead of actually making something with passion in it.

Since we're on topic of the Pontaff, I'm going to do something insane: praise him for something.
Sonic Lost World is only Sonic game, where story is about Sonic. As if, about him as a character. In every game there is a problem (Eggman or other villain) and Sonic is here to fix the problem, nothing more. All the drama/growth/something happens to Shadow/Tikal/Emerl/Blaze/Elise/Avatar/evenMarine. Sonic is here to fix a problem, maaaaybe make a friend. But we know it's Shara and Chip who were changed by this, not Sonic.
Lost World focus really is about Sonic as a character. Sonic messed up. Sonic got into argument with his best bud. Sonic who goes through emotional conflicts.
..sorry I'm probably going off-topic here. I just didn't felt like starting whole new thread just to post it.

Get rid of the Two Worlds shit. Mobians live on islands, humans live on continents. Simple as that. Sonic Chronicles is a prequel to Forces. Get IDW to produce a 13 issue SatAM "Season 3" comic based on what Hurst had planned before the show was cancelled. Although maybe adjust Sonic's design to be closer to Tyson Hesse's Classic Sonic design. Begin work on a 2D Silver The Hedgehog spinoff game with similarities to Megaman Zero and Sonic Rush. Also starring Blaze and Mephiles.

Fun thread! Here's a riff on the Birds and wings idea.
Sonic developed his natural born speed based on a desire to fly, as a result of being raised in the remnants of an ancient bird civilization. South Island is home to the second largest population of Flickies in the world, and Baby Sonic was raised by Longclaw the Owl.
Though neither Longclaw nor Flickies are capable of prolonged flight like birds in our world, they can flutter and glide and cover distances quickly.
Baby Sonic loved to run and chase his Flicky friends, and soon exceeded their speed, discovering his own abilities and earning the name "Sonic" (a nickname that immediately then became his real name as his hedgehog birthname was unknown) when his speed broke the sound barrier — and caused irrevocable damage to Old Man Owl's hearing... when his sight was already bad!
My other major headcanon is that Everything Happened... which is mostly just assuming that the IDW comic series is a continuation from the Archie series, following the multiple universal resets by Eggman and Wily, but following Sonic Forces, the Archie characters finally went their separate ways from Sonic, and the Kingdom of Acorn was in good stable hands. Once Sonic and friends left, Eggman had no reason to continue focusing on them.
I like to assume that they could come back. And though it's unlikely it's definitely not an impossible issue of rights for that to happen in a mini-series or something to revisit Sally and Knothole and see how they ended up, or that Sega could change their minds about using Fang/Bean/Bark and Mighty/Ray/Honey.
Sonic Boom is the "happily ever after" of the story, taking place 10 years in the future, but still well before "25 Years Later" (if you want it), when Sonic & friends lazily keep watch over Eggman in his "base" (actually a prison cell) on Prison Island, where they befriend the locals including Sticks the Badger.

As implausible as it might seem, Eggman personally builds and repairs many of his machines by himself. Sure, the huge armies of Badniks and Egg Pawns and the likes are usually mass produced in his factories with only minor supervision (hence Omega's "Worthless consumer models" insult), but his more notable automatons such as the E-Series (with the exception of Beta's upgrade), Metal Sonic etc all had their construction personally performed, overseen and maintained by the Doctor and had their minds and "souls" programmed by his own two hands.
He personally rebuilds and/or repairs the Eggmobile every single time it's damaged/destroyed after his fights, which can be a painstakingly long process depending on the damage, but it also helps Eggman cope with his defeats a little, as working on his machines is a great stress-relief activity for him. He also built and installed all of the weapons and gadgets for the Eggmobile in Sonic 1 by hand (or tool anyway), only resorting to automated construction and installation for the more complex attachments and vehicle mounts in the later games, and even then he personally maintained those too. He has a philosophy that if you build a machine yourself and control it yourself, you can handle it better since you'll know everything about it, which he indeed does as seen by how deftly he uses/pilots his machines.
